These delicate-looking (but sturdy) buttons are shaped like little four-petal flowers, and are glazed in a very tempting, shiny lilac purple. The backs of the buttons remain unglazed.

Measurements: 20mm/0.75"

These porcelain buttons are impressed with a pattern of circles or dots. They're glazed in a lovely, translucent, dappled green. Five buttons are included in this listing, and each measures about 19mm or 0.75" across. The backs of the buttons are sanded smooth and unglazed.

Included with this pendant is the length of ribbon shown in the photos. I have also put together some lovely copper chains, available in any length you'd like (default 19") for $2 extra. If you would rather have a chain than a ribbon, please just let me know before purchase and I will edit the price for this pendant. This ceramic pendant is glazed with red on the exterior, with yellow inside the "peephole." The underlying color of the clay is dark red. Its shape is reminiscent of a birdhouse, or some natural place where and small creature has made a home. It's attached to a 23" cord (with some additional stretch) that can be tied at whatever length you desire. This pendant could also be used as a "scent locket" if you stuffed a small piece of scented cloth into the opening.

The entire pendant is glazed. It has three small dots on the back from the stilts I used to fire it on.

Measurements: 3cm wide, 3.2cm tall, 2.4cm thick (1.2" by 1.3" by 0.9")

My pod pendants are formed by hand, from wet clay, and are all one of a kind. After a first firing in my kiln, I brush on glaze and then fire them again. The complete process takes several days, at minimum.

This little bowl is made of red stoneware clay, covered in a crystalline glaze that flares from clear to little speckles and spots of a soft, bright pink. The underside is unglazed and signed by me.

Measurements: 44mm/1.75" wide, 22mm/0.9" tall

I wanted a slightly smaller, slightly thinner, more naturalistic version of my wee bowls, and so along came...twee ("teeny weeny") bowls!

You can use these bowls in the kitchen, to hold condiments, butter, spices, jam, or candy. They'd also be handy in any room in the house to hold jewelry, beads, change, or any little precious things. They're also surprisingly durable, making them perfect for kids. They are watertight, foodsafe, microwave and dishwasher-safe, although I recommend handwashing.

Unless it is noted otherwise, all of my bowls that are titled "twee bowl" are the same size (with minor variations) to make it convenient for you to create your own set. I'm also happy to make these bowls in custom colors--just contact me with your request!

These bowls are "pinch pots," made with wet clay, purely with the pressure of my fingers. The bowls are smoothed, dried, fired in my kiln, brushed with glaze, and fired again. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

triple color trees -- illustrated handmade plate

This handbuilt, functional stoneware plate is handpainted with the image of three brightly-colored trees, all intertwined as if in an embrace.

This plate is part of a new series for me, in which I translate the work of my fiance, photographer Orin Zebest, into the ceramic form. The original photo, "Triple Color," was taken at Mount Helen, Victoria, Australia.

I made this plate from a slab of wet clay, using a mold I made myself. I painstakingly hand-burnished the clay, giving it a very smooth yet textural feel. After firing it in my kiln, I brushed on all the different glazes that make up the illustration, then put a coat of clear glaze on top, before firing it again. The underside of the plate is unglazed, but vitrified, so that the whole plate is waterproof and foodsafe.

This piece is microwave-safe, but I don't recommend doing it for extended periods (i.e. defrosting meat). I recommend handwashing.

Measurements:
22.5cm or 8.75" diameter, 2cm or 0.63" tall

This whimsical yet fully functional sake set comes with a decanter and four cups. It's made from stoneware clay, and glazed in a combination of creamy sage and light green. Both glazes are full of warm brown speckles. The decanter holds 4oz of liquid, and each cup holds 1oz. This set is microwave-safe, and the decanter pours very easily. It could also be used to hold tea, plum wine, or other dainty, elegant beverages.

Each of these pieces started as a pinch pot, made with the simple pressure of my fingers. The decanter was then built up using coils of clay which were then smoothed out to make the final shape.

Measurements:
Decanter: 65-68mm or 2.5-2.75" diameter, 12.5cm or 5" tall, 27mm or 1" opening
Cups: 50-54mm or 2"-2.13 diameter, 36mm or 1.38" tall

My graduated-sized canvas vases are back! These little vessels are the perfect combination of soft colors, satin finish, and subtle texture. There are three in this set: daffodil yellow, seafoam green, and orchid purple. The insides and tops of all three are glazed in matte white. They are watertight and easy to clean, and make a lovely gift set.

These vases were made from wet stoneware clay that was rolled out on canvas into slabs, where they acquired their lovely texture. They have been brushed with nontoxic glazes and fired twice for beauty and strength. The bottoms are signed by me.

turquoise pod -- ceramic beaded necklace

I'm so happy to finally be releasing a line of chain necklaces made using my ceramic pendants and beads!

This necklace features a vintage copper chain and a beautiful copper clasp (handmade by Etsy seller BlindSight). Also featured are six of my handmade ceramic beads, in complimentary shades of deep blue and butterscotch. The colors in this necklace are inspired by Central American native cultures.

The ceramic pendant is pierced with a pattern of holes. It's covered in a glaze that is a similar texture and color to the raw turquoise stone, with the red clay underneath peeking through. It has a wonderful tactile quality. Its organic shape is meant to resemble a fantastical or alien seed pod. The entire exterior is glazed. The inside of the pendant is hollow, allowing it to have a pleasant weight without being too heavy, and to let light pass through.

Pendant measurements: 3.7cm tall, 3.2cm circumference (1.5" by 1.3")
Chain length: 16" (It can be shortened or lengthened prior to shipment, at no extra charge)

My pod pendants and beads are formed by hand, from wet clay. All pod pendants one of a kind. After a first firing in my kiln, I brush on glaze, and then meticulously clean it out of the holes. During the glaze firing, some of the holes in the pendants still do tend to seal up, but most remain open; it's part of the random, organic process of creating these pendants! The complete process to make one ceramic piece takes several days, at minimum.

twee bowl -- coffee and cream

This twee bowl is made of red stoneware clay, covered in a shino glaze that flares between a yummy coffee brown and a creamy off-white. The underside is unglazed and signed by me.

Measurements: 44mm/1.75" wide, 22mm/0.9" tall

I wanted a slightly smaller, slightly thinner, more naturalistic version of my wee bowls, and so along came...twee ("teeny weeny") bowls!

You can use these bowls in the kitchen, to hold condiments, butter, spices, jam, or candy. They'd also be handy in any room in the house to hold jewelry, beads, change, or any little precious things. They're also surprisingly durable, making them perfect for kids. They are watertight, foodsafe, microwave and dishwasher-safe, although I recommend handwashing.

Unless it is noted otherwise, all of my bowls that are titled "twee bowl" are the same size (with minor variations) to make it convenient for you to create your own set. I'm also happy to make these bowls in custom colors--just contact me with your request!

These bowls are "pinch pots," made with wet clay, purely with the pressure of my fingers. The bowls are smoothed, dried, fired in my kiln, brushed with glaze, and fired again. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

California sea lion: Zalophus californianus

This one of a kind animal friend is the icy blue of a glacier, the glaze crazing and flaring where thick. The bottom parts are left unglazed and sanded smooth. It is signed on the bottom with my initials.

Measurements: 74mm long, 45mm wide, 44mm tall (2.9" long, 1.77" wide, 1.73" tall)

If you have a child who plays gently with their toys, these animals love to be played with. They are nonporous, foodsafe, and highly scratch-resistant. They are just about as strong as stone but WILL break if treated too roughly.

All of my animal friends are built entirely by hand through a combination of pinching, shaping, carving, and sanding. I usually use photographs as my models. I then fire them in my kiln, brush them with a glaze suited to their personality, and fire them again at a higher temperature. Occasionally the glazing/firing process is repeated. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

ice cream bowl -- pansy and violet

This delightful bowl is glazed on the outside in a nice true purple. The inside is a more muted, almost metallic-looking purple that is almost blue where the glaze is thin, and almost red where the glaze is thick. Both glazes are dappled and swirled in uneven coats, to give them a watercolored effect. The bowl is made of white stoneware clay and is unglazed on the bottom, where my signature is carved.

I call this line of bowls "ice cream bowls" because, well, I love ice cream! They can also be used for any kind of hot or cold food, or for storage or decoration. Their rounded, footless shapes make them perfect for holding in your hand.

Measurements: 12.7cm or 5" wide, 7cm or 2.75" tall

I built this bowl entirely by hand, without the use of a potter's wheel. I use only lead-free and foodsafe glazes in my work. This bowl is microwave and dishwasher-safe.

I have discontinued my line of rings, and as such, those that remain are 30% off!

This simple chunky ring is glazed inside and out. It is very smooth, with a satin/gloss texture. The band is about 7mm tall.

The inside of the ring is thinly glazed as well, for added strength and smoothness.

If you're not sure about your ring size, please contact me and I'm sure I can help.

I handform all of my rings from strips of wet clay. Because of this, my rings are never perfectly round--they always retain just a bit of "character." This ring has been fired twice in my ceramic kiln, taken to temperatures in excess of 2000 degrees.

Please be aware that this is an art ring, and not suitable for constant everyday wear. I wear my ceramic rings every day for things like going out to dinner, visiting with friends, shopping, etc., but I remove them when doing dishes, playing with pets, carrying heavy grocery bags, etc. Though comfortable and relatively strong, these rings can break if dropped, banged against something, or placed under pressure.

I am no longer producing these rings. However, I don't have all my inventory listed in my shop, so if you're looking for a certain size or color, just ask and I'll see what I have.

SALE candy red stoneware ring -- size 3 3/4 (UK G 1/2)

I have discontinued my line of rings, and as such, those that remain are 30% off!

This simple chunky ring is glazed in a bright satiny red. The band is about 7mm tall.

The inside of the ring is thinly glazed as well, for added strength and smoothness.

If you're not sure about your ring size, please contact me and I'm sure I can help.

I handform all of my rings from strips of wet clay. Because of this, my rings are never perfectly round--they always retain just a bit of "character." This ring has been fired twice in my ceramic kiln, taken to temperatures in excess of 2000 degrees.

Please be aware that this is an art ring, and not suitable for constant everyday wear. I wear my ceramic rings every day for things like going out to dinner, visiting with friends, shopping, etc., but I remove them when doing dishes, playing with pets, carrying heavy grocery bags, etc. Though comfortable and relatively strong, these rings can break if dropped, banged against something, or placed under pressure.

I am no longer producing these rings. However, I don't have all my inventory listed in my shop, so if you're looking for a certain size or color, just ask and I'll see what I have.

CUSTOM -- porcelain poem pendant

I am always happy to take custom orders on my poem pendants! Each one is a wee little porcelain droplet, stamped with a line of poetry, and glazed in a beautiful color.

If you or a loved one have a favorite poem that you would like interpreted into a piece of jewelry, I would love to enable you! Please contact me with the poem in question (or just the name and author, if you think I can find it online) and we'll get to work! You can tell me what line you want quoted, or you can leave that up to me.

I can usually fit no more than 40 characters, including spaces, on a pendant. My stamps are in all-caps and include all letters, numbers, "&" and "-". I can hand-carve a few other punctuation symbols as needed.

I have a wide variety of glazes to choose from--you can check out my currently for sale and sold items to get some ideas, but feel free to just tell me what color you want, and I'll give you some options. Please note that not all my glazes are compatible with these pendants! Some of them wipe out any trace of the lettering, alas.

The pendants are available in three shapes: small droplet, large droplet, and heart. I am also able to make double-sided pendants with quotes on both sides; pendants in that style are $24, due to the extra difficulty it takes to get them just right.

My turnaround time on these pendants can be anywhere from one week to in excess of one month, depending on my firing schedule. If you need this pendant by a certain date, please inquire in advance, to make sure I can do it.

Unless you order a double-sided pendant, the back of the pendant is left unglazed and will be stamped "PANOPOLY."

Your pendant will come on a solid copper jump ring, strung onto a solid copper chain. I can also put the pendant on a vintage ribbon instead, for a $2 discount in price.

I handform my beads from wet clay, rolling and piercing them by hand. While they're drying out, I sand them thoroughly to get them nice and smooth. I then fire them in my kiln, sand them again if necessary, glaze them, and fire them again at a higher temperature. Occasionally the glazing/firing process is repeated. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

My poem drop pendants are formed from wet clay, then stamped as they dry. I then fire them in my kiln, carefully glaze them, and fire them again at a higher temperature. Occasionally the glazing/firing process is repeated. I then add a handmade copper jump ring, and an upcycled or vintage ribbon. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

Included with this pendant is the length of ribbon shown in the photos. I have also put together some lovely copper chains, available in any length you'd like (default 19") for $2 extra. If you would rather have a chain than a ribbon, please just let me know before purchase and I will edit the price for this pendant. My poem drop pendants are formed from wet clay, then stamped as they dry. I then fire them in my kiln, carefully glaze them, and fire them again at a higher temperature. Occasionally the glazing/firing process is repeated. I then add a handmade copper jump ring, and an upcycled or vintage ribbon. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

Included with this pendant is the length of ribbon shown in the photos. I have also put together some lovely copper chains, available in any length you'd like (default 19") for $2 extra. If you would rather have a chain than a ribbon, please just let me know before purchase and I will edit the price for this pendant. cute as a button magnets -- set of 5

These 13mm/0.5" magnets started out as prototypes for new buttons, but I discovered after I fired them that glaze had run into some of them holes and made it impossible to sew with them. But because I think they're just so ridiculously cute, I decided to make lemonade from lemons!

The firmly-adhered magnets used are made of rare earth neodymium, which makes them super-strong.

I form my buttons from wet clay, sometimes assisted by molds that I make myself. While they're drying out, I sand them thoroughly to get them nice and smooth. I then fire them in my kiln, sand them again if necessary, glaze them, and fire them again at a higher temperature. Occasionally the glazing/firing process is repeated. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

vase -- volcanic blue

This vase looks to me like a relic of some alien volcano. The freeform, curvy, naturalistic shape is like a stalagmite, or maybe a coral formation. The color is like a blue version of volcanic glass: mercurial, blossoming and flowering through a dozen different shades of blue. Where the glaze is thin, it turns to a goldeny brown. I've really tried to do justice to these colors in the photos, but I have to assure you that it looks even more amazing in person. The bottom of the vase remains unglazed.

The top portion and mouth of this vase are rather narrow, most suitable for just a few select blossoms. The color would compliment just about any flower I can think of! Made of stoneware, this vase is nonporous, watertight, and easy to clean.

Measurements: 154 mm/6.1" tall; about 71mm/2.8" by 48mm/1.9" diameter at base; about 25mm/1" diameter at mouth

I made this vase by hand from wet clay, using a technique of coiling ropes of clay on top of each other. I smoothed it, fired it in my kiln, brushed it with glaze, and refired it again at a higher temperature. The process of making one piece takes an average of 3-4 days.

wee bud vase -- milky way

This vase is made from red stoneware clay. The top portion and interior are glazed in colors that flare from a deep greenish-brown to a bright, intense blue. The lower half is a clear gloss glaze, spotted all over with tufts of cotton candy pink.

Measurements: 42mm tall, 48mm wide, 12mm mouth opening at narrowest point (1.75" x 1.88" x .5")

My line of bud vases are the perfect size for the most choice blossoms from your garden. They are "pinch pots," made from wet clay using just the pressure of my fingers to shape them. These pots are foodsafe, watertight, and easy to clean.

twee bowl -- lilac

This twee bowl is made of red stoneware clay, glazed in a soft lilac purple, veined with decorative crackles.. The underside is unglazed and signed by me.

Measurements: 44mm/1.75" wide, 22mm/0.9" tall

soft violet wagon wheel buttons -- set of 3

I created these porcelain buttons using a mold I made from a random industrial part. Where the glaze is thin, they're a soft grey, and where it's thick, the color deepens to violet purple.

Measurements: 20mm/0.8" diameter

The backs of the buttons are sanded smooth and unglazed.

I will also sell these individually for $2.50 each. Just let me know how many you'd like (you can mix and match with other beads/buttons in my shop) and I'll put a custom listing together for you.

polar bear -- animal friend

Polar bear: Ursus maritimus

This one of a kind animal friend is made from stoneware clay and glazed in a very pale, icy blue that thins to white. It has a faintly scruffy texture all over. It is mostly hollow, so not as heavy as it looks. The bottoms of its feet are unglazed white clay. It is signed on its belly.

Measurements:
5 inches/128mm nose to tail
2.5 inches/65mm at its widest
2.9 inches/72mm tall

My animal friends are nonporous, lead-free, and highly scratch-resistant. They are just about as strong as stone but WILL break if treated too roughly.

All of my animal friends are built entirely by hand through a combination of pinching, shaping, carving, and sanding. I usually use photographs as my models. I then fire them in my kiln, brush them with a glaze suited to their personality, and fire them again at a higher temperature. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

Cape clawless otter: Aonyx capensis, also known as the African clawless otter, or Groot otter.

Please note that these otters look quite different from the river otters and sea otters we normally see in the USA!

This one of a kind animal friend is made from stoneware clay. Its body is glazed in a warm chestnut brown, and the little fish it's munching on is an aquatic blue. It is sculpted all over, but the bottom parts are left as unglazed white clay. It is signed on the bottom by me.

Measurements:
3.5 inches/90mm at the widest
1 inch/26mm shoulder to shoulder
1 inch/26mm tall

My animal friends are nonporous, lead-free, and highly scratch-resistant. They are just about as strong as stone but WILL break if treated too roughly.

All of my animal friends are built entirely by hand through a combination of pinching, shaping, carving, and sanding. I usually use photographs as my models. I then fire them in my kiln, brush them with a glaze suited to their personality, and fire them again at a higher temperature. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

spring green clover buttons -- set of 3

I created these porcelain three-leaf-clover-shaped buttons using a vintage cookie cutter. They are glazed in a bright spring (almost lime) green.

I will also sell these individually for $2.50 each. Just let me know how many you'd like (you can mix and match with other beads/buttons in my shop) and I'll put a custom listing together for you.

These little guys are rather thin and delicate, and I do not recommend using them in sewing projects that require more heavy-duty buttons.

Measurements: 23mm/0.9" across

I form my buttons from wet clay. When they're dry, I fire them in my kiln, brush them with glaze, and fire them again. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

illustrated plate -- a glimpse and gone forever

This drawing was adapted from an illustration in "A Child's Garden of Verses," by Robert Louis Stevenson, 1896. Original illustration by Charles Robinson. The plate is signed on the bottom by me.

The vintage plate did not originally include any info about the manufacturer. There are three tiny bumps on the underside of the rim that seem to be a manufacturing relic; they don't affect the plate's functionality at all.

Measurements: 6"/15.2cm circumference

The illustration on this plate was drawn entirely by hand, using a dip pen and overglaze. The plate was then fired in my kiln, making the drawing permanant. This would look great hanging on your wall! This plate is food- and microwave-safe, but I don't recommend using sharp knives on the drawing; it may scratch it over time. I recommend handwashing.

The plate itself was sourced from one of my many trips to thrift stores, yard sales and antique markets. I love taking classic (but maybe a little plain...) ceramic items and breathing some new life into them! Although I'm a ceramicist by trade, and also construct my own plates, I find some of my nostalgic drawings to work best with vintage ware. I hope you agree!

wee dish -- dreamy blues

This little dish is glazed in a creamy white spotted with blue on the outside, and is all blue on top/inside. The very bottom is unglazed and signed by me.

My wee dishes are useful for so many purposes. They're just the right size for condiments (like wasabi, jam, etc.), for children's tea party collections, or to hold any manner of small items like candy, bits of jewelry, beads, etc. They're foodsafe, nonporous, and easy to clean.

This particular dish would also work well as a small ashtray.

Measurements: 65mm/2.6" wide, 14mm/0.4" tall

the cauldron of morning -- porcelain poem pendant

This pendant is a really beautiful, shiny, translucent reddish-orange color. It reads:

The back of the pendant is unglazed white clay (see photo for example). Measurements: 1.06" by .81" (27mm by 21mm)

Included with this pendant is the length of ribbon shown in the photos, as well as a hand-antiqued copy of the quoted poem.

My poem drop pendants are formed from wet clay, then stamped as they dry. I then fire them in my kiln, carefully glaze them, and fire them again at a higher temperature. Occasionally the glazing/firing process is repeated. I then add a handmade copper jump ring, and an upcycled or vintage ribbon. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

Included with this pendant is the length of ribbon shown in the photos. I have also put together some lovely copper chains, available in any length you'd like (default 19") for $2 extra. If you would rather have a chain than a ribbon, please just let me know before purchase and I will edit the price for this pendant. Occasionally the glazing/firing process is repeated. I then add a handmade copper jump ring, and an upcycled or vintage ribbon. At a minimum, this process takes 3-4 days.

I have discontinued my line of rings, and as such, those that remain are 30% off!

This porcelain band ring, made from tiny coils of clay that were joined together, is glazed in a light orange color. The band is about 5.5mm tall.

The inside of the ring is thinly glazed as well, for added strength and smoothness.

If you're not sure about your ring size, please contact me and I'm sure I can help.

I handform all of my rings from strips of wet clay. Because of this, my rings are never perfectly round--they always retain just a bit of "character." This ring has been fired twice in my ceramic kiln, taken to temperatures in excess of 2000 degrees.

Please be aware that this is an art ring, and not suitable for constant everyday wear. I wear my ceramic rings every day for things like going out to dinner, visiting with friends, shopping, etc., but I remove them when doing dishes, playing with pets, carrying heavy grocery bags, etc. Though comfortable and relatively strong, these rings can break if dropped, banged against something, or placed under pressure.

I am no longer producing these rings. However, I don't have all my inventory listed in my shop, so if you're looking for a certain size or color, just ask and I'll see what I have.
