I have a friend named Michael. He's a rock star. He fell in love with a girl. She was spending the summer in Berlin. Michael carried blank postcards in his back pocket at all times for when the mood would strike him to write her...which was ALL THE TIME. I'd never seen him like this. It was so cute and I was so happy that he found someone that he felt this much affinity for. Before the end of summer, he flew to Berlin to see her, and this painting is a tribute to love.

This is my activist piece. It goes with my anti-SUV website http://bummerarmy.com that has lots of "BUMMER" merch on it. After living in southern california for years, and seeing the ridiculous quantity of Hummers just polluting the air and destroying our future, I decided to do something to educate people and get the word out in my own way. I have a giant mural in Brooklyn too...but that would be difficult to sell. Unless your Banksy. :) But this piece is the original painting of my involvement in the BUMMER ARMY movement. So it's a special piece to me.

Coney Island means a LOT to me. My family has been going there during the summers for 4 generations. Now it's been bought by developers, and there are all kinds of rumors about what's going to happen. It's possible that the entirety of Coney will be gone by the end of summer, and replaced with ugly, shiny condos. This remains to be seen. It makes me incredibly sad that an amusement park that's created good times and happiness in New Yorkers for many many years (since the 1800s as far as I can tell) could soon just disappear. This painting I've done as an homage to a wonderful piece of NY's culture and history. May it never be forgotten.

I just love this view of the Millenium Bridge in London. This particular day it was gray and rainy and the only color around was the gorgeous blue of the plexiglass walls of the bridge. And of course the occasional bright yellow slicker. It was so beautiful.

I love this piece. It's part of my London secrets series and takes place in Whitechapel, which has a history of ghosts and secrets and strange phenomena. There's a Banksy in a dark alley there of Jack the Ripper with a spray paint can.

So I did this painting in the spirit of Whitechapel. This was also the beginning of my use of stencils in my paintings.

Another happy day on my trip to London with my best friend, Nick. We walked into a coffee shop, and I saw a girl in there who had the most beautiful red dreadlocks I'd ever seen. This painting is a tribute to beauty.

Morning Cafe

I was sitting in a cafe in London, bleary-eyed, hungover and waiting for my friend Martin to show up so we could go to the Tate Modern Gallery. He was taking forever. I was taking photos and decided to have some breakfast and tea. As I came to life, I started thinking about how amazing it was that I was in London right then. I'd flown to London all by myself with my own hard-earned money, and there I was, listening to these great accents, drinking fantastic tea, looking outside at the buildings, and just feeling so grateful that I could be experiencing that at that moment in time. That's what I tried to convey in this piece.

This is a limited edition tshirt with my artwork on it. It's an illustration I did specifically for this shirt, based on the "Smack is a Vampire" painting which is also for sale. Only 100 of these shirts were made, and only a few are left.

Each shirt has my dreXeL signature, the print number and a small secret quote from me under the neckline in the back.

They're white virgin vintage burnout tees by Alternative Apparel, and they're really soft and comfy. The ink is actually printed into the shirt, not laying on top of it.

This painting is inspired by a day I spent at the Tate Modern gallery with a very close friend. Walking around I remember thinking how amazing it was to see this bright turquoise plexiglass bridge (Millenium Bridge) against the gray scene on such a rainy day. It was just beautiful.
