This set is SO much prettier in person. Stunning, actually. The flamework focal beads are a pure, delicious pastel aqua with tiny, fizzy little bubbles...like the bead is carbonated! These beautiful beads by one of my very favorite artists are free-form glass fantasies that for all the world look like they're filled with soft sand, swirled with tide pool blue and kissed with pink flowers. The smaller complimenting beads are little nuggets of swirling sand and blue "water". This is a beach necklace, pure and simple. The awesome focal bead is a long, cylindrical shape with blushing pink flowers ringing the top. LAMPWORK HISTORY. Lampwork beads are lovingly made one at a time. A rod of glass, molten by torch and formed on the mandrel, becomes the base bead. Once the base bead is ready, the artist begins the laborious task of applying the multitude of layers, adding color upon color, creating swirls and valleys, accenting with pure silver or gold leaf. The color of any glass is dependent upon its metal content. As a result, a lampwork artist must have more than a passing knowledge of how their chosen colors will react with one another. The work of a truly outstanding lampwork artist will leave you in awe once you begin to dissect the bead itself. And each bead is literally unique unto itself; no two lampwork beads will ever be exactly the same. This ensures a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry, every time! The final, critical step in the lampworking process is the "curing" of the bead in a controlled-heat oven or kiln. The bead must be brought to room temperature carefully and in precise increments or the bead will crack, form fissures or otherwise be ruined for use in quality jewelry.

Absolutely awesome flamework beads in a luscious combination of deep emerald, cotton candy pink and swirls of pure 22k gold flake. Between each bead is a beautiful segment of gold-filled spacers, tiny sparkling Swarovski crystals in Light Amethyst, emerald glass "donut" spacers, and a large 8mm Swarovski crystal in their very elegant opaque shade called "Rose Water Opal" that I swear looks as though it glows from within. The eye-catching center focal bead is a long wash of emerald crystal decorated with a bouquet of pink flowers and plenty of gold flake. Lovely examples of top quality lampwork, each bead in this piece is a luscious mixture of swirls in baby blue, creamy ivory and cashmere tan, with a streak of glittering silver. It was love at first sight when I initially laid eyes on these gorgeous, lampwork beads with the warm, organic look. They are free-form in shape, with the main necklace beads in a modified, softened square with ruffled edges; the focal is an elongated and larger piece with the same ruffles on either side and boasting a sweet drop below consisting of different-sized periwinkle, opal green and coffee Swarovski crystals plus one round matching the pattern of the focal. The beads have been polished to a luscious high gloss finish, and the colors are just magnificent in shades of medium periwinkle darkening to deep navy, mossy green with shades of aqua, and earthy taupe blending with yummy chocolate brown. THESE BEADS: These beads are amazingly beautiful; way more so than the pics indicate. Intricately designed with sinuous, wavy sides, little nooks and dips...perfect areas for concentrating color or lightening it, or for applying silver accents and special swirls of alternating colors. Gentle, sun-washed butter yellow tinged with pale,warm caramel; pure, mellow aqua. Liberally sprinkled with pure silver dots everywhere, there's plenty of sparkle to these, though understated. I adore the complementing "rounds", shaped like little scored barrels and infused with all the same colors as are in the freeforms. And oh, I had fun with the accents here! I just happened to have wonderful aqua Jade stones cut in a smooth barrel shape that are an exact match to the lampwork stone colors. Then I added soft, glowing yellow high-luster glass pearls. Needed a bit of bling, so I threw in these wonderful vintage glass button-shaped, swirl-topped beads in glorious yellow with a shimmering aurore borealis coating. More little crystals from Swarovski in Jonquil and Pacific Opal. The finishing touch on the longer strand is a stunning, glittery freeform bead, slightly larger than the rest, hanging from the longer strand in between Swarovski crystals and those vintage yellow button beads, and another yellow bead and tiny Pacific Opal crystal dangling at the bottom. The focal is truly gorgeous, covered with interesting scrollwork, bands of color, silver beading and a wonderful, interesting texture that I swear looks just like a tidepool does when the water's rushed away from shore. Aren't these fantastic??! These beads are made from a brand new, very expensive type of glass (yes, glass) from one of the most famous glass houses, Vetrofond. The glass is rare, hard to make, and offered in limited quantities only. As such, these beads were very expensive to buy, but I had to have them! Look at the color striations, the scads of shades and swirls, and the richness of the colors...it's just amazing what this glass does when applied to the torch. Spacers were made to match the hearts; round, striped with color, some strung with dots of pure silver. All are very gently etched for a silky smooth matte finish. I opted to keep the accents simple, so I just added luscious orbs of amber glass beads, tiny Swarovski crystals in Medium Topaz, and sweet little silver beaded spacers. I found a magnificent stone that just had to be the focal piece for this necklace. It's a gorgeous chunk of African Queen Jasper, hung between a trio of Swarovski bicone crystals with two vintage, out-of-production Swarovski oblong faceted crystals in amber at the outer edges of the trio grouping. At the bottom of the stone is a tiny little dot of color in the form of a 4mm Swarovski Medium Topaz crystal. The earrings are just a sugary little addition to the necklace, with a single heart hung from 3/4 rounds of gold-plated wire that curl and end with a simple golden heart. Perfect! The sparkling clear globes are thickly overlaid with abstract continents of pure, gleaming 22k gold leaf. Oh, how these pics failed me! These beautiful double-strand beads are deceptively sparkly...just so soft and serene, but with a glitter that's just mesmerizing. The base of the longer (approximately 19") strand of beads is in the purest, most elegant powder pink, with a softly swirling ocean blue and touches of dreamy aqua. Overlaying this elegant color combo are soft little accent dots of the gentlest cashmere tan. I truly love these unique beauties because they're not your 'typical' beads. Pale, delicate blue roses are some of the rarest to be found and the hardest to grow, and these are no exception. Luscious and pure, these beads are artfully made using a marvelous and relatively new method where a color or metal treatment is applied in thick, wrapped layers that resemble shards of melted glass or metal. These beauties are softly-shaped ovals with slightly pointed ends, combining several shades of mouthwatering turquoise with graceful overlays of shards mixing a palette of greys that go from palest dove grey to deepest gunmetal grey. These stunning beads are some of the most unique I've ever seen; half the bead is in warm, luscious tones of golden honey, molasses, mint, violet, teal and periwinkle, meeting the midway point in curled waves; the other half is just simply glorious, clear crystal filled with bronzy glitter. The beads vary in size, from the two largest to much smaller (for the earrings). I took the two largest and nestled between them two magnificent borosilicate rounds with tiny bubbles and swirls of jewel tones, which themselves form bookends for a stunning, huge Swarovski crystal in Golden Shadow. The rest of the beads are complemented by segments of soft golden Swarovski pearls, tiny Swarovski bicones -- again in Golden Shadow -- and very cool cathedral beads (fluted oblong glass barrel beads with a tiny tiered effect at either end). Another magnificent set of beads where the pics don't even begin to do it justice...all the glitter and sparkle are lost in the camera's glare, but oh-so-glamorous in person. Approximately 22" in length, the necklace's lampwork beads are rendered in absolutely gorgeous shades of buttercreme yellow, bronze and swaths of glittering goldwash, bordered in a glowing, deep burnished cocoa brown. A thick horizontal band of a richly organic pattern of colors similar to raku graces not only the larger (1"x1") squares, but the sweet little matching barrel beads, as well. I love these beads! The beautiful, bright orange fish called the Garibaldi is California's state fish, and if you're diving off the turquoise waters of Catalina Island, you can see them by the dozens. When I saw these beads, I knew I had to name them after the brazen, friendly fish of my home waters. They are truly gorgeous beads, combining a matte finish with translucent patches for amazing three-dimensional depth. The colors are rich and true: several shades of soft aqua and deep, almost burnished sunset orange. Slender slashes of pure black means these beads can be beautifully matched up with the basic black pieces in your wardrobe. For one last sweet touch, tiny and exquisitely-detailed little aqua seashells are delicately perched on top of each bead. Another photography challenge, these awesome lampwork beads are truly some of the most unique I've ever seen. The effect is suggestive of looking through a window, late at night, with icy frost having decorated the glass with crystal shards of glittering light. The window "frame" is a rich organic combination of creamy buff and warm caramel, with paisley-esque swirls and little sparkling crystal dots in blues, greens and caramel. The opaque "window" is just simply breath-taking...irridescent slivers of deep, midnight blues, warm mossy greens and occasional flashes of fiery fuschia or gold. Although the main color theme is deep blue and green, the colors you'll see really depend on how the light hits these fabulous beads. In between each bead are tiny twinkling Swarovski 4mm bicone crystals in moss green, rich "Midnight Blue" Swarovski 8mm crystal-based glass pearls, and charming patterned diamonds of polished Crazy Lace Agate. 18.5" long, the lovely center focal beads dangles to add another 2.5". Created by a fast-rising German lampwork superstar, these beads are just magnificent. The necklace measures a bit over 20", and the beads are comparable in size to a U.S. quarter. They are brilliantly colored in a deep, luscious rosy burgandy, with a swath of deep periwinkle across the middle, lightening to a softer shade of periwinkle around the edges. But oh! the design! Over this dusky backdrop blooms exquisite hand-painted poppies in a vivid darker shade of crimson and in jewel-toned aqua, both with golden yellow centers. Crimson buds are ready to open on graceful stems scattered about. As if that weren't enough, each bead is generously brushed with a sweep of glowing 24k gold flake. Beads are bracketed between lovely 6mm turquoise glass beads, 4mm Swarovski bicone crystals in matching periwinkle and aqua shades, and gorgeous burgandy Swarovski crystal-based glass pearls. The slightly larger focal bead is a delightful eye-catching design surprise; very little burgandy here...the sun has set and evening finds the garden in deep, glorious hues of inky midnight blue and darker shades of periwinkle. From the focal sway several charms...abstract reminders of a curled golden twig, petals on a breeze, a gold leaf from a nearby tree... I had just the WORST time trying to photograph these beautiful beads, as the vivid turquoise just seemed to want to wash everything with a blue tinge. As a result, you don't get the full impact and beauty of the set. The beads themselves are (obviously) a vibrant shade of matte turquoise, wrapped with wonderful shards of varying shades of dove gray; veins of warm taupe don't detract from the basic turquoise / gray theme, but rather add a subtle organic feel to the beads that's delightful. One side of the bead is unadorned, while the other side boasts a little murrini shell in deep taupe and caramel. Personally, I like when the beads are all turned to the pure turquoise and gray theme, but you can adjust the visual interest of the necklace by turning the beads to which ever sides you find most striking. The beads are complemented by white pillow rondelles, little 4mm silver and turquoise Swarovski crystals, and the coolest marbled gray glass beads. The focal is striking: a gently curved bar with ring at the bottom, from which hangs a diamond-shaped bead hugged between two tiny Swarovski turquoise crystals. I've added a darling 7.25" bracelet and lovely, comfortable lever-back earrings for a stunning 4-piece set. The toggle clasp is a hammered silver circle through which a quarter-moon sliver catches; hand-made by the Thai Hill Tribes Silver folks out of the finest 99.7% pure silver. A luscious 23" spill, with the focal adding another 2/5". MUCH, MUCH more striking than my pics suggest!

This talented and well-known German lampwork artist's trademark designs consist of gorgeous ocean hues and adorable three-dimensional conch shells, with plenty of textural interest in the form of sparkling little bubbles of various sizes and colors. This set is done in a soft, gentle combination of pale aqua, deep dusty teal and warm tones of sandy beige with khaki overtones. The swirling design suggests miniature tidepools, and luminous little glass bubbles in deep royal and warm caramel are scattered from top to bottom. Each bead end is graced with a tiny matching blue glass bead, complemented by a collection of Swarovski crystal-core glass pearls in soft green, faceted glass beads with a dual finish of satin and sparkle (matching the pearls precisely) and tiny 4mm Swarovski bicones in a satiny shade of Golden Shadow with a glittering, kaleidoscopic aurora borealis coating. These stunningly-detailed and generously-sized lampwork pieces are by the celebrated German artist Michou Anderson, a published and supremely-gifted designer well-known for her exquisitely-detailed designs and luscious color combinations. To me, these beads evoke an abstract portrayal of a "heavenly" garden path surrounded with brilliant blossoms and rich foliage beneath an azure sky. Michou has blended jewel tones of deep aqua, teal and forest green with rich, organic chocolate and bronze, highlighted liberally with streaks of goldstone for extra sparkle. The flowers are done in glorious shades of deep coral red, burnt orange and touches of aqua. Each bead is different, and each is simply stunning. Astonishing, breath-takingly beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece! The large ~1.5" round center focal is the most awe-inspiring, elegant, jaw-dropping piece of pure molten glass lampwork artistry I've ever seen, and it alone cost me well over $100. This artist's pieces are sold world-wide to the most discriminating lampwork connoisseurs, and it's no mystery why. The expertise, creativity and eye for color is obvious...a wide swath of glorious, glittering coppery-bronze sparkles as if on fire... the raised, verdigris bands suggest the bare branches of a tree in Fall, with leaves gone but still glowing with sunset brilliance. Absolutely amazing (and mind-bogglingly difficult to create) delicately-layered fingers create a bee-hive effect in shades of cognac, pale caramel and softest mossy green, all underlaid with sparkling irridescent splashes of moss, nestled beneath super-delicate, genuine copper mesh.
