Kefir is a pro-biotic milk product that most closely resembles buttermilk and has been used for centuries. It's full of good critters and may help alleviate lactose intolerance and promote overall immune health. It's very simply made without funny appliances or special techniques. All you need is a couple mason jars and a collander.

Kefir can be used to make creamy smoothies, pancakes, biscuits, cornbread--anywhere you'd use yogurt, buttermilk, sour cream or soured milk. I've even used it to make yummy homemade cottage cheese! Kefir will keep for weeks in your fridge.

These grains are LIVE, not dried, and will continue to grow and thrive as long as they are well cared for. Once you get your grains, you are set for life and will soon have grains to share with friends. You will receive approximately 1-2 tablespoons of grains in a small plastic container.

I cannot guarantee that the kefir grains have been made with only organic or raw organic milk, as it is illegal to sell raw milk in Virginia (my state) and I do not currently have access to reliable organic milk that has not been ultra-pasteurized. I can guarantee that these grains have been lovingly cared for in a clean and constant environment. They will arrive alive and ready to set to work!
