I originally did this painting to submit to a show based on tea. However I forgot where I found the Call to Artists...so up it goes on my Etsy Shop!!!

This is by far one of my best still life paintings. The colors are the usual mustard olive hue of my painting room's walls, and a subtle white surface.

The mug matched the white surface, but the vivid red tag of the Tazo tea really compliments the autumnal colors of the tea itself. A very dynamic painting.

This mug was given to me as a gift, and the other side of the mug it says "Carpe Diem" or "Seize the Day." I like to drink out of it sometimes and while I do, I think about what I can do to fulfill that mantra.

This would look phenomenal in a kitchen, a study, a tea room, or an office.

I imagine this guy just bought his car...he drove it over to his ex girlfriends house to say "hey sally, look at how cool I am now." and she shut the door in his face, so he goes back, sits on the runner board and wonders how to get her back.

Many of the Chubby series has some type of transportation in them...I actually just realized this. I think it is because those things are what date the photos the most. Transportation is taken for granted these days...I don't think I have one photo at all of me with my 2001 Nissan Altima...but people used to be proud that they were able to own a vehicle.

I took the sepia toned image and used the sepia tones, but added subtle muted tones. The sky is a robins egg blue with greenish warm yellow undertones. Menawhile the man and his car and warm shades of brown, purple and paynes grey.

This is a smaller Three Trees painting using the vintage train ledger paper. I go through each page I currently have and find what would make the best combination for the trees. This specific three trees boasts a new process of painting. For this (and the other 2 like this) I painted the entire canvas one solid color and then layered from there. Traditionally I would start with a blue base for the sky... but I am branching out to explore new colors!

Nice shades of pink and orange are the highlight of this painting. This would be perfect sitting on a bookshelf or desk, or hanging with a nice collection of eclectic items.

All paintings are varnished so they are protected from UV rays as well as dirt and grime. Sawtooth hanger on the back...sides are painted, no need to frame (unless you want to!)

Faceless Hunter is a part of the “Chubby” series.

While I am not personally a hunter, nor do I think I could ever actual kill an animal on purpose, I can respect the purpose behind it. It was once a vital to part to our existence, and in a twisted way it's our connection with nature.

I imagine than man is a hunter in simpler times. He has his hunting camp in the background where he spends his nights on his cot listening to the wilderness and awakes before the sun rises to disappear into the woods.

This piece was inspired by the huge magnificent pieces of machinery that had such an impact on the way we lived in the early 1900’s. Locomotives were so intricately built and screamed the endless possibilities of new technology and a new frontier. It seems like the quintessential sunday morning in Rhode Island back in the day. Similar to the Fisherman painting, I kept her and the rest of the foreground in the sepia tone I normally use for Chubby paintings, however I added in some pale earth tones in the background...it's a visually interesting play bewteen the two.

the story behind their shop is beautiful and they have some of the nicest mason jars I've seen (plus some really creative lamps, lanterns, and soap dispensers made from mason jars). I had to refrain from buying everything in their shop! i love the way these items bring back the past and also tell a story. the shapes and colors and connotations are all so evocative.. which is what i try to do when I paint...give items a chance to tell their story.

to me the story with this mason jar is a story or hope, reconnection, a reminder of what is important...which is why i titled this mason jar painting after their shop...MidWest Memory.

One of my favorite paintings I've ever done, The Land is one of the key paintings in the Talisman series. This series of paintings features central images or objects that connect and resonate with books for which I had a significant emotional reaction. The Grapes of Wrath was the inspiration for this book. In fact, I used pages from the actual book within the painting.

The wheat/grain is abstracted in a pixel-like way throughout the painting, but it's very subtle. The details and subtleties really make this an interesting painting...you'll discover new things every time you look at it!.

20 inches by 20 inches, and 3/4 inches deep. The edges are adorned with pages from the book (specific passages chosen specifically for this purpose). There is no need for framing and there is hanging hardware already attached.

The last photo is an example of the depth of the painting.

This painting definitely had its ups and downs. And for me, it ended on a high note!

Part of my Chubby series... meaning its based on a vintage photograph. The texture of the plane wing, the shadows on the concrete, and that "no bull" expression on the mans face seem to pop right off the canvas, while the flowing, billowy clouds pass on by.

There are so many subtle hues in this because of the numerous amount of transformations this painting took. It started out with a green base, took on a dusty dark blue tone, then a layer of vivid sunset pink and oranges came next. The final layer of blue, green, and white washes finish it of... a complexity normally reserved for fine wine.

And speaking of wine, the edges of this painting are painted a deep crimson red with a hint of purple.

A difficult painting, but worth the struggle.

A photo is worth a thousand words...this could be the basis to the entire Chubby Series (paintings based on antique/vintage/discarded photos).

This is the "sister" painting to Bunny Heath. The colors are almost identical but the feeling is worlds apart. The man holding the camera is looking straight at the viewer, giving it a really intimate feel...much like a photograph. The sky is a combination of antique blue, yellow, and green. In different lights, different colors take center stage.

My favorite part of this painting is his clothing. I started with tones of warm purple, light blues and greens, and then used the red oxide type color with hints of yellow as the final layer. This creates a complex and interesting play of color.

I normally shy away from pinks, simply due to the finicky nature of the color, which makes it hard to work with. However, I wanted to challenge myself to get some interesting depth of color. The warm pinks on the stark cool yellowy blue sky have a nice play to it.. while the subtle yellows dance within the entire painting.

This print is made from an acrylic painting, which came about because of a creepy coincidence. I was reading the book "House of Leaves" and one day I found a bin of old photographs in an antique shop. Lying on top was a picture of a house…and this house was EXACTLY how I pictured the residence from House of Leaves. I turned it over and on the back it was written “Like a Barnacle…it just grew….and grew…and grew.” And if you have ever read House of Leaves, you would know that the book is about a house that mysteriously starts growing. Sometimes it’s hard to believe it’s only coincidence.

All my prints are signed and numbered and printed on Hahnemühle German Etching paper (310 g/m2) with archival pigmented ink. This paper has the subtle texture of an etching paper and a soft white tone. It is mould-made and inherently acid free and has appealed to artists for over 400 years. This is a heavy line of papers, giving the final print a substantial feel. Watermarks are not on the actual print.

Each print will be packaged in a clear bag, and will include a signed and dated certificate with the print's title, paper type, ink type, date printed, and edition size.

This listing is for an 8 by 10 custom acrylic painting of either your house or as a gift for someone else. These stylized house paintings are a part of my series titled "Home". I started this series because to me. a house becomes a living breathing being with it’s own unique untold story of families past. These memories are a fingerprint on each house, which makes them not quite haunted but each with it’s own ghosts.

The painting will be 1.5 inches deep on high quality linen canvas, with all the edges painted. This means there is no need to frame it, however, you may frame it if you wish. This is a fantastic gift for someone who is hard to buy for. It also works well as a unique housewarming gift, a gift for a maid of honor or best man.

Please allow 3-4 weeks after I receive the photos to complete and ship. You can either ship to yourself or I can ship directly to the recipient.

It is ideal for you to send me multiple shots of the house at different angles so I can determine shape, placement, size and details of the house and surrounding landscape.

Faceless Hunter is a part of the “Chubby” series.

“Chubby”: an ongoing series of paintings based on black and white, sometimes out-of-focus photographs I’ve found in antique shops/flea markets, in bins littered with hundreds of discarded family photos, vacation snapshots, and postcards. I choose an image because I feel connected to the person who took the photograph or the person in front of the camera. I want to document, synthesize, even extend the life stories of these left-behind people through color and line.
