A dainty hummingbird hovers to drink from the fountain of a morning glory flower. The wreath-like design features the twining of the morning glory vine in a design slightly reminiscent of Celtic knotwork.

This is a 5X5 open edition print of an original watercolor. Printed on brilliant white heavyweight matte acid-free/ archival watercolor paper. The print date and my signature are on the reverse, and I will ship this print in a clear sleeve with backer board for support.

I don't know about you, but I'm ready for spring! I'm ready for color. For green grass. For flowers. So I made these earrings to cheer me up while my part of the world is still drab and brown. I hope they'll cheer you up, too. Great for Easter as well, these earrings feature fuschia freshwater pearls, hammered copper coils, and peridot green faceted glass rondelles dancing from copper chain. These earrings also have copper earwires, and the overall length is about 2 inches.

The handcrafted copper earwires are untreated and uncoated--just a warning for those whose skin may discolor when wearing copper.

Dragonfly Moon - Art Nouveau Dragonfly Art Neckpiece

This Art Nouveau style neck piece was created for the Use the Muse II contest, sponsored by Scarlett Lanson, a contributing editor of Beadwork magazine.

The ethereal blend of blues and purples in this contest kit played into my daydreams, and the LillyPilly laser-cut shell served as the perfect full moon. For the background I created a watercolor dragonfly painting reminiscent of batik fabric. I transferred the painting to polymer clay, mounted the muse, then embellished it with a polymer dragonfly, a faceted amethyst, and a bouquet of beads and sterling silver ivy leaves. The curving framework is sterling silver wire woven with beads from the kit, along with shimmery kyanite ovals to bring the silk ribbon and the focal piece together.

Dragonfly Moon is part of the Sherwood Forest collection.
The legend of Robin Hood and Maid Marian inspires images of a primeval forest with trees draped in ivy vines and ferns growing amidst tree roots. Sherwood Forest is "natural medieval," with the curving lines of vines and plenty of leaves and seasonal colors.

Ride the sterling silver waves with this tiny sea dragon--otherwise known as a seahorse. This pendant features a dyed magenta paua shell cabochon with flashes of hot pink and purple fire. This one-of-a-kind shell pendant is wrapped in sterling silver wire, and suspended from the wave-like ribbons of silver is a little sterling seahorse charm. Finishing off the pendant is a hand-dyed magenta silk ribbon, approximately 20 inches long, including the handcrafted sterling silver S hook and eye clasp.

This piece is piece is part of the "Tempest" collection, inspired by the fantastical Shakespearean romance in which the sorcerer Prospero and his daughter Miranda were set adrift and shipwrecked on a remote island. Starfish in tidal pools, beach glass, sea shells and sea horses, I like to imagine the pieces in "Tempest" as a magical array of natural objects discovered during Miranda's many barefoot strolls on the beach.

Opalescence - Fused Dichroic Glass Pendant

At first glance this pendant looks like an opal. In reality the opalescence comes from the bits of dichroic glass fused with iridescent white, translucent blue and yellow, and topped with clear glass. I created the oval fused glass cabochon in my kiln and then wrapped it in sterling silver and embellished with turquoise/aqua blue fire-polished glass beads and lemony yellow bicone Swarovski crystal beads.

The pendant is approximately 2 inches long and 5/8 of an inch wide. The chain is sterling silver, 18 inches long.

Note: Though this fused glass cabochon has been annealed for strength, it is still glass and may break upon impact with a hard surface.

According to one Greek myth, the wine god Dionysus found the lovely Ariadne asleep on the island of Naxos after she had been abandoned there by Theseus. Dionysus fell in love with the sleeping beauty and made her his wife. Perhaps in his courtship of her, the wine god gave her a pair of earrings like this, with amethysts and peridots that call to mind succulent grapes dangling from a silver branch. What woman wouldn't love such a gift?

Faceted deep amethyst ovals are wrapped on a sterling silver head pin with a molten silver ball and a curlicue embellishment reminiscent of a curled grape vine. I carefully wrapped six 4 mm peridot beads per earring in threads of sterling silver to dangle like a cluster of grapes above the amethysts. The handcrafted ear wires feature molten ball finials and have been slightly hammered for a more finished and elegant look. Every piece of these earrings has been handcrafted by me from semiprecious gems and sterling silver wire.

Overall measurement is just over 1 1/2 inches, from the top of the ear wire. The dangle itself measures just over 3/4 of an inch.

Someone on Twitter mentioned that orange is all the rage right now, and that adding a little purple would be just thing. "Of course!" I said to myself, "They're complementary colors!" Inspired, I ran into my studio and finished the sterling silver hoop frames I had started with these fire agate coins and amethyst beads.
