Here's a pair of wonderful striped mitts for the person who can't or chooses not to wear animal fibers. I have been researching plant fibers but so far have found they are not suitable for cold weather items. I used this yarn for a pair of mitts for my daughter who has sensory issues and she loved how soft they were. She even said her mitts were, "Surprisingly warm".

This pair of convertible gloves are made of a very soft satiny acrylic in the colors "Chocolate", and "Toast". They are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are fairly dense and heavy, with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth.

The idea for thumb flaps was given to me by a customer after trying to use a pen while wearing her new convertible gloves.

With a flick of your finger you can open the thumb flap and use a pen without removing your gloves. Or pop both thumb flaps and you can text away on your cell!!

I've added flaps to both thumbs so it doesn't matter if you're a righty or lefty. :)

This pair measures about 7.5"(19.05cm) in circumference and 7.25"(18.4) from wrist to tip of closed mitt without any stretching. After compensating for the density of the yarn these mitts will fit a hand about 6.75" to 7.5" in size. The cuffs are about 3"(7.6cm)wide.

To find out your glove size measure from the base of your palm to the tip of your middle finger. Also measure around your palm at the knuckles. The measurements are usually the same, but if not, go by the larger number or compare to sizes I have listed. If you have any question about how these gloves will fit your hand just send me your measurements.

There is a loop and button to keep the flap back on each glove when going fingerless. I try hard to find just the right buttons to accent each pair of gloves.

Made of an easy care acrylic yarn they are machine wash and dryable. I have prewashed them so there'll be no surprise shrinkage.

I've taken my popular convertible fingerless mitts and made them smaller!!

This pair is made of an easy care acrylic yarn in pastel blues and browns. They are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are fairly dense with plenty of flap overlap to keep in the warmth.

The cuff is about 2.25"(5.7cm) wide and from the wrist to the tip of the mitt when closed is about 5.25"(13.3cm) The circumference around the knuckles is 5.75"(14.6cm).

A 2yr old toddler's hand runs about 4" long and 5" around so these will easily fit with room to grow.

To find out the glove size measure from the base of the palm to the tip of your middle finger. Also measure all the way around your palm at the knuckles. The measurements are usually the same, but if not, go by the larger number or compare to the sizes I have listed.

There is a loop and button to keep the flap back on each glove when not in use. I take pride in finding just the right buttons to adorn my creations with.

This handy pair of mitts have thumb flaps as well as a flap to cover the fingers.

Made of sturdy 100% cotton yarn, this tote bag is crocheted in bright Christmas Green, Red, and Yellow. It's huge measuring in at about 19"(48.3cm) deep from bottom center to upper edge and about 44"(111.8cm) around at the widest point. From top opening of the purse the strap gradually narrows to 3.25"(8.2cm) wide and is about 21"(53cm) from tote edge to top of shoulder. I left the strap a bit wider so it doesn't dig into your shoulder.

There's plenty of room to hold all your stuff: groceries, beach items, or use as an overnight bag. I even have a customer who uses hers for her laptop and school stuff. It's made with a denser stitch for privacy, unlike regular mesh shopping totes.

I photographed this tote with a pair of 2XL sweat pants inside to fill it out a bit.

Many hours of work go into making these wonderful totes. The yarn ends are securely woven in, not knotted, and the strap edges are reinforced. I just spent 4 hours doing the finishing work on this bag.

This Tote is easy care being machine wash and dryable. For best results remove before bone dry and shape.

Alpaca is 3X warmer than wool. It's a good alternative for people with wool allergies.

My mitts are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth. This is why they aren't one size fits most.

Big and Beautiful are two words which come to mind when looking at this wonderful cotton tote.

This bag measures an impressive 17"(43.2 cm) deep from bottom center to top opening and about 44"(111.8cm) around at the widest point. It's narrows again to about 34"(86.4cm) at the bag's top opening. From the upper edge of the purse the strap gradually narrows to about 3.25"(8.2cm) wide and is about 19"(48.3cm) to top of shoulder. Overall length from bottom to the top(middle) of strap is about 35" (90cm)

The colors in this tote are Desert Sand, Light Sage, Brown, and Persimmon.

Hot off my hooks are these wonderful convertible gloves with thumb flaps made in a wonderfully soft sports weight acrylic yarn to fit a child's hand. The color is called "Hot Spot" which is warm spicy browns with touches of deep purple.

These are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are fairly dense, with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth.

The idea for thumb flaps was given to me by a customer after trying to use a pen while wearing her new convertible gloves.

While great for texting in adult sizes, in toddler size they're great for eating snacks while still keeping hands warm.

This pair measures about 5.5"(14cm) in circumference and 5.25"(13.3cm) from wrist to tip of mitt without any stretching. The cuffs are about 2.25"(5.7cm) wide. These mitts should fit toddlers with room for growth up to 4-6 yrs.

FYI: a 2yr old's hands run about 5" around and 4" long. Hands grow in length much more than width.

The colorway is called "Citron", which is made up of yellows, greens and aqua. This yarn is made of 86.4% wool, 5% mohair and 8.6% acrylic. The mohair gives it a somewhat fuzzy texture. I'm very wool sensitive, but this did not make me itch while working with it!

Please Note: These mitts have traditional solid thumbs and do not have thumb flaps.

This pair measures about 5 7/8"(14.9cm) in circumference and 5.25"(13.3cm) from wrist to tip of mitt without any stretching. The cuffs are about 2.5"(6.3cm) long. These mitts should fit toddlers with room for growth to about age 6.

FYI: a 2yr old's hands run about 5" around and 4" long. Hands grow in length more more than width.

Here's a wonderful pair of convertible mitts for the person who can't or chooses not to wear animal fibers. I have been researching plant fibers but have found they are all for warmer weather items. Therefore, at this time the warmest choice of non-animal fiber is synthetic.

These Vegan friendly mitts are in a colorway called "Green Camo Ombre". It's shades of green and brown. The yarn is slightly bulkier than what I usually use.

These are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are fairly dense, with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth.

The idea for thumb flaps was given to me by a customer after trying to use a pen while wearing her new convertible gloves.

With a flick of your finger you can open the thumb flap and use a pen without removing your gloves. Or pop both thumb flaps and you can type on your computer or text away on your cell!!

This pair measures about 9"(22.8cm) in circumference and 8"(20.3cm) from wrist to tip of mitt without any stretching. After compensating for the density of the yarn these mitts will fit a hand about 7.25" to 8"(18.4cm-20.3cm) in size with room to spare. I'd state a larger size range but the cuffs turned out a bit narrower than expected. If you like loose mitts these may be just what you've been looking for. The cuffs are 3.5"(8.9cm) long.

Modeled on my 7.5" hand you can see they are slightly loose on me.

The color is "Brown Heather", a brownish gray mix.

I decided to use some of these delicious yarns to create some of my convertible mitts. This pair is made from a colorway called, "Florence", which contains beautiful Autumn shades of oranges and greens. This sports weight sock yarn is 70% wool and 30% nylon.

Hot off my hooks is this beanie with a slightly relaxed crown. This Vegan friendly hat is made with an acrylic yarn plied with a multi-color polymide thread in a colorway called "Frolic".

It's about 9.5"(24.1cm) deep and will fit a head up to 21.5"(54.6cm)in diameter. I've photographed it with the brim folded up as well as down. My mannequin has a big head so looks a bit tight on her.

Hot off my hook are these wonderful convertible gloves with thumb flaps made in a wool blend yarn in a colorway called, "Lemon Drop", lemon yellow with hints of shades of green and mustard.

This pair of beautiful mitts are made with a 75% wool,25% nylon superfine sock yarn and crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are fairly dense, with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth. The finger covering extends up to the first finger joint so little more than your fingertips are exposed. While I wouldn't shovel snow in sub zero weather while wearing these gloves they are perfect for areas with mild winters or for staying warm in a frigid workplace or classroom.

The idea for thumb flaps was given to me by a customer after trying to use a pen while wearing her new convertible gloves.

With a flick of your finger you can open the thumb flap and use a pen without removing your gloves. Or pop both thumb flaps and you can text away on your cell!!

This pair measures about 6 3/8"(16.2cm) in circumference and 8.25"(20.9cm) from wrist to tip of mitt without any stretching. These mitts will work well on long narrow hands. I wouldn't go over a 7.25"(18.4cm) wide hand, but length can be up to 8"(20.3cm) or so. The cuffs are about 3"(7.6cm)wide.

When you look in a mirror everything is reversed. So it is with these gloves!! I inverted the stripes on the second glove. They match, but don't.

This pair of wide striped mitts are made in the colors "Chocolate Brown", an intense rich brown and "Fisherman", the classic natural wool so popular in Aran knits.

The yarn is 20% wool for added warmth and 80% acrylic for durability.

These wonderful mitts are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are fairly dense, with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth.

Here's a bag with plenty of room to hold all your groceries, beach or school items, or use as an overnight bag. It's made with a denser stitch for privacy, unlike many cotton mesh shopping totes.

This 100% cotton tote is an impressive 18.5"(47cm) deep from bottom center to upper edge. It balloons out to about 46.5"(118.1cm) around at the widest point, then narrows to 37"(94cm)at the top. From top opening of the purse the strap gradually narrows to 3.25"(8.2cm) wide and is about 24"(61cm) to top of shoulder. I left the strap a bit wider so it doesn't dig into your shoulder.

Hot off my hook are these wonderful convertible gloves with thumb flaps made with a wool blend in the colors, "Lemongrass", light Split Pea, and "Purple", an intense vibrant purple.

I call this style "Opposites". One glove is lemongrass with purple stripes, the other purple with lemongrass stripes. The gloves are also styled so they look solid color when the flaps are buttoned back. When the flaps are down you can see the stripes!

There's 20% lamb's wool in this yarn to add warmth and the acrylic makes them durable.

These are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are fairly dense, with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth.

Here's a hat to keep your teen or tweenie toasty warm on the cold winter days ahead.

Created using strands of two different types of yarn held together it has a really nice nubby texture and it reminds me of frothy hot cocoa.

One yarn is a super nubby brown mix boucle, the other a worsted weight in sable brown. I added a length of taupe to each tie to complement the froth in the hat itself.

The hat measures about 11" from top to bottom of ear flaps. The ties, or tails are 10". It fits my 14 yr old daughter perfectly.

I decided to use some to create a pair of my convertible mitts. This pair contains shades of green, blue, and taupe. It's made of 75% wool and 25% nylon. I'm very wool sensitive, but this did not make me itch while working with it!

These gloves are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are a fairly dense light weight mitt with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth.

I fell in love with this yarn on sight and just had to try it. The color is called "Wasabi", a rich melon green with lighter nubs and is made of 85% Merino wool and 15% silk. I'm very wool sensitive, but this did not make me itch while working with it!

I've been hooking away making pair after pair of my convertible mitts but haven't made any matching accessories. I noticed my hat and scarf sections are bare so decided I should start to remedy the situation.

This wonderful little hat can be worn as a beret or pulled down and worn as a beanie. It measures 8"(20.3cm) from center top to bottom edge and 20"(50.8cm) around at the brim. The hat is made with rows of loose and tight stitches so you'll be warm without overheating.

This beret should fit a head up to about 22"(55.88cm).

Convertible Fingerless Gloves Mittens with Thumb Flaps in Pine Print, Size 6.25 to 7

Hot off my hook are these wonderful convertible gloves with thumb flaps made with a wool blend yarn in the colors, "Pine Print", intense forest shades of midnight and pine green with thin stripes of "Pale Yellow".

There's 20% lamb's wool in this yarn to add warmth and the 80% acrylic makes them durable.

These are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are fairly dense, with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth.

The idea for thumb flaps was given to me by a customer after trying to use a pen while wearing her new convertible gloves.

With a flick of your finger you can open the thumb flap and use a pen without removing your gloves. Or pop both thumb flaps and you can text away on your cell!!

I've added flaps to both thumbs so it doesn't matter if you're a righty or lefty. :)

This pair measures about 7.25"(18.4cm) in circumference and 7"(17.8cm) from wrist to tip of mitt without any stretching. After compensating for the density of the yarn these should fit a hand 6.25" to about 7" in size. The cuffs are about 3"(7.6cm)wide.

To find out your glove size measure from the base of your palm to the tip of your middle finger. Also measure around your palm at the knuckles. The measurements are usually the same, but if not, go by the larger number or check the numbers I have listed. If you have any question about how these gloves will fit your hand just send me your measurements.

There is a loop and button to keep the flap back on each glove when going fingerless. I try hard to find just the right buttons to accent each pair of gloves.

Made of an easy care acrylic/wool blend they are machine wash and dryable. I have prewashed them so there'll be no surprise shrinkage.

Hot off my hook are these wonderful convertible gloves with thumb flaps made with a 100% Superwash wool yarn which is 50% Merino, 50% virgin wool. The color is a classic "Camel".

These are crocheted using a tight thermo stitch so are fairly dense, with ample flap overlap to keep in the warmth.

Vegan Friendly Slouchy Swirled Beret in Cream

I've noticed slouchy hats not as large as the big floppy tams are becoming increasingly popular. Last week I was feeling adventuresome so grabbed some classic Aran, cream colored yarn and a hook to see what would develop. The result is a beret type hat which balloons modestly from the brim and ends with swirling ribs converging together at a matching crocheted button. This is made with fairly dense stitches so the hat is thick and has a bit of body to it.

This lovely piece measures about 11"(27.9cm) from center of button to bottom edge and 19.75"(50.2cm) around the brim (head opening). At the widest point it's about 26" 66cm)in diameter. This hat will fit a head up to 22".

Made of easy care acrylic the hat is machine wash and dryable. I have pre-washed this item so there will be no surprise shrinkage.

Orange Cotton Crochet Across Chest Large Hobo Shoulder Tote Bag

Made of 100% cotton yarn, this tote bag is a vivid "Sunburst" orange. It's a roomy 14"(35.6cm) deep from bottom center to upper edge where the straps start. It balloons out to about 44"(111.7cm) around at the widest point and near the opening decreases to 35"(88.9cm). From top opening of the purse the strap gradually narrows to about 3"(7.6cm) wide and is about 36"(91.4cm) from upper bag edge to upper bag edge. That's about 18"(45.7cm) to top of shoulder.

The strap and bag edges are reinforced for increased durability.

There's plenty of room to hold all your groceries, beach items, or use as an overnight bag. It's made with a denser stitch for more privacy, unlike regular mesh shopping totes.

This Tote is easy care being machine wash and dryable. For best results remove before bone dry and shape.

Wonderfully bold stripes in Black, Teal, and Purple liven up this extra large crocheted cotton tote.

This bag measures an impressive 18"(45.7 cm) deep from bottom center to top opening and about 46"(116.8cm) around at the widest point. It's narrows again to about 35"(88.9cm) at the bag's top opening. From the upper edge of the purse the strap gradually narrows to just over 3" (7.6cm) wide and is about 20.5"(52cm) to top of shoulder. Overall length from bottom of the bag to the top(middle) of strap is about 38" (96.5cm).

The strap can be worn on the shoulder or across the chest.

Here's a wonderful pair of convertible mitts made with a new wool blend yarn. This yarn is 56% Wool and 44% Polyester. The colorway is called, "Peachy Keen", peach, rose, and shades of green. This yarn is slightly nubby and is a light worsted weight.

Made of sturdy 100% cotton yarn, this tote bag is crocheted in bright pretty pastels, perfect for Spring! The colors include stripes of Lilac and Turquoise plus Potpourri which adds splashes of pinks, yellows and green.

This tote is even bigger than my others, ballooning out to 57"(144.8cm) from the bottom center then it decreases near the top to 38.5"(97.8cm. The bag portion of the tote is about 19"(48.3cm) deep from bottom center to upper edge. From top opening of the purse the strap gradually narrows to just under 3"(7.6cm) wide and is about 19"(48.2cm) from tote edge to top of shoulder, 38"(96.4cm)total strap length.

There's plenty of room to hold all your stuff: groceries, beach items, or use as an overnight bag. I even have a customer who uses hers for her laptop and school stuff. It's made with a denser stitch for more privacy, unlike regular mesh shopping totes.

I photographed this tote with a pair of 2XL sweat pants inside to fill it out a bit. There's a ton more room in it!!

Many hours of work go into making these wonderful hobo bags. The yarn ends are securely woven in, not knotted, and the bag opening and strap edges are reinforced. It takes about 4 hours just to do the finishing work on this bag after I finish crocheting.
