Muhly Grass seed -- zn 5-10

This listing is for 8 mg (~50 seeds) of my Muhly grass seeds.

Its long name is Muhlenbergia, and it's one fantastic plant. The leaves are very thin (almost like wire!) and a silvery green. At the end of the summer, the plant blooms and turns into a pink puff ball. The flower plumes are very fine and fuzzy, and my larger, mature plants really look like big, pink balls.

Muhly grass is a relatively diminutive grass and tops out at about 3-4'. It handles full sun to part shade and does well in my drought conditions, although the person who originally gave me my first plant said it needed lots of water.

This is one of my favorites to wintersow, so make sure to add it to your wintersown collection!

Speckled Roman is an interesting heirloom tomato. The fruits tend to be long and are red and a dark yellow/orange striped. These tomatoes are a meaty, robust tomato that are heavy yielders and make excellent sauces.

Tigerlike tomato seeds

This is a listing for at least 10 of my Tigerlike tomato seeds.

One of my new favorites! The plant is a small grower that produces tons of smaller, lovely striped fruits. The fruits are about 2-3" in diameter and orange and red stripes. They're quite exotic looking and make a very flashy addition to salads or sandwiches. The inside is a rich red.

As for flavor, these are something special. They have an unusual, smokey taste that's definitely not your average tomato. They've got firm flesh and make an excellent addition sliced on a sandwich.

Black Cherry tomato seeds

This is a listing for at least 10 Black Cherry seeds.

This is definitely not your average cherry tomato! Even my cherry tomato hating guy loves this tomato and asks me to grow it every year. It's not too sweet, not too tangy, and has that interesting 'black' tomato taste.

The fruits are dark shouldered and small and round. The plant produces plentifully, in 8-10 fruit bunches. They're tasty and fit into that 'garden candy' category. Yum!

Red Burgundy Okra seeds

This is a listing for 20 of my Red Burgundy Okra seeds.

I tried this cultivar of okra this year, and it's probably the best okra I've ever tried. Not only are the colors amazing, but the fruit is tender and very tasty.

The bright green leaves are freckled liberally with maroon, making a lovely contrast to the yellow, red-throated flowers, and deep burgundy pods.

It's a tough plant and does extremely well in our hot, dry climate, even in very poor soil. My patch is on a clay slab in the burning sun, and it's done well all summer, reaching heights of about 3'.

Jewels of Opar seeds

This listing is for 25 of my Jewels of Opar seeds.

This plant is also known as fame flower, and is a charming, tough plant, great in most any area. Mine tops out at about 12" in full sun, but my plants in the shade grow slightly taller. The leaves are thick, fleshy, and a vibrant green. The delicate, pink flowers show themselves from early spring until frost on long sprays.

Jewels of Opar is quite amazing in my book. I kept one of my plants in a tiny, tiny pot during a very dry summer, and it bloomed and bloomed and bloomed all year. They don't blink an eye at 100+ temperatures and no water. Even more amazing: they grow quite well in the shade, too!

It grows as a perennial in zones 7-10, but it does extremely well as an annual in any area.

This plant is also very suited to dry terrariums, container culture, and dish gardens. The amazing, tiny flowers are perfect for a fairy garden.

Pink Ruffled heirloom tomato seeds

Pink Ruffled is a great heirloom tomato of Mexican origin. It's a great tomato for container gardeners and gardeners who live in arid climates. It requires less water than almost any other tomato I've grown, and stays rather small.

This heirloom is a heavy producer and the fruits are on the small sid, pink, and very ruffled. They make a very attractive addition to shiskabob and arrangements.

Buffalo Rose seeds - zn 3-9

This is a listing for 15 Callirhoe involucrata seeds. The plant is also known as the buffalo rose, wine cups, or poppy mallow.

This is a pretty neat little plant. The spidery leaves are interesting to look at and the flowers are definitely something special. The deep purply color is amazing, and I love the simple, elegant shape of the flowers

The plant creeps on rhizomes, so it will spread. However, it doesn't cover the ground well enough to consider it a groundcover. It does well interplanted with a denser growing plant that can fill in the gaps. I haven't had any problems keeping it in check, but it might be more aggressive in more cushy conditions.

It does really well in full sun, even in drought conditions, making it a perfect addition to my gardens. Butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds also love the graceful little flowers.

This plant does well with wintersowing, so make sure to add it to your wintersown collection!

Seeds need to be scarified before planting. If you're uncomfortable scarifying them yourself, let me know and I would be happy to do that for you.

Armenian Basketflower seeds - zn 3-9

This listing is for 25 seeds of Centaurea macrocephala. It is also known as Yellow Hardhead, Giant Knapweed, or Yellow Fluff.

This is a wonderful, drought tolerant, sunloving plant. It does well in the hottest, brightest part of my yard, and has done well for the past two years.

The leaves are long and oval shaped, slightly fuzzy. They gather in clumps and send flower stalks straight up. On top of the stalks, brown, basket-like structures form before the bright yellow, strandlike flowers make their appearance.

These lovely yellow flowers attract bees, hummingbirds, and all sorts of pollinators. They make a great addition to your perennial beds and bee gardens. The flowers can be cut, dried, and used in flower arrangements.

Amaranthus Candelabra seeds

This is a pretty nifty plant. It's got a beautiful coppery pink foliage and dark fuschia flowers. The flower formation is very unusual, as you can see from the pictures, and resemble fuzzy spikes.

This plant is an extremely attractive ornamental grass. Mine stays about 2' tall, but it will top 3' if given more shade. The leaves are a bright green, but slowly turn a bronze color as seedheads mature. The plant itself is reminescent of bamboo.

The seed heads are extremely attractive and make for great winter interest, as well as interesting additions to bouquets and arrangements.

Northern Sea Oats is a wonderful native species and is protected in some areas.

Angel's Trumpet seeds

This listing is for 30 Datura metel seeds.

Datura is a fascinating plant. From the bluish-purple stems to the large white flowers, it's entirely lovely. Even more lovely is the fragrance that you'll be greeted with when you step outside in the evening. Makes a great addition to your night-blooming garden and a nice companion to my Nicotiana.

Lovely though it may be, this plant is toxic and not suitable for a child's garden, anywhere a child may be left unsupervised, or around pets. I would also recommend wearing gloves or washing hands well after handling the seeds or any other part of the plant.

These plants are only hardy in warmer climates (zn 8-9) but they're root hardy here in a well protected area -- zn 7a. They grow well, however, in most zones when planted as a reseeding annual. They love poor soil and roasting sun, making it an excellent choice for my back gardens.

Flowering Tobacco seeds - 'Fragrant Delight'

I love this plant! The soft, bright green leaves and white flowers are a lovely addition to any garden. The flowers open at night and create a powerful perfume. It's great to plant next to patios, walkways where you take your evening stroll, or anywhere you can enjoy it's delightful fragrance.

This fragrant tobacco does extremely well, here, and is one of my toughest plants. It doesn't have any trouble with full, all-day, unfiltered sun and very dry conditions. It attracts night pollinators.

Variegata Pepper

Variegata is one of my favorite peppers. Not only is the foliage gorgeous, but the changing colors of the peppers are striking and a wonderful accent.

The leaves on this plant are a medley of purples, whites, greens, and shades in between. I keep this plant indoor all year round, and it makes a lovely, attention-grabbing bit of green over the winter.

The peppers start out a dark, dark purple, slowly fading to green, and then turning a bright, fire-engine red. Don't let the small size of these peppers fool you -- they're very hot! I use them in the kitchen in soups and salsas, and a little bit goes a long way. The flavor isn't bitter or uninviting in anyway, making it a great addition to spicy tomato sauces, too.

Between the lovely appearance and the versatile fruit, this pepper is hard to beat. They're very tough and can handle extreme heat and sun without trouble.

Pansy Window Garden

Emerald Okra seeds

This is a listing for at least 20 of my Emerald Okra seeds.

This is my favorite okra cultivar ever! The plant produces tender fruits within two months and keeps going all summer. The fruit isn't as tough and fibrous as a lot of other varieties, and the 5-6" fruits are delicious -- if you like okra. :)

It's a tough plant and does extremely well in our hot, dry climate, even in very poor soil. My patch is on a clay slab in the burning sun, and it's done well all summer, reaching heights of about 4'.

I don't particularly like okra, but this is one of the tastier varieties that I've had. I grow it for the flowers and leaves, and my husband eats the fruit. It's a very attractive plant. Can you tell by the flower that it's a 'cousin' to the Hibiscus?

Buttercrunch lettuce seeds -- great for the South

This is a tasty, bibb lettuce that grows really well in my warm climate. It's usually happy into the 80s and is pretty slow to bolt, making it a great choice for southerners who like their salad.

I grow it all winter and spring, and it only bolts when days are steadily in the 90s. I've often had younger heads make it all of the way into fall.

The leaves are thick, sweet, and mild flavored, even in the summer. Even the ribs taste great!

Liatris seeds - zn 3-10

This listing is for 50 of my liatris seeds. Liatris is also known as Blazing Star, Gayfeather, and Snakeroot.

Liatris is one of my favorite plants. It's upright habit makes it easy to squeeze into tight places that need a flare of color or an interesting accent to mixed beds.

The flower spikes grow straight up to about 3' from grassy foliage and have whispy, lavender flowers that appear in late spring and through the end of summer. Pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, flock to this plant while it blooms, making it a great addition to any butterfly garden.

This plant is best winter sowed.

Catnip plant

This listing is for one catnip plant.

My adult plant suffers molestations by neighborhood cats all summer. It's a sturdy plant that springs up by morning after these evening rendezvous. It's very drought tolerant and handles the sun in a bed that gets all-day, direct sun, making it one of my favorite perennials.

It forms a stately bush with a very nice, dense form. In the late summer, it flowers with nice little blue flowers and is sterile, so you don't have to worry about it reseeding like crazy. The plant itself is very fast growing and makes a nice display the first year.

Even better, this plant has a lovely soft texture and delightful minty smell, making it a perfect addition to any 'sensory garden' or path-side plant that gets brushed up against. A friend's toddler loves to go out and pet this plant. :)

Cherokee Purple is a pretty well known favorite in the US. It supposedly was grown by the Cherokee Indians and passed down generation after generation.

The tomatoes are large, often approaching or breaking the 1 lb mark. They're slightly sweet and a great addition to sandwiches. The fruit has green shoulders and a purpley skin; the insides are a dark pink. The flesh has an amazing texture and has very few seeds. The small clumps of seeds are well distributed throughout the tomato.

This is one of my favorites to wintersow, so make sure to add it to your wintersown collection!

Brandywine tomato seeds

This is a listing for at least 10 of my Brandywine tomato seeds.

First things first. I kicked myself when I realized I hadn't taken a picture of the outside of this tomato! Why? Because it was a truly beautiful specimen. Large with smooth, reddish skin, and no cracks. Absolutely gorgeous and probably the most perfect tomato I've ever grown. Hopefully, the rest of this year's crop will compare.

That's alright though, because the insides were just as gorgeous. This tomato is a family favorite. There are very few seeds making this a very meaty tomato and about the best slicer you'll find. It's tangy and makes an excellent addition to salads and sauces where you need a little more zip. Brandywine is the tomato of choice for my tomato stollen, because of the lack of seeds and great flavor.

Brandywine has the unusual 'potato leaf' formation and pink fresh. This is also sometimes labeled 'Sudduths'.

Forsythia plant

This listing is for one forsythia plant.

Forsythia is a fast growing, highly ornamental shrub. In the spring, before the leaves appear and before anything else in the garden blooms, forsythia is covered with hundreds of bright yellow flowers.

These seedlings are from a gigantic 'mama plant' that I recently moved. The main plant was growing in terrible conditions, so I moved it and found that it had airlayered itself. Read more about that here: http://fluffnflowers.blogspot.com/2009/01/not-much-excitement.html

The plant that you will get will be 2-3' tall and overflowing a 1 gallon pot. These aren't babies! Many are already showing flower buds on them, so get them now and in your garden before spring.

Rose of Sharon (althea) turn into large bushes, relatively quickly. I have some two year old seedlings that are already 3' tall and blooming!

These are lavender, single flowers with a dark eye. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are always covering the trees when it blooms.

Hot Cherry Pepper seeds

This listing is for at least 20 of my hot cherry pepper seeds.

This pepper is near and dear to my heart and a product of my own breeding project. The peppers are about 1.5-2" in diameter, round, red, and utterly delicious. They're spicy, sweet, and amazingly tasty.

These plants do very well in bright sun and can handle extreme heat. They seem to be very pest resistant and tough little plants. I always keep one in a container, so that I can harvest the little lovelies all winter.
