This print was inspired by watching my daughter make daisy-chains. It brought back many memories. This is one of ten prints. It is a woodcut so there are some lovely suggestions of wood grain on the prints. The woodcut is printed on archival quality printmakers' paper.

Inspired by the playful dandelion clock, this is one of 20 prints that are printed on archival quality paper.

This print has three colours that were inked separately and put together like a jigsaw before printing. Edvard Munch used this technique in some of his prints. The lips are painted with watercolours.

This print is inspired by the nodding blue lily or stypandra glauca that is a native Australian plant. This image was carved into lino and printed by me. It is one of a limited edition of 30. It is printed with blue/purple ink while the green and yellow were added later with watercolours. These flowers have gorgeous yellow stamens and I have tried to do them justice. I am a big fan of the yellow and blue/purple combination.

These delightful 'Superb Fairy wrens' flit around our house, often in groups. The males have distinctive blue and black colours. Initially I was amazed by the male birds, but over time have come to love the little, plain females also.

This print depicts a Diamond Firetail Finch that is special to Eastern Australia. When these birds land in our bird-bath for a drink or a wash I get a real buzz. Their white spots on black and flashes of red are gorgeous.

This linocut was manually printed using a press, then hand-colored.

The central image measures 3 by 5 inches and the paper size is 8.1 by 8.3 inches.

This spring we have had many of these birds visiting the bottlebrush shrubs in our garden, often with five or more feasting at the one time. The linocut is printed on a thick printmaking paper called Dutch Etch.

This piece is a take on the wonderful stamp series designed by Reg Mombassa that featured some of the big tourist attractions in Australia ie. The Big Pineapple, The Big Merino, The Big Guitar (Tammworth) etc...

I thought that we needed one for Glenrowan and this is what I came up with. Ha Ha is a famous street artist in Australia and I think Ned Kelly is one of his favoured subjects. The portraits of Ned in the sky are based on those by Ha Ha.

There are twenty linocuts in this edition, all coloured in with watercolour pencils.

We love to go to 'The Tin Pot Cafe' when we visit Melbourne. This flat white coffee arrived on our green laminex table and I could not resist taking a photo of it. It is the simple things after all...

I have kept this edition small - only twelve prints - because it is time consuming to make. Each colour is printed from a separate block.

Much excitement and anticipation abounds regarding Cate Kennedy's first novel, The World Beneath. Cate is an admirer of my work and explained some of the key concepts behind her novel to me. Then I set about making this design. The publishers decided to go with a different cover but it was exciting to be invited to design one, nonetheless.

This is edition number four of a limited edition of twelve. The paper measures 30cm x 46cm (12" x 18") with a small white border around the image.

Do yourself a favour and find a copy of 'The World Beneath' (published by Scribe) - it is a great read, with references to Greek mythology throughout. The Tasmanian wilderness makes a awesome and bewildering backdrop for the story. The leaves in this print are from the 'Fagus' plant that is important within the story. I'll say no more...

This piece is designed to make viewers laugh and think. I hope that people will question the need for continual upgrades of technology and our throw away society. That is the intention - but, of course, with art, the reactions will vary from person to person.

This linocut print is printed on Fabriano paper, high quality printmaking paper. The edges have a torn look and will frame well with the edge of the paper visable. Therefore I would recommend it being float mounted in a box frame.

If you live in country Australia then you will 'get' this piece. In Spring cyclists like to adorn their helmets with zip ties to ward off the swooping magpie birds that are trying to protect their young. The zip tie look has become a trend in parts of the country.

Diamond Firetails - two spotted finches, a large color linocut print

I have all but sold out of my little version of the Diamond Firetail so I decided to make some more on a larger scale.

I carved the birds on lino, cut out each color, inked them up separately, then placed back together on the press bed for printing. Just like a puzzle.

These Nodding Blue-lily plants are commonly found in coastal and woodland areas of Australia. It is a native plant that can survive in poor soil. I have been waiting for spring to arrive so I could take a closer look at the flowers. Just gorgeous.

I have printed this in four colours, all on the one piece of wood, removing parts once they have been printed. (reduction print)

The Silk Cut award received 600 entries this year and only 50 were selected. This piece is similar to my successful entry. I made an edition of ten but they are all unique within that edition. This print is numbered as 6/10 on the back so as not to interfere with the image.

It is a 'bleed print' which means that the image goes right to the edge of the paper. I therefore recommend 'float mounting' the image within a box frame.

I made this print in 1995. It is the last of the edition of eight that I made. It was printed using two blocks of lino - one for the red thread and body and one for the black outline. This image is based on my old Knitting Nancy that I used to knit with for hours as a child. Yes, I know I am a 'geek!'

This woodcut print was carved and printed in stages using the one block of wood. It is loosely based on a photo of an owl that I took when holidaying in Indonesia. It lived at Taman Sari, the Water Palace in Yogyakarta.

Wrens' Day - Unique State linocut print

This piece took an hour to print. Each small wren was inked up and stamped within a stencil of a larger bird. The print for sale here is number seven of an edition of ten. Each print is unique because the smaller stamps were placed and layered in different ways.

It is based on the female of the Superb Blue Fairy Wrens that are found in Eastern Australia. Their numbers are decreasing as natural bush gets replaced by houses and lawns (while larger birds that like lawns, such as magpies and currawongs, are increasing in numbers.) We have a native garden and no cats so we are lucky to see these wrens every day. Every day is the Wrens' day at our place!

The paper size is 65.5cm x 52cm (25.5"x20.5")

This linocut print is based on the Superb Blue Fairy wrens that frequent our garden, including our herb garden. Some wrens built a nest in our sage plant last spring. The pattern on the bird is based on a sketch of our sage. These birds keep watch and communicate to each other when danger is near.
