This one may look similar to Jody's Jade from a distance, but don't be fooled. There's a treasure trove of little memory images lurking behind the glass. Some of the images you'll see include an old chandelier hanging from an antique tiled ceiling, little critters, such as you might find hanging out in the attic, like a moth, a ladybug and a caterpillar to name a few. There are some other textures and stamps scattered randomly under the surface of the glass. Mixed in with the glass are a few other elements, such as buttons, a couple hand made tiles, and some mini photo frames. This piece was so much fun to make and I hope you have just as much fun finding all the hidden elements. The frame is an old antique I found in my grandma's attic.

(The window frame in the background is not included! :)

Glass tribute to my favorite large land mammals. Yes, another one, I know. This one's got a nice little surprise under the glass, not only with a lovely floral print, but also (real) pressed daisies. Silver colored elephant embellishment adorning the circular mirror in upper right hand corner, all in a vibrant array of tropical colors.

My friend Jody commissioned me to make three pieces out of these materials. I have to give her credit for the colors--she picked them out, but I loved working with them so much, that I had to make another.

The piece is 11x14 inches outside the frame, which is black and store bought, but nicely distressed by me.

Somewhere along the way, something about this piece reminded me of the French countryside.

25"x 25" square piece with 2" frame. Inner frame is metal and measures at 10" square with 3" opening. Oh, and this piece is pretty heavy.

Look carefully under the transparent pieces of glass and you'll see few iconic images, the words "christian liberty" and the name "Luther" along with tidbits of text from Luther's work by this name.
This is a great piece for the theologian in your family that's ever so hard to shop for.

The frame is wood and hand distressed, the cross iron.

Shattered by Grace (Take Two)

God looks at His children, covered by grace, and sees only the cross. When I look at this mirror, I can't see myself anymore because the image of what I was before Christ has been shattered by what He did on the cross.

(After making the first version of Shattered by Grace I just couldn't stop and had to try again, this time with a whole new color scheme and a different style of frame. Take a peek at my sold items to see the first of the series.)

Shards of mirror and stained glass of red, amber and a creamy ivory swirl surround a rectangular mirror topped with an ornate wooden cross. The piece is grouted in smoky charcoal and glazed with a sealant to keep the glass shiny. The frame is heavy wood stained brown and trimmed with gold paint. Frame opening is 11x14. Ready to hang.
