This is a photograph taken by my husband Nathan on a trip to Liberia West Africa several years ago. One of the members of the village owned and loved this dog and took care of it, even though most everyone was unemployed and having a pet was unusual. He even went so far as to decorate his dog with india ink and it certainly was one of a kind! You will receive an 8 by 10 print (other sizes upon request) on high quality photo paper using archival quality pigment ink guaranteed for 80 years.

SMALL HUGBABY BY BRYNN MUSLIN DOLL ETSY FOR AUTISM

Hugbaby is a heat transfer image of a drawing by my seven year old daughter with Aspergers Syndrome (a type of Autism) on a hand stitched muslin doll with print backing. Each one is slightly different, but the picture of the Hugbaby is the same and each is signed "Hugbaby by Brynn" on the bottom. Big Hugbabies are around 6" tall. BACKING PRINT WILL VARY. Each doll is one of a kind, even though the art is the same.

The photos show both the small and big Hugbabies with Brynn, the artist. (there is also a picture of my son Ryan (who has "classic" Autism) with them because he just had to get in on whatever big sis is doing!)

The story of the Hugbaby is that my daughter never had an interest in coloring or drawing as a small child. It is not uncommon for autistic children to have a very narrow range of interests, so we just focused on the things she did enjoy. Suddenly at the age of 5, she became very interested in drawing and went from never having drawn anything in her life to drawing very beautiful pictures, including the Hugbaby which is a self-portrait and was one of the first pictures she ever drew. She has continued to draw very beautiful and intricate pictures, many of which she uses to process events and communicate feelings.
It is a common myth that autistic children are not interested in making friends or are not affectionate. I think that myth is very soundly dispelled by this picture. Although Brynn often has difficulty understanding social rules and may be oversensitive to physical affection, she has a great desire to be friends with people. We are fortunate to have some very precious children who are patient with her and see past her differences.

MY AUTIST LOVES ME TOTE BAG AUTISM AWARENESS ETSY FOR AUTISM CONTEST ENTRY

We all love the people in our lives with Autism, but I want the world to know that people with Autism LOVE US BACK!! The thing I hear that makes me most sad when people talk about Autism is the myth that people with Autism Spectrum Disorder do not have emotions or cannot or do not feel or show love. My children with Autism love me, they show me every day in their own special ways.
This tote bag is white with pale turquoise lining and silky turquoise straps that tie into large eyelets. It has a generously sized zipper pocket inside.
The Hugbaby featured on the front was drawn by my daughter Brynn when she was 5. Brynn is on the Autism spectrum and had never drawn anything or shown any interest in coloring or drawing until the age of 5 when literally overnight she began to draw very expressive and detailed pictures. The Hugbaby is a self portrait and is one of the first pictures she ever drew. She continues to draw prolifically now as she approaches the age of 7. Her art is featured on onesies, Hugbaby stuffies, cards, and now this bag as a way of letting the world know that people on the Autism Spectrum have a lot to give!

This unique tube scarf is my original design and is knitted with 100% wool yarn that has matching acrylic and cotton accent threads woven through it in sea green and blue shades. On a child it can be used as a hand warmer as the ends are open... you can also use it to store your mittens when you are at school or it is in the closet waiting for a snowy day. 4 and a half feet long by 4 inches wide when laid flat. Would work nicely for an adult or a child.
