This topper was created using a pattern from OLD GLORY WOOLEN CO. Thanks, Sarah! It is a wonderful pattern that can go in many different ways. If you look at the picture with the trio I've created, you'll see how unique each one can be. Whether you celebrate Christmas or Yule, I may have a star for your tree. Please note the star with an Isis Moon created especially to celebrate solstice! These stars are approx 9 inches high by 12 inches wide.

With Christmas just around the corner, THIS tree topper would be perfect for your old-fashioned Christmas tree. Made of ivory velveteen with a 4 inch circle of hand hooked wool on linen. This particular topper has a Christmas tree (out in the woods) surrounded by night sky complete with a sprinkling of sequins that will reflect twinkling lights. The hint of a star in gold wool rests at the top of the tree, but otherwise it is hooked simply in several tones of green.

Enchanting Pumpkin - Smallest from Upcycled Beaded Coat

Upcycling is a lot like treasure hunting! This pumpkin and several other items were made from an orange beaded coat that I discovered. This pumpkin is the smallest one. It is approx 3.5 inches tall and about 3 inches in diameter at the base. Rather like the smaller pumpkins you might find at the grocery. Stuffed with polyfill, and with an added upcycled wool stem stitched to its top. If you look at the pics of all three pumpkins you get a better idea of relative size.(Look at the wall behind the pumpkins)

The coat was washed in cold water with soap, to protect it from damage and still endeavor to clean the fabric. The pumpkin is decorative and while it might be great in a cornucopia, it shouldn't be used on a serving dish.

It has 2 larger pumpkin companion pieces. One medium sized and one larger. These pumpkins will be with me at Discovery Green in Houston on the 3 Sunday afternoons in November and December that I'll be at the Green Market. Hand Hooked Canning Jar w Pickles Rug or Mat

The design for this mat is a remembrance of my Mother In Law. She was an awesome home manager, and canning was just one of her many skills. Her pickles were delicious, and a fixture at lunches.... She could have launched a deli with these delicious and crunchy gems.

This mat is approx 5" by 7" in size. Just a perfect size to tuck into a basket as a backdrop for tools or tiny treasures. The pickles are hand dyed wool, but the remainder of the mat is primarily Upcycled Woolen garments.(washed and clean)

If you are a hooker who loves to can, and would like a pattern for this mat, drawn onto linen, or even a paper pattern please convo me. This is my own design, and could be drawn in a variety of sizes, or with tomatoes, carrots, green beans, or your favorite... We can work out an alchemy for a pattern. ;)

Penny Polka Dots Hand Hooked Rug - Mat Wool on Linen Foundation

A simple somewhat whimsical combination of a hooked Penny stack, and some random polka dots with colors that blend.

The size of this mat is approximately 5" by 7" and it is made of upcycled woolen garments(all washed and clean) with some hand dyed wool as well. Upcycling is the artistic cousin of recycling if you are not familiar with the term.

The colors are neutrals with a touch of blues and greens. Just big enough for a small decoration on a shelf or backing other items in a basket. Perhaps under a small vase of flowers, or even a warm dish or mug.

This mat is still being finished, as you can see in the photo. This isn't a time consuming process, so if you want it quickly, I could finish it in an evening. :)

Linen Foundation for a Hooked Rug featuring The Statue of Liberty's Crown

My Original Design, Lady Liberty's Crown has been copied onto Primitive Linen. The design area is a 14 inch square.Because of the generous edge(4 inches on each side) you could add a border to make it larger, but the border is to make it easy for you to place on a frame.

In honor of the reopening of Liberty's Crown, I will be offering free shipping with the purchase of this background.

The design features an American Flag moving in the wind. In the foreground is the crown, forehead and a portion of our Lady's eyes. It is intended to be a hopeful, patriotic design. I love the beauty of our Lady, and the way she is a symbol of our country.

You will receive the linen foundation, with the design done in Sharpie marker. This picture is of the first one I sold, if you purchase a foundation, I'll make one like it, just for you! A color picture of my finished rug will be included, to give you one possible way to finish it.

The edge of the foundation will be securely finished to prevent unraveling.

Comfort Doll - Nun CPLG, OFG, EtsyFOLK softee healing

There is a wonderful internet project called the Comfort Dolls, which inspired this particular little nun. The story of how she came into being is told more completely on my blog, where you can also link to the internet project.

I'm in the process of creating a pattern for comfort dolls, which you could make to contribute to the project, or make as comfort gifts to people you know. These are not intended as an item for a child, it has beads and a metal cross that could come off and present a choking hazard. This is intended for an adult who might be in need of prayers for their healing. You could keep it with you as a reminder to pray, or for other reasons.

It is not blessed by a priest or any clergy person. But it was made in my non-smoking home with love and awareness. Bring a healing peacefulness with this tiny nun who is slighty less than 6 inches tall, and slighty less than 4 inches wide.

This is a hand hooked rug, made with both upcycled and hand-dyed wool. It is hooked into a vintage burlap pattern. The word Hark was added by me, in addition to the musical symbols, as the Angel made me think of Christmas Eve. It is finished with a single crocheted edge of 100 % wool that matches the color of the sky.

The gown of the angel, her wings, and the trumpet contain upcyled wool strips from a variety of 100% wool garments that were felted by me for use in rughooking.

The dimensions of this table rug, make it perfect for display along with candles or other Christmas decorations. Merry Christmas!

Liberty's Crown and Flag Hand Hooked Rug/Mat PRHG, CPLG, OFG, EtsyFOLK

This listing is for a finished mat. It has been hooked in #7 and #8 wool strips. The strips are a combination of hand dyed and as it wool. The patina green is caused by my own over dying process, on other wool.

My original design is of our very own Statue of Liberty, the tip of her torch, and our flag waving behind her. It is slightly rectangular at approx. 13 inches by 14 inches.

The 100% wool strips are hooked into a foundation of pure linen, and finished with 100%wool edge work as well. The second picture shows the back of the piece. Edges are finished with wool and ends hand turned and stitched. I over dyed some of the wools, to catch the feeling of the patina that changes her color.

**I have listed a foundation, separately for another rug hooker to make her own mat. If you are interested in a foundation of your own, you can convo me.

Hurricane Ike Survivor Hurricane Repellant Hex Signs CPLG, OFG, EtsyFOLK, ETC

No doubt you heard about our Hurricane Ike. Texans are a hardy lot, but I hope to never go through another hurricane as bad! With that purpose in mind, I've created a special Hurricane Hex Machine... a rusty bed spring(not necessarily from TX)approx 6.5 inches tall. Wool pennies with hex signs blanket stitched to their reverse, and a tag set. The tags in the third picture show them. I have limited amounts of these springs and the shape you receive will depend on available supply. That choice will be made by me. You are purchasing only ONE spring, although picture shows two to demonstate that differences in shape exist.

Also there is No WARRENTY, REAL OR IMPLIED, that this spring will actually prevent another huge hurricane from putting us in its path. Life brings challeges, and this is meant to put a humorous spin on hurricane season. This is to the best of my knowledge, my own idea, please do not copy!

Sharing My Wool rug hooking pattern on linen background.

This pattern is my original design and will be on drawn onto a linen background. I working on a smaller version paper pattern, with permission to enlarge or reduce for personal use only. Convo if you are interested in a paper pattern before it appears in my shop. If you live on another continent I'm willing to ship at cost, convo me with your address so I can let you know what that would be, and I could set up a reserved sale for you if you wish it.

The rug is 20 inches by 25 inches with a generous 4 inch extension on each side to allow easily putting it on your frame or hooping. The picture is of my own version of this rug, which uses a hit and miss background. NOTICE my adaptation of the lamb's tongue shape to look like a cat's front paws set in pairs around three sides of the rug. Along the bottom edge of the rug is the caption, Sharing My Wool. Those of us with cats do share our wool. In fact, this caption could be taken whimsically to mean that the cat is sharing the wool they so love to sleep on with us!

To achieve the pattern on my cat, I took a picture of him sleeping in the basket, (he is frequently out hunting in the evening when I'm hooking):) I used textures from upcycled men's sportcoats *between 6-12 different wools* Did variations in the cat paws to show different looks. If you have a seal point, a marmalade tiger, a tuxedo cat or virtually any other type, you could immortalize them with this rug. Long haired cats can have proddy parts or long cut strips worked for their tails or wherever you need to add fluffiness.

If you are interested in a custom hooked portrait of your own cat, but not a rug hooker, I would welcome an alchemy request in my custom work button. Ball park for a rug of the same size would be $200 - $300 dollars. I would need to have a photo of the cat or more than 1, preferably including any specific markings on the face or body, to be successful.

This rug is actually an adaptation of a design by Lori Brechlin of Notforgotten Farms. notforgottenfarm.etsy.com
The pattern/backing was done by Spruce Ridge Rugs on Monks cloth. All original copyrights are held by them.

I've finished redoing the outside of the rug, and changed the price to reflect the additional materials and time. The wool used for hooking is 100% wool, and is a combination of upcycled and lovely hand dyed wools. The rug is 31.5" x 26" or a little over 2 feet tall by nearly a yard in length. Over 40 hours of work in the hooking itself. The edge has been turned and covered with a wool strip and then whipped with two shades of a luscious yarn that combines mohair and a sparkly lurex strand.

I tried to capture my idea of "drawing down the moon", the gathering of strength and power. So far as I know this is my own adaptation of the design, in transforming the background. The background is subtle in suggesting a hand reaching from the witch toward the moon. A star rests on the ring finger of the hand, if you are having trouble finding it. The shadow cast by the witch has something of interest if you look carefully too. Blessed be all who wish harm to none.

I'll be changing the pictures again, but this rug is currently in a treasury, so not changing the photo that connects to it until then. The two lower pictures show closeups of the finished edge to help you to see the reflective strands of yarn. To me, the new finishing has improved the rug enormously. It helps to visually portray the energy I was imagining.

Dragonfly Makedo Celebrate the Lazy Days of Summer ETC, EtsyFOLK, OFG

Summer is in full swing. This dragonfly makedo is made from a rusty bedspring, chicken wire, and a teadyed fabric that reminds me of awnings because of its stripes. The eyes are two vintage buttons with rhinestones whose facets seemed just perfect! The tag says "lazy days" When the weather turns cool, this makedo can remind you on fall and winter nights of wonderful warmer weather ahead...

There are two separate wings, and the loose wires have been bent around the sections to lessen the sharp points. But they are made from chickenwire, so not all that smooth and finished. This makedo is not intended for use around children or for decorating a child's room.It is definitely not a toy for children's use.

The body of the dragonfly is approximately 12 and 1/2 inches in length. The chickenwire wings have a span of about 12 inches as well. Because this is a 3 dimensional sculpture,the height is approx 9 inches.It is pictured sitting on a dresser we have in our front hall, on the rocks near our pool, and on a small table(I was having a hard time getting a picture that shows off the chicken wire wings.
