American Angel by Isabel Castaneda Necklace

This is a LIMITED EDITION Signature Series necklace. The series features the artwork of Peruvian painter Isabel Castañeda.

Castañeda came to America in the 1980's from Lima, Peru. Her paintings are characterized by vivid colors and rich symbolism.

In “American Angel” Castañeda celebrates the connection between European rocker Bono (lead singer for U2) and the United States of America. First, she expresses her appreciation for Bono's spiritually moving music by depicting him with angel wings. She then gives the scene a patriotic flair with stars & stripes that commend Bono for his dedication to US-based charities, such as the ONE Campaign (a nonpartisan, non-profit that aims to increase US funding for & effectiveness of international aid programs).

This is a LIMITED EDITION Signature Series necklace. This series features the artwork of Peruvian painter Isabel Castañeda.

In “America's Great Commission” she celebrates the abundance & hope that she found when she came to the United States, and represents them with a bottle of wine & an Easter lily. She expresses her pride in becoming a US citizen by including a Native American woman wearing the hat of Uncle Sam. In "America's Great Commission" Castañeda also reminds us that the United States carries much responsibility & the weight of the world on its shoulders--this is illustrated by the necklace & heavy globe pendant that is around the woman's neck.
