"Introduction

While this tutorial is geared toward those who have had some experience with blowing hollow vessels, I have also included basic blowing instructions for the hollow newbie. If you have not blown hollow vessels before, you may want to practice with a few basic bubbles before continuing on.

Hopefully, you will attain better heat control along with the skills to make a goofy mouth vessel. I encourage you to read through the tutorial before sitting down at the torch."

****This tutorial requires nothing more than basic lampwork tools, 1/4" hollow mandrel and 104 COE glass. It includes: 16 pages, 58 color photos plus some bonus variations suggestions to have fun with.***** The size is a 2.65 MB PDF file.

This goofy mouth vessel was made by me in my home studio, properly kiln annealed, and cleaned of bead release.

The cork and wire assembly are securely attached to a fan pull assembly for easy hanging.

This mouth vessel is 30mm top to bottom, 35mm side to side, and 28mm front to back. The chain is approximately 8 inches.

This guy's about as geeky as they come, complete with yellow bow tie. He is 1 3/4" top to bottom, 1 1/2" side to side, and 1 1/4" front to back.

Major Geek started life as a glass bubble on the end of a hollow tube, with a hole purposely blown out to create his mouth. He was made by me in my home studio, from Italian glass rods, properly kiln annealed, and cleaned of bead release. He will arrive with a cork in his head, but it is for decorative purposes only.

This guy has just been caught and is trying to intimidate you out of lifting him into the boat. Don't be scared. He's fairly harmless.

He is carnelian in color with pale blue stripes. A feather camouflages his cork and brass wire hanging assembly. He measures approximately 2 1/4 inches tall (not including feather) and 3/4 inch wide.

Bobbie is sort of a cross between a cow and a dog, so I'll let you decide which he is.

His torso and head are both hollow, while the grass and legs are solid, providing a stable base. He stands 3 3/4" tall. He's got a strong spring to avoid banging his tongue on his chest, but still provides plenty of bobble action!!
