An organic pattern stitched into this form reminds me of the beautiful patterns of a turtle's shell. Hand crocheted and hand formed for a lovely shape.

Hand crocheted stainless steel and bare copper wires come together in a hanging pod form to feed the hungry winter birds. Meant for suet or large sunflower seed, this piece is unique and a favorite place for the birds to cling to, some even get right inside and chow. This form is one of my signature shapes that I call Lantern, perfect gift for the bird lover on your list. Comes with a package of suet from the National Audubon Society to get started.

Pieces measure approx. 15" ( 38 cm) long X 7" ( 18 cm) wide, and easy to clean.
I used bare copper wire which may patina over time and weather which is part of the beauty. Please contact me if you would like to custom order another color combination with the stainless steel.

A Pair of Oriole Nests

This piece is just like my other oriole nest, but with a friend. These two are independently crocheted and join together at the top with an additional loop for hanging. You can maneuver the loop area for ideal hanging conditions, maybe you have somewhere to hang them so they can be seen in the round.....or maybe you like them on the wall, whatever your preference you can adjust the piece to be sure it hangs the way you like.

Measurements:
Larger nest: 16"(40.64cm) long and the basket is approx 2.5"(6.35cm)wide X 3"(7.62cm) deep
Smaller nest: 12"(13.48cm) long and the basket is approx 2.5"(6.35cm)wide X 2.5"(6.35cm)deep

You can use these to hold a small glass of water with flowers or plant cuttings, or dried flowers, or leave them empty, maybe fill with tiny treasures. Whatever you choose they're very unique and decorative, filigree but strong.

These nests were made with 24 and 26 gauge colored copper wires.
If you like these but would like them in some other colors, just ask, no extra charge for customizing. If I have the colors you want are in stock, please allow 1-2 business days once payment is received for nests to ship. If I need to order material, it will be closer to 5 days.

I was thinking about tulips, sea creatures and outer space.....the Chandelier is the result of those thoughts ;)
This delightful organic form is perfect for holding some of your small treasures and essentials, or simply hanging on its own, a unique filigree sculpture.

Hand crocheted with blue, brown, and bare copper wires, and comes with a hand forged steel S hook that you can see in the photo. Enclosed will be an ample length of monofiliment (fishing line) so you can adjust the hanging height to suit your space and needs. Maybe you hang it in the bathroom and keep some of your small accessories in it, or by the bed for little things like chapstick, small lotions or jewelry. Hanging Stone Vase

This is another collaborative effort we've created.
The stone vase is cored quartzite stone which is native to Vermont. It's blueish in color and extremely hard. Charles cored it into a vase and finished it off with some gold leaf, and I crocheted a hanging basket for it to nest in. I used 24 gauge copper and 26 gauge colored copper wires, the hanging loop is large enough to accommodate most hanging devices, ie. nails, hooks, screws......the loop is close to 1"(2.54 cm) in size.

This piece is approx. 10"(25.4 cm) long, the cup and basket are 3.25"(8.255 cm) long and 2"(5.08 cm) wide.
The vase could hang nicely near a window and hold some pretty flowers or a plant cutting, also looks nice on a wall.

This item ships first class unless otherwise requested.
We take care in shipping all of our pieces, but don't be shy with the work once you receive it, the crocheted metal can be manipulated to a certain degree, once you have taken it out of the box, help it get it's shape back in order to have it looking it's best in your home*

Hand crocheted with pacific blue, true blue, teal and black copper wires, this piece is a nice little jewel toned accent to add to any room with some lovely fresh cut flowers or a great place to sprout plant cuttings. Measures approx. 12" ( 30.5 cm) long and the vase is 2.5" ( 6.4 cm) wide X 4" ( 10.16 cm ) long. Hanging loop is just like my other hanging pieces, about 1" (2.5 cm) round.
Glass vase was collected from old unused chemistry equipment, the shape is interesting all together makes a unique piece.

This hanging vase is made with 26 gauge colored copper, (green and black) it measures approx. 14.5"( 36.8 cm) long X 2" ( 5 cm) wide and 4.5"(11.43)deep. The glass vase is some very interesting chemistry glass which hasn't been used before, nice and clean. And quite a nice shape*
I think this is a great vase for a spider plant baby, the roots sprawl in an interesting way and would look great in the U shape. So if you'd like me to send a baby spider plant along, I will if you live in the U.S., (free gift*) otherwise anything you might place in there would be interesting too. As you can see in the picture I only have one plant on one side, this is so as it needs water you wouldn't have to disrupt the plant, just add water to the other side of the tube*

Prairie Green Utensil Holder

A lovely stone utensil holder, 3 slots for some of the important cooking tools you need.
The holes are open all the way through, so cleaning this beauty is simple*

This is the prairie green granite that I believe is from Canada, the same stone I used for 2 of my thin vases.

The surface of this piece has been honed, for a nice soft casual finish, I make my stone pieces from cut offs of stone I use in my sculpture or in our masory business, usually no pieces are alike, and some slight imperfections are common, I occasionally correct the flaws, but sometimes I leave or enhance them, they are characteristics that add to the beauty*

Nesting Bowls

A pair of bowls that nestle one into the other, useful for many different items.. or alone as decor. Deep into the center of the large bowl is a jewel toned pool of emerald green, in the center of the small bowl is a pool of shimmering earth brown, lovely accents to the hand crocheted copper form. Crocheted by hand means that I don't use a hook, I like to let the metal show it's character as I stitch and like to feel it in my hands as I go along and then shape the form. These pieces are double walled and reinforced with titanium rings.
Casts nice shadows and signed on the bottom, a good conversation piece for any style.

Large bowl measures approx. 9" wide X 3" tall ( 23 X 7.6 cm)

The Jade Pot

I had a new idea of how I wanted to construct a bowl and felt inspired by Asian artifacts.
This piece is the result of that, it is made with bronze and colored copper metals.
It is approx. 6"(15.24 cm) wide and 5"(12.7 cm) tall.

It has flexibility to it but is very structural and strong, you could place a glass or piece of pottery inside of it to display flowers, or dried or fabric flowers. All alone it's a very decorative and attractive piece, for someone who enjoys green, brown, copper and bronze and a touch of the ornate.

This dish is multi-faceted and gilded in gold. One of a kind, made of high grade Danby marble in the studio of Westside Stoneworks by artist Charles Austin. Highly finished on top with process left showing underneath, a raised ring sets the dish off the table so it seems to float.
Reminiscent of ancient mirrors made of metal with a highly polished dome, this piece is very ornate. Signed and dated by the artist.

Open Lantern

A small version of my large lantern sculptures made with jewel toned colors and copper accents. An organic form that catches the light nicely and casts filigree shadows, hand crocheted with two openings in case you feel the need to place something inside ;)

This piece is made with 26 gauge colored copper wires, and though it is strong heavy items will stretch form, which also can be lovely, but good to be aware of before you decide what if anything goes inside.

Could be a lovely place for fresh dried flower buds and herbs allowing the scent to hang in the air, or maybe a place for practical items like your toothbrush and paste, or a few favorite wooden spoons. The possibilities are endless and even better this piece is lovely on it's own too and would be a pretty ornament to any style of decor.

This vase is made from a stone that is called prairie green granite, not sure but it might be from Canada. It is 5" (12.7cm) tall and 1 5/8" (4.2cm) wide the rim is gilded in gold.

The walls of this vessel are so thin that it's pretty light weight for stone, but it holds liquid quite well. Very elegant and attractive.

This dish is handcarved soapstone and the constellation Hydrus is carved into the dish, and gilded in gold.
It measures 8.75"(22.225cm) wide and total thickness is 1.25"(3.17cm). The bottom of the plate tapers so the rim thickness is .5"(1.27cm).

Hydrus plate weighs 3.75lbs.(1.7kg), rugged and lovely, with a nice finish.

oriole nest

This hanging basket is made with 24 and 26 gauge colored copper wire. Crocheted into this elegant hanging form. People often comment the similarity to an orioles nest, so I decided to title it that, however that was not my intention when I first made it. But I like the similarity.
This basket measures 15"(38.1cm) long and the basket is approx. 2"(5.08cm)wide and 3.5"(8.89cm) deep. These are nice filigree baskets that can hold a small glass with water and cut flowers or plant clippings if you like. Looks nice hanging near plants or by a window.

A Round of Color

This piece is made with a variety of metals, and full of great color*
I have put some extra hand work into this bowl, the curled ends of the aluminum frame have all been hand filed. The bronze ring that adorns the rim has been hammered and shaped to make a nice finish on the ends. This was a time consuming piece, very enjoyable to make.

It measures approx 6" (15.24 cm) wide and 4"(10.16 cm) deep.
I've used 18 gauge anodized aluminum and bronze.
20 gauge anodized aluminum
24 gauge stainless steel
and 26 gauge colored copper.

All together they make a festive piece and have been crocheted together to create a strong bowl form which makes a lovely conversation piece and so nice to hold, very tactile.* Signed on the bottom*

This line of baskets are in a size range of approx. 3"(7.62cm)-4.5"(11.43cm) wide and approx. 2"(5.08cm)- 3.5"(8.89cm) deep. I play with the final shape as well, some round, oval, or tapered, etc. The 2 pictured here are made with 24 gauge copper, nickel and brass. They make a great catch all for pocket stuff, change, gum, keys, etc. There are rocks in the bowls you see here because more often than not, that's what you'll find in my pockets.

A dish using texture inspired by the octopus that appears on several of my larger stone sculptures .

Walking along shore is an opportunity to find treasures, artifacts, and bits of the mysterious sea. The tide washes them out of the deep blue and into our world where stories and questions form and wonder lives. That is where this piece came from... the ocean depths where the salty water and tumbling tide polished and marred it's surface. Now that it's been found, it hangs from a hook and shines in the light that it hasn't been exposed to in ages reminding us that there are many stories that are still untold from the deepest parts of the sea.

Piece hangs approx. 20" long and 12.5" out from the wall (50.8 X 31.75 cm)
comes with hand made steel bracket and 2 mounting screws.
Weighs approx. 4 lbs.

Marble Soap Dish

I've started getting into Vermont Danby Marble, so white and lovely and the crystals just shine. This dish is larger than my granite dishes I've been selling, it measures approx. 4.25" ( 10.8 cm) long X 3.25" ( 8.3 cm) wide X 1.75" ( 4.4 cm) tall.
I have hand cut and honed each one and left certain areas natural, a natural stone is a beautiful thing to admire ;)
A lovely accent to any style, and a unique gift as well.

These dishes have been sealed and will not stain.

I built this lovely with quite the variety of materials..........
18 gauge anodized aluminum
26 gauge colored copper
jerusalem artichoke canes, harvested from my yard and dried
fibers from the utah agave plant, collected from dead leaves on the trail of the grand canyon
24 gauge anodized titanium
28 gauge yellow brass
20 and 24 gauge bronze
all woven and crocheted by me, into a tactile basket form which casts a lovely shadow when light is passing through it.It measures approx 4.5"(11.43 cm) wide and 4.5"(11.43 cm)deep.

This piece is very strong and you can feel the flexibility when you gently squeeze it.
I love to combine these plant materials with metals, I leave the plants pretty raw, I love their natural texture and juxtaposed with the metal, I find it an interesting contrast. The plant fibers looks very stiff and hard and the metal looks very soft and malleable, where as typically I think of those two materials in the opposite way.

This piece ships first class mail.

The holes are open all the way through, so cleaning this beauty is simple*
Made from a piece of granite that has flecks of black, white and a salmon tone, goes well in any style of home.
Cored holes and lightly honed surface, I make my stone pieces from cut offs of stone I use in my sculpture or in our masory business, usually no pieces are alike, and some slight imperfections are common, I occasionally correct the flaws, but sometimes I leave or enhance them, they are characteristics that add to the beauty*

Vase With Handle

This is a granite piece, core drilled with a handle carved into it. Really nice piece to hold, fits nicely in your hand with the handle snugged right in between the thumb and first finger. Body and bottom of vase have been honed and the top has an aged polish, slight shine but weathered, very nice look. (We have a serious attraction to our pieces looking very natural, not overly manufactured and the same, it's our style*)

This piece measures approx. 3" (7.62 cm)wide X 4" (10.16 cm) tall X 1/2"(1.27 cm) thick.
The handle projects from the vase from 1"-1.25" (2.54-3.2 cm), and tapers from 2-1" (5.08-2.54 cm) wide. It is almost an 1"(2.54 cm) thick.

Makes a great vase for flowers or a pencil/pen holder if you wish*
Weighs approx 1lb 9 oz.

I love walking on and around the rocks at the shore. As the water fills into various impressions in the stones, a little world begins. Underwater universes that swirl and change with the tides. One of my favorite ways to spend time is watching them, the little bits of crustacean remnants, pieces of seaweed, broken bits of shell, tiny pebbles and anything else that the sea washes in. They all come together, even if only for a brief moment and sometimes they have a chance to linger.

I created this piece by crocheting green, blue and silver copper wires into a swirling random pattern, while thinking about the mixing of the tide-pools and the beautiful colors of the sea. I made the frame work by bending, curling and filing a heavy gauged anodized aluminum, and coiled the rim with aluminum, anodized titanium and blue copper.

This unique piece is absolutely one of a kind, it measures approx. 5" ( 12.7cm) wide X 5" ( 12.7cm) deep.

Lanterns

My sculpture has always come from a part of me that loves interaction and tactile experiences. Over the years I have worked with various metals in many ways, currently crochet is where I am. The filigree quality and the way light passes through the forms is also part of the piece, another form of interaction. These Lanterns are expressing those concepts as well as representing organic forms of personality, our inner lanterns.

Each one is unique in it's form and has been crocheted using 24 gauge stainless steel and 24 gauge bare copper, signed by me. This listing is for 3 Lanterns, each one measures approx.

+ 30" ( 76.2 cm) long X 11" (28 cm) tapering to 3"(7.6 cm) wide
+ 27" (68.6 cm) long X 8" (20.3 cm) tapering to 2" (5 cm) wide
