“Early Morning Bite” is a print of my original watercolour painting of the same name. The herons were in the shallow water near my home. The sun wasn't up yet but the glow of the sunrise was showing in the east. The closet heron was quite comfortable with me and my camera while the ones farther away were watching me warily.

The image size is 6 5/8 X 8 5/8 inches and is printed with a CMYK printer on 8 1/2 X 11 inch Photo Supreme Satin Paper 72 lb. "Early Morning Bite" is signed and titled on the front. I "painted" this digital painting with soft, loose washes using a digital watercolor brush, a gradient and image hoses. I varied the size, diffusion and opacity of the brushes. I also retouched the painting on another layer using darker colours and finally erased some of the drawing I had started with.

"Summer in the Mountains” is an original watercolour painting I did from a sketch of mine.

The image size is 7 1/4 X 11 inches and painted on Waterford 140 lb. acid free artist's paper using top quality artist's watercolor pigments. I have done several paintings of this mountain in different seasons. Years ago we climbed it. There is snow all year round in some areas on Mt. Albert Edward. I love the sub-alpine area and do some hiking in the summer on nearby Forbidden Plateau.

Several years ago our four year old granddaughter became gravely ill with Haemalytic Anaemia and was air lifted by helicopter to Sick Children's Hospital in Vancouver, BC. She received blood transfusions over the next two days. Her illness lasted approximately nine months during which time she had several relapses that put her back in the hospital in Comox. “I love Flowers” is a print of my original watercolour painting of the same name. During my shift at a Federation of Canadian Artist’s show I did a detailed drawing of the potted plant on the desk. Later I painted the original image from the drawing. I used loose transparent washes for the first layer of colour. Then I gradually built up the shapes, leaving some white areas to later define into flower shapes. I painted around the flowers and some of the leaves, kind of like carving shapes out with paint. This process is very labour intensive but I love the effect. The painting reproduces very well and this print is true in colour to the original.
