She's So Patriotic - Repurposed Pillowcase Dress

Back in March of this year Lark Books released their newest book "Craft Challenge: Dozens of Ways to Repurpose a Pillowcase". Inspired by the book they asked their audience to come up with new and fun creations using an ordinary pillowcase. On June 1st I found out that my dress was one of the 3 lucky winners!!

This dress is made using 2- 30x30 IKEA pillowcases and red satin ribbon. I love the sexiness of a strapless and the simplicity of the laced up back. The red satin was the needed flare and contrast to the soft white and blue printed cotton.

Dress is about a size 10-12

Flat measurements are as follows:

15in/38cm (across the front of bust)
9in/23cm (top of bust to top of belt)
6in/15cm (each side of the back bust)
36in/91.5cm (top of bust to bottom of dress)

The top of bust is elastic as well as the waist. The back of the dress is flared a bit around the hips and comes to a point at the bottom.

This is a one of a kind piece you can't find anywhere else!

My dear friend purchased some fabric for me while visiting her hubby in Korea. I challenged my friends to come up with a wonderful creation I could make using these pieces. I must say I am rather excited to have them made and listed. Special thanks to busybeadlady.etsy.com , jadedmind.etsy.com , mvincent.etsy.com , and sosorosey.etsy.com for your much appreciated suggestions.

Here you will find two throw pillows approx 16x16 inches ea. The fabric traveled from Korea to Florida in April of 2009 and was used to create the ultimate in home decor!

Spruce up your living room or add color to a tween hangout. What ever you decide, I am sure you will fall in love with the robust color and design as I have.

The fuchsia and teal are soft and accented with gold Asian designs. Hand stuffed with premium poly fiberfill and machine stitched closed. This fabric is machine washable but I recommend using a delicate setting and tumble dry on low heat.

One of a kind creation due to the limited access to materials. Be the envy of your neighbors and enjoy the wonderful comfort of international designs.
