My Very First Gran Sculpture 6.5 inches Made to Order

For those of you who are very familiar with my Gran character in my paintings, I've now started making sculptures of her.

This one is just 6.5 inches (17 cm) high, made of polymer clay over an armature of wire and aluminum, painted with acrylics and sealed. She isn't heavy, despite her build.

Wrinkles, some varicose veins, and a bit of cellulite, are all apparent, but that's to be expected at her age, I think.

This first sculpture is not for sale, but I'm using it purely as an example. No two Grans will ever be completely the same. To make a Gran just for you, with whatever accessories you'd like - martini glass, a book, her cat and dog at her feet, simply contact me.

It's strange how Gran just turns up somewhere unexpectedly, usually looking a bit self-satisfied. She's been shopping till she drops, and obviously enjoying the wine. Question is: where did that rose come from? What have you been up to now, Gran?

Gran is a character I am unable to ignore. Originally from Australia, she pops up in all kinds of places, usually in slightly odd situations, and always surprises me. She is a part of a series of some 35 Gran paintings, and this is her latest adventure.

The painting is an original, signed by the artist, Fran Caldwell (me), and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from EBSQart, of which I am a member. The painting continues around the 1" sides so that no frame is required. (I should add that Gran thinks she really does look good in a frame.)

It is a sort of club, really. Everyone there of one mind, one passion - GET SHOES!

It can be as aggressive, competitive, every-woman-for-herself determined, even as physical as any NHL team.

But when it's over, and exhaustion sets in, cheeks flushed, hair awry, you know you won. The weak fell, the strong endured. You got the green shoes! (They were the last ones like them on the table.)

I do think that this is no place for children, all the same. They grow up too quickly, as it is.

This painting is an original acrylic on 140lb acid-free paper, with the image measuring 16 x 12 inches. You'll see in one of the images that I have left a border to help with the mounting process, but this can be easily trimmed if you prefer no mount in the frame. The painting is signed by the artist, Fran Caldwell (me), front and back, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from EBSQart, where I am a member.

I like to produce prints of my work, and, although this original painting may be sold, I retain all rights (as the artist) to reproduce the image.

Of course, it was all over before we could stop it. Gran was so busy checking the temperature of the water, and they just came from nowhere and swooped for our lunch.
