Large Brooch Renate

$4.25
This brooch is a copy of a custom order I made for someone who wanted it to match her dark brown winter coat. But of course it will match any lighter coloured spring or summer coat as well. Or just pin it on anything you like.

Where normally I give my flowers a centre in a matching colour this bright red just asked for something more dramatic. The black wooden bead from vintage leftover stock was exactly what I was looking for.

The flower itself was crocheted in cotton yarn from a reclaimed cotton sweater and measures 3.15'' or 8 cm across. I fitted it with a quite large standard safety pin for easy attachment to thicker surfaces like wool or jeans fabric.

I can reproduce the brooch in almost any colour, feel free to ask.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

I bought it for myself around 1980 but wore it only a few times. The black has faded somewhat over the years but otherwise it's in mint condition. I think it's originally from Mexico or somewhere South America. Width 2.75'' or 7 cm.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

Hot Pads Fantasy Set Of Two

$22.50
These two flower shapes are a large sized copy of my 'Coasters Fantasy'. Crocheted in thick sturdy T-shirt yarn they are perfect for use as hot pads, trivets or even a doily under a vase. Sized about 7.5'' or 19 cm across they are large enough for most pans, serving bowls or even your teapot.

I cut all my own 'T-yarn' from reclaimed garments that would otherwise have ended in the landfills. Your purchase is completely guilt-free.

Recommended treatment: Handwash hot, rinse gently. Press dry between towels and lay flat to dry. Press under a towel if necessary.

This item ships as a letter of 100-250 grams. Please convo me for combined orders as shipping will most likely combine as well.

Simple Hot Pad Flower Power

I used almost the complete shirt so this pad is thick enough to protect your table from the hottest pans.

Though just a simple round in sc worked off with a line in black this lovely violet that for me just defines the late Sixties didn't need much more. On top this item is one hunderd percent eco friendly and your purchase is equally guilt free!

The pad measures about 8.5'' or 21,5 cm across.

Handwash hot, rinse gently, lay flat to dry. If necessary press under a humid towel.

This item ships as a letter of 100-250 grams. It measures about 3'' or 7.5 cm across and comes with a high quality silver coloured brooch pin. Wear on anything you like from hat to coat or purse, but this colour is of course also very suitable for a wedding.

This yarn comes from an unraveled reclaimed garment. The bead was painted in gold by my mom ages ago for some project, but she never used it or it was leftover.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

Use as a coin purse or little pouch to carry cosmetics or other small things in your bag.

This avocado green t-shirt was a little bit unevenly faded, which now shows in the slight colour changes in the item, which I find quite attractive. It measures 3.15 x 5.5'' or 8 x 14 cm and closes with a zipper taken from a discarded garment.

The zipper is hand sewed in. This is visible on the inside, but the item is too small and rigid to work under the machine.

This item ships as a letter of 50-100 grams.

I unraveled a sixties or seventies garment for it. The neutral pale beige with an elegant decorative brim will look adorable on all little princesses.

The model I use is about 3 feet 3'' or 1 meter tall. The head meaures about 20'' or 50 cm around, but the hat will stretch easily to a bit larger than that.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

Out of fashion for adults since then I recently found out little girls fancied my leftover hats from that time a lot and so I made this one in a small size suitable for kids, but it stretches to an XS adult's head.

All I added was a couple of rows of sc and a phantasy motif in blocks around the brim and so it is an exact copy of the model 'Little Lady'.

The display doll I use is about 3 feet 3'' or 1 meter tall. The head meaures about 20'' or 50 cm around, but the hat will stretch easily to 21'' or 53 cm.

Please note that my model is slick, bald and the ears are rigid. On a real head the hat will have more grip and will pull down deeper over the ears even if the head is larger than my model.

All my work is done in reused or leftover yarns. In this case a neighbour passed on a large skein of acrylic to me she didn't need anymore. I'd never buy acrylic but as I saved it from the landfill I consider all I made from it guilt free.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

Now back in an even prettier and smaller design! Wear Spring around your neck in these shortening days.

Crocheted flower pendant hanging from a soft pink cord matching the wooden bead in its heart. It is crocheted in a the finest reclaimed nylon cord, which gives a very firm result and the flower won't loose shape or flatten. The tiny wooden bead comes from leftover 1970's stock. The cord is reused and taken from a deconstructed piece.

The flower measures only 1'' or 2,5 cm across. Total cord length (including closure) is a bit over 16'' or 41 cm.

Flower can be detachted from cord for washing. Be careful not to damage bead varnish.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

The rounds measure about 1.37'' or 3,5 cm across. The motif is inlayed on a strong dark brown base, which is the colour of the back.

As this is handwork with natural materials the colours of the separate rounds are not 100 % identical which I think only adds to their charm.

To avoid any dissapointment: There is a spot at the back of one of them that looks like wear or damage, but it was like this when I got them and in fact is no more than a natural flaw of the material; it hasn't gone worse since.

I really loved wearing these but I think it is time now to release them from the box I have locked them away in for so many years already!

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

Made of the finest vintage wool and felted for strength and the lovely fuzzy effect that gives.

Size only 1.60'' or 4 cm across. Comes with a simple tiny safety pin at the back, firmly attached. I find this extremely handy for usage on knitted surfaces as the real brooch pin's locks may pull at the stitches and damage your lovely scarf or hat.

Choose turquoise blue, yellow, orange or white. Please state your choice in your ordering comment.

**Please note this listing is for one brooch. Convo me if you'd like a combination of two or more. This will most likely not affect the shipping costs.

See also my version in the same yellow with spring green leaves:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24848367

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

TRY OUT SALE Tiny Bag Or The Office Bag

The things you want to take with you to meetings and conferences without having to drag your whole large purse with you. End of the day just put your mini bag in the purse.

This is my first try out. Not completely happy yet with the short handles that were hand sewed on, but the way it turned out I think a teenager or child would like it too.

The bag is about 8.5'' or 21,5 cm wide and 7'' or 18 cm high. Crocheted completely with fabric strips cut from reclaimed t-shirts. The zipper is equally reused and the handles and zipper stops are made from an old black pair of jeans.

If you want an inside peek of the process of making this bag and the zipper stops read my blog post about that here:

http://trashcollector.blogspot.com/2009/09/zipper-tutorial.html

This item ships as a letter of 100-250 grams.

Then the large glass pearl at the centre of the brooch just does it for me.

I crocheted the flower in a leftover of thick soft cotton. Luxurious quality yarn from my mom's eighties stock you don't find often! The bead is new.

This is a very difficult colour to photograph and in reality it is a bit 'colder' or bluer. This is what sunlight does to it, but in flashlight it turns too blue!

The brooch looks very cute on a (jeans) jacket or winter coat, but pin on anything you like! It comes with high quality silver colored brooch pin at the back and measures 3.15'' or 8 cm across.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

Extra Long Scarf 2010

$25.00
This highly fashionable accessory will match perfectly with teal or majolica, the shade of dark blue for this 2009/10 winter season. Nevertheless this neutral light steel blue will equally go with jeans or a black coat.

The knotted effect of my open net stitch is created by using a thick and soft acrylic yarn. Though made fairly narrow (ca 7.8'' or 20 cm wide) I think it answers well to this fall/winter's fashion dictation for see through but chunky scarves and wraps. The extra length (over 79'' or 2 meters) allows you to wrap the scraf loosely around you several times or knot it in any way you like.

Finished off with unique chained fringes of my own invention with black plastic beads. The yarn is reclaimed from an industrial knit and shinier and thicker than the average two or three ply you get in the craft store.

This item ships as a letter of 100-250 grams.

Multi Purpose T-yarn Bowl Saint Maarten

$20.00
Medium sized crocheted bowl perfect for smaller fruit or anything else. Present wrapped candy, use on your make-up table or keep office supplies organized on your desk.

I make all my own 't-yarn' by cutting reclaimed garments into strips. The fabric used for this item is a micro rib which gives the crochet a sturdier and more rigid texture than regular fine jerseys.

I gave it a double side for extra strength but also so you don't have to look at any back side of the crochet.

The bowl measures about 8'' or 20 cm across and is 2.5'' or 6,5 cm tall.

This item ships as a parcel of 0-500 grams.

PS: Saint Maarten is - in some northern parts of Holland - comparable to Halloween. On 11-11 kids sing songs at your door carrying lanterns to ask for candy, some of which is characteristic for the celebration and not for sale throughoput the year. Also, some of the more responsible elders hand out that typical seasonal fruit: tangerines.

Out of fashion for adults since then I recently found out little girls fancied my leftover hats from that time a lot and so I made this one in a small size suitable for kids.

Here I played with lines in a seed stitch which made the hat a bit tighter than the other models. Though it still stretches to fit my display doll, who's head meaures about 20'' or 50 cm around, I'd recommend it for a size up to 19.25'' or 49 cm.

Please note that my model is slick, bald and the ears are rigid. On a real head the hat will have more grip and will pull down deeper over the ears.

All my work is done in reused or leftover yarns. In this case a neighbour passed on a large skein of acrylic to me she didn't need anymore. I'd never buy acrylic but as I saved it from the landfill I consider all I made from it guilt free.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

It's not too wide, about 20 cm. It's 2 meters long, so you can wrap it around you twice for extra warmth. It's light weight (75 grams), airy and soft, yet lush, comfortable, and warm.

Finished off with unique chained fringes with bright yellow plastic beads. They remind me of the bells on a harlequin suit.

Made from leftovers bought at a flea market.

Due to winter light the colour came out a bit too blue in the photographs, in reality it's really turquoise.

This item ships as a letter of 100-250 grams.

Funny Hat For Boyfriend/Hubbie

My boyfriend looks awesome now."

Warm, comfortable, different. I designed this model for my boyfriend and made a couple more because there was so much of the material left. I think the colour and absence of decoration make it a typical men's hat, but that doesn't mean a girl can't wear it. However, this one is a quite large size of 23'' or 58 cm.

It's made of a combination of wool (the blue) and soft comfortable acrylic (the black). The lower side is a double layer, folded to the outside and the inside part is made of the soft black yarn.

This item ships as a letter of 100-250 grams.

$6.00
My first ever sale on Etsy was one of my flower necklaces. Now back in an even prettier and smaller design! Wear Spring around your neck in these shortening days.

Crocheted flower pendant hanging from a purple coloured cord matching the wooden bead in its heart. It is crocheted in a fine vintage leftover hardened cotton yarn, which gives a very firm result and the flower won't loose shape or flatten. The tiny wooden bead comes from leftover 1970's stock. The cord is reused and taken from a deconstructed piece.

The flower measures about 1.2'' or 3 cm across. Total cord length (including closure) is a bit over 16'' or 41 cm.

Flower can be detachted from cord for washing. Be careful not to damage bead varnish.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

Pendant is sterling silver but not stamped. Pink pearly gem, probably moonstone.

The cord is just under 16'' or about 40 cms long. Closes with a silver coloured fine screw lock. When I was a kid I found those the most easy to put on without help.

Please click on the photo's to enlarge to see all the pretty details.

This item ships as a letter of 20-50 grams.

I just love the natural look of this 2'' or 5 cm flower.

This is a new version of the original Le-Chat nr 1 and has dark olive green leaves (see my sales if you want to compare: http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=14239957 ). This green yarn is of a different kind and felted less so they stayed larger.

I fitted this brooch with a quality brooch pin which is more suiteable for pinning on (jeans) jackets with a slick surface than softer wool surfaces as the lock of the pin may pull the soft fiber. Please convo me if you would prefer a standard safety pin. It may take a few days but I can still reproduce the brooch.

This item ships as a letter of 0-20 grams.

The fantasy crochet is not suitable to protect your delicate table cloth, but the thick and soft cotton yarn is absorbant enough to avoid a mess on your garden or side table and the set makes a great decoration! Tip: if you use saucers place the coasters in them to make an original and pretty presentation when you entertain.

As for most of my products I used yarn from a reclaimed garment so your purchase is guilt-free.

Please convo me if you'd like a larger number of the small coasters.

This item ships as a letter of 50-100 grams.

Simply lay the end flat over and slide it under the loop to keep it in position.

The material is quite stretchy and fits a wrist from about 15-17 cm, or 6-6.75''.
Rag Pouch Ireland Or Bulaggi

Cut in strips from the unprinted parts I crocheted this cute pouch from it to use as a coin purse or to hold cosmetics or other small things in your bag.

This was my first attempt at a new model where I can machine sew the zipper in. Therefore I had to make a zipper stopper which came out a bit large. It's up to you to decide if you find that disturbing, but it sure is practical. I used a piece of reclaimed black jeans fabric for that which I turned inside out because the outside colour had faded a bit. The zipper itself comes from a reclaimed Bulaggi bag and carries the Bulaggi trademark logo on the puller, which also has a large hole to attach your own zipper adornment or a phone strap if you like.

The item measures about 5.6 x 4.3'' or 14,5 x 11 cm.

Handwash hot, rinse gently. Press out rinse water between towels, lay flat to dry.

This item ships as a letter of 50-100 grams.
