Felt Boots - Indoor/Outdoor

$160.00
This listing is for a custom made pair of men's or women' seamless, wet felted boots with vibram rubber soles. The ones in the picture are brownish/grey boots with dark leather trim and rubber soles. This design is purposefully made without laces and will pull off and on easily. This is a huge advantage if you are like me and detest tying shoes. Please be advised that, although we make every effort to match the boot color in the picture, there may be some slight differences. This is due to individual fleece colors and characteristics, as no two sheep or their fleeces are the same.

The soles are made using a layer of leather over the original felt bottom, with another layer of vibram rubber soling on top of that. The soles are then handstitched to the boots. Inside each boot we also include a hand sculpted, removable, orthopedic foam foot bed. We make these foot beds using a special memory foam which, over a period of days will compress and sculpt itself to the shape of your foot. All this helps to make the boots quite hardy and able to worn in a variety of weather. They are perfect for a hike in the woods, around the house on a chilly day or on the town. They handle most all weather very well, including rain, though in the case of standing water or a torrential down pour they will not replace rubber boots.

Every part of these boots is designed and hand crafted by myself and my husband. From the shoe lasts used for shaping the boots, to the soling and of course the boots themselves. We start with an organic, locally purchased sheep fleece then proceed to sort, wash and hand card it, with the aide of our drum carder, into useable batts of wool. Eventually we felt and shape it into a durable and beautiful boot. Each boot is made using four layers of wool, totaling a pound all together. This makes them extremely durable and amazingly warm. However, due to the fact that they are made of wool, a breathable material, they can be worn just as comfortably in warm weather.

All of our boots are fully customizable and can be purchased as in the photo or with additional custom options. See below for more info on custom options.

Wet felting is a traditional and ancient art-form. The process involves layering wool then agitating it by massaging with hot soapy water to make a cohesive fabric. For boots, it is then molded over a foot or shoe last. The process is very labor intensive but creates a strong and durable fabric that has been used for centuries, in everything from tents (gers) to clothes.

If you are intrested in ordering please read the information below carefully. We also offer gift certificate packages that are perfect for the holidays and allow the recipient to custom design their own boot.

************ PLEASE READ *****************

ORDERING

Payment Options
----------------
If You would like to order a pair of boots simply add to cart and pay using your preferred method of payment.
Felt Slipper Boots

$130.00
This listing is for a custom made pair of mens or womens seamless, wet felted slipper boots with leather soles. The ones in the picture are brownish/gray boots with orange/brown leather soles. This design is purposefully made without laces and will pull off and on easily. Alternatively, they can be flipped up for a more boot like look and added warmth for cold ankles. Please be advised that, although we make every effort to match the boot color in the picture, there may be some slight differences. This is due to individual fleece colors and characteristics, as no two sheep or their fleeces are the same.

The soling is made with heavy duty elk hide leather, which we cut and hand sew onto each boot. This enables them to be worn outdoors much like a moccasin, though in dry conditions only. They are perfect for a walk in the woods on a dry day, on the town, or around the house. For additional protection from the elements we can add a rubber sole (see custom options below for details). This will substantially increase the conditions they can be worn in. Inside each boot we include a hand sculpted, removable, orthopedic foam foot bed. We make these foot beds using a special orthopedic memory foam which, over a period of days will compress and sculpt itself to the shape of your foot.

Every part of these boots is designed and hand crafted by myself and my husband.
Knee High Felt Boots

$200.00
This listing is for a custom made pair of men's or women' seamless, wet felted boots with outdoor rubber soles. These boots were neither knit or crocheted but made using ancient and traditional felting techniques. The boots pictured are black and knee high in height. They lace up the back and can be tied either in front or behind. All of our boots are fully customizable and can be purchased as in the photo or with additional custom options. Please see below for more info on custom options.

Please be advised that, although we make every effort to match the boot color in the picture, there may be some slight differences. This is due to individual fleece colors and characteristics, as no two sheep or their fleeces are the same.

Every part of these boots are designed and hand crafted by myself and my husband, from the shoe lasts used to form the boots, to the soling and of course the boots themselves. We start with an organic, locally purchased sheep fleece then proceed to sort, wash and hand card it into usable batts on our drum carder. Eventually we felt and shape it into a durable and beautiful boot.

This pair is our extra tall, extra thick pair and is particularly well suited to very cold climates. They are made using four layers of wool, totaling a pound and a half all together. This makes them extremely durable and amazingly thick and warm. However, due to the fact that they are made of wool, a breathable material, they can be worn just as comfortably in warmer weather.

The soling is made using heavy duty industrial felt with a vibram rubber sole secured to the bottom. The felt can be replaced with leather if preferred and is only shown here as an example of the many possibilities. Inside each boot we include a hand sculpted, removable, orthopedic foam foot bed. We hand make these foot beds using thick orthopedic foam, which, over a period of days will compress and sculpt itself to the shape of your foot.

Wet felting is a traditional and ancient art-form. The process involves layering wool then agitating it by massaging with hot soapy water to make a cohesive fabric. For boots, it is then molded over a foot or shoe last. It makes a wonderful gift for an expecting woman or a midwife. She stands 12" tall. The yarn used for her skirt embellishment is handspun merino.

She is inspired by my recent journey through the joys of pregnancy...

**Please note that this listing is for a custom made version of the doll shown in picture. The actual doll may differ slightly. Please allow up to two weeks for the creation of each piece. That means if I am back ordered it could be longer than two weeks.
Felted Elf Hat - Perfect For Cold Weather

The hat is made from 100% Navajo Churro wool. It is thick, warm, durable and is a perfect hat for fall or winter. It stays on your head well and will not blow off easily.

This hat was expertly felted and fulled in our studios by my husband Moss. The design is based on our collaborative visions. We work together to create magical and inspired wearable and figurative art using the medium of wool.

Wet felting is a traditional and ancient art-form. The process involves layering wool then agitating it by massaging with hot soapy water to make a cohesive fabric. For hats, it is then molded over a special hat block specially made by myself and my husband Moss. The process is very labor intensive but creates a strong and durable fabric that has been used for centuries, in everything from tents (gers), hats, rugs to clothes.

Like all our work, this piece was inspired by the natural and supernatural realms...

****** Please Note ******

This listing is for a CUSTOM made version of the hat shown in picture. Due to varying fleece characteristics and as well to the handmade process, the actual hat may differ SLIGHTLY. Please allow one to two week for creation of piece. Depending on how back ordered we are, the wait may be longer. If you need your hat by a specific date, please be sure let us know.

-------------------- ORDERING ---------------------------

If you would like to order a custom made hat, simply add to cart and check out. At that time please also send us a measurement of the circumference of your head.

Thank you..
Felt Boots - Indoor/Outdoor

$175.00
This listing is for a custom made pair of seamless, wet felted boots with dark brown leather trim.

The boots are entirely hand crafted by myself and my husband, using organic, locally purchased sheep's wool. We start with a raw sheep fleece then skirt it, wash it, hand card it on our drum carder then eventually felt and shape it into a durable and beautiful boot. Each boot is made using four layers of wool, totaling a pound all together. This makes them extremely durable and amazingly warm. However, due to the fact that they are made of wool, a breathable material, they can be worn just as comfortably in warm weather.

The boots come with heavy duty soling hand made by myself and my husband using vibram rubber and leather. The soles allow the boots to be worn outdoors in all types of weather, but with the feel of a moccasin. Inside the boot is orthopedic foam insert which will sculpt itself to your foot over time, offering arch support for weary feet.

************ PLEASE READ *****************

ORDERING

Payment Options
----------------
If You would like to order a pair of boots simply add to cart and pay using your preferred method of payment.
OOAK Art Doll - Needle Felted Banshee Puppet

$5,000.00
I am pleased to announce the newest piece to come from Enchanted Gypsy studios. This banshee fae is life size and stands nearly four and a half feet tall.

Banshee simply means "woman of the síde" or "woman of the fairy mounds" and is a female spirit in Irish mythology. Usually seen as a messenger from the Otherworld. There are several types of banshees. Some banshees are known to wail when a loved one has died or is about to die. Our banshee here howver, is not that kind. She is simply an enchanting wise one from the realm of fae.

This is a work in progress. I began her nearly four months ago and continue to work on her firming up her legs, hands and basic form and perhaps will be adding a few details here and there as I go. It is a very laborious, slow but infinitely satisfying process to let this ancient one come through me.

She is entirely needle felted from many, many pounds of wool, over a foam, rope and wire core. Her hands contain wire, allowing her fingers to be posed to a degree. Her dress is made using an entire, freshly shorn Romney sheep fleece. After shearing I simply flipped the entire thing over and wet felted the back, preserving the lock structure on the front of the fleece. Her cloak is made from wet alpaca fleece. Her hair is locks from a karakul sheep.

In her hand she holds a staff which will one day contain a large crystal with the base partially wrapped in leather. On the back of her head is a rod that allows for excellent movement of her body and head. Her arms will soon have rods as well. At this time she is a sitting puppet, but my intentions are to try and make her able to walk, with the aide of the puppeteers feet.

Alternatively she would make a wonderful show piece in your living room, though she will need her own chair.

As I said this is a work in progress and will likely take many more months to complete. Any major changes however I will be sure to update with new pictures. Feel free to check in from time to time and see how she is developing.

In all honesty, I do not really want to sell her, that is why the price is so high. However, I figured if I ever did sell her, that would be the price that would somewhat compensate me for all the work, love and energy put in to her. She is one of a kind and will not or could not be recereated.

The inspiration for this piece, like all my work, comes from the natural and supernatural worlds.....

Many blessings ~ Pixie

Felt Boots - Indoor/Outdoor

$160.00
This listing is for a custom made pair of seamless, wet felted boots with green leather trim. Please be advised that, although we make every effort to match the boot color in the picture, there may be some slight differences. This is due to individual fleece colors and characteristics, as no two sheep or their fleeces are the same.

The boots are entirely hand crafted by myself and my husband, using organic, locally purchased sheeps wool. We start with a raw sheep fleece then skirt it, wash it, hand card it on our drum carder then eventually felt and sahpe it into a dureable and beautiful boot. Each boot is made using four layers of wool, totaling a pound all together. This makes them extremely durable and amazingly warm. However, due to the fact that they are made of wool, a breathable material, they can be worn just as comfortably in warm weather.

These boots are purposefully made without laces and pull off and on easily. This is a huge advantage if you are like me and detest tying shoes.

************ PLEASE READ *****************

ORDERING

Payment Options
----------------
If You would like to order a pair of boots simply add to cart and pay using your preferred method of payment. We require at least a 50% non refundable deposit, with the remainder due when the boots are completed. If you would rather pay in full that is fine to. To order simply add them to your cart and either pay in full or send an email indicating your interest in the payment plan. We will then send you an invoice for half the amount of the purchase. Make sure to send a convo or write in the "message to seller" area what your shoe size is and weather it is a men's or women's.

Please keep in mind that hand crafted boots such as these take time to make and we are often back ordered. I will send you an email indicating the estimated time of shipment.

SHIPPING

We ship first class US mail, in order to keep the price down. If you would like your item shipped in a different manner, please let me know. We can ship internationally to any country, though additional shipping charges will apply.

GAURUNTEE

Sizing feet unseen can be tricky. We want you to be comfortable and happy in your boots so if they do not fit, you can send them back to us and we will make another pair in a size that fits. We have yet to encounter this, but it could happen and if it does, we will take care of it.

MATERIALS

Leather ~ We have many colors to chose from. Please inquire.
If you are vegan and prefer to not have leather, we can use heavy duty felt in place it.

Rubber ~ We can also do natural tree rubber in place of petro rubber.

WAIT TIMES ~ Custom made boots take time to make and we are often back ordered quite a bit. Please allow from one to two months for creation of item.
With all my hand dyed rovings I strive to create colors that are deep, rich and saturated. The colors in this one are shades of greens, yellows and splashes of blue green.

Spinning kettle dyed yarn is always exciting as it produces a variegated effect that is fun to watch play out while spinning, as well as in the final project.

The roving is made from 4.6 oz of 100% Corriedale wool, enough to spin a good sized skein. Corriedale is a long stapled fiber, favored by spinners for it's softness and ease of spinning. It is an excellent choice for next to the skin wear and also for felting projects.

Dyed with love in a smoke free home...
It contains a generous amount of silk, Shetland, Alpaca and Firestar Sparkel fiber, in shades of wine, purple, pinks and white. This is a more blended batt. All wool was skirted, washed and dyed by myself. I did my best but there is a small bit of VM in it.

This batt is intended for hand spinners but would make a fine felting batt as well.
