This unique necklace features a wirewrapped rose, a symbol that is consistant in every version of the fairytale that I have read or seen rendered on film. The rose itself is a base metal finding and the stem and leaves are copper, the chain is bronze and it ends in a hand made hook and eye clasp. The larger leaves are all of copper.

This 21 inch neclace includes garnet disks, purple glass orbs and copper rosary-like chain. The whole thing is rather thin, but it's delicate look says nothing for its overall strenght. The pendant alone is just shy of an inch from the lenght already mentioned.

I remember watching the movie Little Orphan Annie and thinking about the promise in the best song...the sun will come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow...and these earrings were born.

This flower ring, unlike my other one made all of wire, has leaves as the band and a purple czech glass flower as the stone. This whimsically, playful necklace reminds me of the little girl who used to insist on wearing flowers in her hair despite the odd stares she illicited.

T E C H N I Q U E:
The purple, lucite flowers with white marbleing detail were wrapped in loops of brass and attached to sea green (you could also call them teal) glass pears that shine wonderfully in the light. A small amount of handmade Figaro chain and swirls were added to the end and finished with a handmade hook and eye chain.

This twenty-two inch lovely was well worth the two 1/2 hour spent scrolling and hammering the bronze and wrapping the copper into a chain. Its name is from its simplicity and bright colors. It just says Susanna to me and would be perfect for summer dinner parties.

It boasts green and yellow crackle glass rounds as well as green tubes that have a luster of their own. The brass is hammered flat and its strand hangs down another six inches from the aforementioned twenty-two. The clasp is brass.

This necklace recived its name from the agate chunk with its many colored layers, the red stone disks as well as the color of the carnelian that reminds me of lava. Imagine the lava (carnelian) melting down the stone and creating the final rock (agate). At least that was what happened in my head :)

I N S P I R A T I O N:
This was inspired by the color of new brass wire and my association of it with the Sun. The Sun in old art, at least in my mind, is more guilded than yellow and I wanted to capture the swirling of the rays and the heat it generates.

T E C H N I Q U E:
I took lengths of brass wire, made swirly spirals of them and hammered them nearly flat with a little texture left in for visual interest. I then linked my fashioned sun rays together with handmade links of brass and wrapped them in wire to form fat, sort of barbed, beads. The bracelet is finished with a handmade hook and eye clasp.

Gabriel's trumpet necklace

The idea behind this piece, a snow white dove carrying a trumpet, came from my Christian background although the techniques that made it happen are all mine. It embodies the idea that in the end, the horn will be blown by the angel Gabriel and we will all be called to judgement. This dove, the Holy Spirit acting as a humble messenger, is taking the trumpet to Gabriel.

The necklace was formed by wirewrapping copper into the desired shapes of dove and trumpet and then re-wrapping them to achieve the diagnal, almost frayed look. The chain was handmade one link at a time and so were the copper jump rings. It is off finished with a handmade, bronze hook and eye clasp.

Holy twisted metal, Batman! I love this necklace as molding its pieces made me feel as if I were knitting (a skill I have never truly mastered). This is a 20 inch necklace made up of plastic orange beads and yellow quartz chips. The flowers are lucite. It is one of my favorites as the wire was tightly twisted and coiled into the shape that it is now.

Harry's got the snitch necklace

My version of the snitch, from the Harry Potter books, is a bit open so that you can see inside the heart of the story. Its frame is bronze that I formed into circles, tied together with copper and then wrapped in copper. The structure was then strung with pieces of copper to create a webbed look. I know that the real snitch is solid, but I wanted this ball to look more like a spider web with so many twists and turns in the threads that you had trouble following any one. The chain is a mix of handmade Figaro chain and swirls in bronze.

This was inspired by the fact that though I ignored the books when they first came out, I fell in love with them when I bought them for someone else and randomly picked one up. This is supposed to be the snitch that Harry almost swallowed in the first book when Quirrell was atempting to get him off his broom and Snape was attempting to stop him. It is the same snitch that Dumbledore left to Harry in his will that contained the stone that would save his life. Yes, I love these books and I picked this symbol for them because Quiddich was the first thing that made Harry feel as if he were part of the wizarding world.

Continuing with my sun related pieces, these earrings are reminiscent of the spirals that appear in painting of the plasma ball. They are made by twisting seed beads onto goldtone wire and wrapping them around a glass orb. The colors of seed bead are red, orange and yellow. The simple earwires are bronze and were made by me.

This is a simple necklace that recalls the simple idea that a heart is a locked box that must be opened by the right key at the right time or remain forever locked. This key to your heart can be given away or worn by you as a reminder that someone has the right to your heart shaped box. It was made by bending bronze into the shape of a key, wrapping it in copper and then attaching it to a handmade chain of bronze.

I named this necklace after one of my favorite great aunts because it looks just like something that could be found in her full jewlery box, the perfect thing for me to dress up with and pretend to be a diva or hollywood starlet.

After all the organic shapes I created with my cuffs, this one was about straight lines and plain beauty. It reminds me of the small bangles I used to buy from the mall and wear with my jeans after I got out of my school uniform as it fits the same way. Brass wire was braided and wrapped around sand colored orbs of autumn jasper and tiny, black round of carnelian. The whole was then closed with scrolls and bent into the shape of camel humps. They were then topped with handmade brass earwires.

Barbed wire cuff

This cuff was an art project that started after making two bracelets based on the water I saw while floating on the Atlantic Ocean and one very plain bracelet whose point was keeping the lines straight and narrow. As you can see, this one was meant to be curvy and a bit organic, but still look modern. The caged effect that it has comes from the bronze wire that has been hammered flat and then enhanced by the copper that wraps around it.

It has an added handmade (bronze) hook and eye clasp in the back simply because I got a little ambitious when I was widening it and it became too small to even fit my rather small wrist. Without the clasp, it's about six 1/2 inches so I can take it off for people that desire a smaller bangle.

I n s p i r a t i o n:
It was all inspired by a large polymer clay ball that I made as a display for bracelets in pictures. I liked the look of the ball so much that I thought I'd replicate it in beads.

T e c h n i q u e:
It started with white tissue paper that I painted on one side and glued to large polymer clay beads, 10mm, with the unpainted side showing. I covered them with glaze once the glue dried and wirewrapped them with brass and added light wood beads and swirls as surrounding decoration. It also has Figaro chain and ends in a handmade hook and eye clasp.

This braided bracelet is a peek at nature so early in the morning that the sun is barely up.

I n s p i r a t i o n:
Really early in the morning, when I look out the window beside my bed, the tree branches on that side of the house seems to be reaching for the sky with knotted fingers and perspiration seems to hang on its leaves from the effort. I know it's not perspiration, but that's what dew drops look like to me while bathing in the bright sunlight.

T e c h n i q u e:
Three lengths of 22 gauge Bronze wire, meant to symbolize the branches, was braided tightly by hand and as I went on I added a sparkling blue glass bead every inch or so. The bracelet ends in swirls that remind me of the sun on a hazy day.

This is another Adinkra (West Afican) symbol made of bronze. The metal was twisted, hammered and tied into this symbol that reminds us to remember the past. The bracelet is bronze that has been hammered flat and the seed beads were wrapped on with pure copper wire.

It was originally made for my boyfriend's brother's girlfriend as I was doing a custom set for her. Since it speaks of learning from the past instead of dwelling on it and being forced to repeat its mistakes I thought it would be appropriate as horrible things have happened to her since the last time she has owned a real smashing piece of jewelry. I thought it would suit the strength in her as we cannot allow our pasts to destroy us. She wound up choosing another piece so I offer this to the strength in you.

The Adinkra symbols themselves bring together African proverbs and the philosophy of the Akan people in Ghana and parts of the Ivory Coast. All Adinkra symbols are very important to me because they are part of the search for roots that my family has undergone for quite sometimes. Through it, and them, we have found that we are certainly proud Americans, but we wish to honor every bit of the legacy that we have inherited from our diverse parentage.

This lovely choker was achieved through an experimental yet almost instinctive mixture of hemp, acrylic paint, glaze and brass.

The hay colored hemp is spun on small polymer clay beads, glued into place, painted a deep shade of purple with bits of pink peeking out, and then glazed to keep the color in. The beads were then wrapped with bronze and added to a handmade Figaro chain of the same metal that ends in a handmade hook and eye clasp. This necklace/choker is one that can look elegant and artsy at the same time. What good is adornment if it can't send multiple messages flawlessly?

This beautiful glass and peridot set was inspired by all the rain we've been having and the fact that I'm wishing for the lovely, warm days of spring. Lucinda's night out opera length necklace

This is another piece named for a family member of mine, but this one was a cat given to us by my cousin Richard after she had grown too old and fat to give mice much of a run for their money. She was an odd one because her favorite thing to do was streach out on the couch with me, then a toddler, and eat potato chips while watching cartoons.

This necklace was chosen as her namesake mainly beacause of the bright colors in the beads when you move them around as they match the personality that I've never seen in any other of our pets. Rememer Shirley Temple curls? I knew what those were, and wore them in my hair, before I knew that they were named for a person or who she was. This bracelet was inspired by those curls, but its look is more modern as these swirls were hammered in hard bronze and copper rather than softly brushed hair. The band is of bronze and the simple curls are of twisted copper. The bracelet can be worn with either the simpler side showing or the more free form swirls on the other side as shown in the picture.

This edgy necklace is a combination of chainmaille (chain mail) technique and wirewrapping.

The diamond shaped pendant is done with a Japanese 12-2 chainmaille variation that ends in grayish blue wire wrapped briolettes that have an ice like finish. It hangs from a chain that combines Figaro chain with jump rings and closes with a simple oval over the pendant. The entire piece was oxidized by me to give a black patina to the unique whole.

This elegant 17 inch necklace is made of carnelian rounds, pink lampwork beads and handmade brass Figaro chain. The carnelial is doubled on each wrapped link and the two diferently shaped (one round and the other oblong) form a frame around two more carnelian rounds. This cuff was inspired by a rough day at sea on the Carnival Imagination where Hurricane Fay was making the wind so bad that we couldn't even walk on the upper deck without losing a few pieces of headgear and perhaps a sandle. It was the worse we saw of the hurricane, but it was my first time at sea and the few times I looked at the water I calmed myself by thinking of working with my wire.

It fits a bit big, like a bangle, but it can easily be pushed into a tighter possition.

This necklace is not glass at all, its garnet, but it was inspired by a long haul of the show Bargain Hunt (a British auction show on BBC America) and they seem obsesses with the decorative glass. This is my version of the very pretty pinkish material. It includes tiny garnet disks (3 by 5mm), a jasper round and a faceted glass bicone on the end of the pendant. Though it is a thin necklace, it is strong and you don't have to be brash to make a bold statement :)

These lovely, 2 inch, copper earrings are dedicated to the weeping willow tree in my backyard. The beads are glass and the wire was lovingly twisted into the shape its in now and finished with a pair of copper leverbacks so that they'd never fall out, even in a storm, because of a misplaced post.

The first step in this unique necklace was balling the ends of small lengths of brass with a torch, then wrapping the 10mm, purple pearls with loops. The two were then joined by bending the lengths into circles, making loops of their balled ends and wrapping those closed. The effort has wrought a very special necklace that will look like no other.

When I lived in an apartment with my mother, siblings and second husband, there was a tree that grew outside my window and obscured any scenery beyound it. Even my first glimpse of the sun in the morning had to be filtered through its leaves. The look of those leaves with the sunlight shinning through made me start referring to them as my night lights as I saw the moon the same way. They became limelights with time and remained in my memory, through my own poetry, in that way.

This special necklace immitates my memory of the limelights in bright blue green glass pearls and lime crackle glass czech beads. The metals that form the tree itself are copper and gold colored craft wire and the chain is composed of bronze.

This 20 in necklace was inspired by the colors of my skin as well as those of members in my family. The name for it is actually my nickname when I was younger and my mother even made up a song about it that I won't go into :)

The wirewrapped beads are of glass and have many shades of brown in them with a bit of white. There is also a little carnelian and small glass orbs with dots of amber inside them. The middle of the piece has two large glass rounds surrounding a large agate one the color of caramel and the whole thing hangs from a brass hook and eye clasp. It would look divine with any outfit.

These earrings prove that good things come in small packages because they are two inches long and one inch wide and yet they pack a punch that cannon be missed.

They were created from twisted bronze wire, cinnimon coloured goldstone chips (a glass version of the gem goldstone) and one red stone chip to hold together the center. The handformed earwires are brass.

This is another piece named for a family member of mine, but this one was a cat given to us by my cousin Richard after she had grown too old and fat to give mice much of a run for their money. She was an odd one because her favorite thing to do was streach out on the couch with me, then a toddler, and eat potato chips while watching cartoons.

This necklace was chosen as her namesake mainly beacause of the bright colors in the varigated shades of blue beads to match the personality that I've never seen in any other of our pets. The beads, in saturated shades of blue and mostly oval in shape are accompanied by tubes created from all brass wire. It was all wirewrapped into one unique whole that I believe would have complimented Lucinda's free spirit if not her golden coat and gray eyes that sometimes flashed blue. These are beads that I made by wrapping and gluing hemp around smallish polymer clay beads and making them huge with just one layer. I then painted them with a mixture of acrylic and water, let it dry and coated them with the same sealer that I use on my polymer beads (diamond glaze). I put the beads on a plain Figaro chain because I think they're shown off beautifully alone. The color reminds me of clouds, but the texture is something else. The beads make this a very unique piece.

This piece is mixed media at its best, or at least my best.

The flower is hemp painted orange, the stem is hemp that has been painted dark green and wrapped around heavy brass wire. The leaves are brass and the whole thing enwraps your wrist comfortably and closes with a hook that connects where brass meets hemp on the flower. This is a piece that will certainly get noticed.

This lovely necklace is definately not for the faint of heart. In muted earth tones, it makes its statement by being large, bold and more necklace than some can handle.

There are orangy brown beads of hemp that look saphisticated twisted with brass and accompanied by honey colored glass ovals. It can be worn as a single strand or doubled for a more ethnic look. There is a small hook and eye clasp in the back.
