This pair of "baskets" are wheel thrown bowls with added handles. The light green color was added while the pieces were still wet and white designs were slip-trailed on the edges. The pieces were coated with clear glaze after the first firing, then high fired. The warm toasty color of the clay shows beautifully on the insides of the bowls.
Ideal for putting out candy, nuts or other small snacks, they would also be nice to hold potpourri on a bathroom shelf.

The bowls are durable and can be cleaned in a dishwasher, but hand washing is recommended. All glazes are lead free and food safe.

Wheel thrown from dark stoneware, this bowl had finger impressions added to the sides while it was still on the wheel. The piece was glazed with a Tuscan gold that shows the speckles from the clay. The rim was dipped in a dark turquoise for added contrast.
It's a great size for a family-sized serving of veggies or potatoes, or can be a salad bowl or will hold fruit on the table.
All of my functional pieces are food safe, can be used in the oven and dishwasher. This one is also microwave safe. (Only those with metallic glaze won't go into the microwave)

I have an electric toothbrush and needed a nice place to store it, along with the brush heads, on my bathroom counter. This set is exactly what was called for. The caddy has holes for 4 brushes and the center is the right size to hold the handle. The saucer will catch any drips from the brushes.
Both pieces are wheel thrown in red stoneware clay and glazed in temmoku and robin's egg blue. There are a couple of small spots on the saucer where the glaze "crawled", but this will not affect it's usefulness.
Both pieces can be cleaned in the dishwasher.

This wide shallow bowl is a good size for salads, pasta or for displaying fruit. Wheel thrown from a light stoneware clay, the glazes are tones of cream, slate gray and blue with slashes of deep reddish brown. There is a small yellowish glaze dribble on the inside which does not affect it's usefulness.

Round mugs are so ordinary. This one is not such a mug. It's slightly squared, but is wonderful to drink from!
The handle is comfortable to hold, the mug holds 10 ounces of your favorite beverage and will keep it either hot or cold.
The glazes are temmoku, which is a deep dark brown and a dark blue inside. Both glazes are lead free and food safe.
You can clean your mug in the dishwasher. Occasional heating in a microwave is ok, but I would not recommend this as a regular thing.

This whimsical birdhouse is a wheel thrown vessel that was decorated with colored clay.
It's decorations are all permanently colored, and will not fade out in the weather.
A similar design has been bird tested and found very livable.
It can be mounted on a tree, or on a building under eaves. There are drain holes in the bottom, and places to insert a twig or dowel (I can include a twig if you wish) for the perch.
This piece had an unfortunate accident. He has one fractured scale near the rear and 2 fractured dorsal fins. We found a wonderful surgeon who repaired both. However, due to this deficiency, his price has been reduced.

This is a serving bowl, just the right size for fresh fruit, serving side dishes or for a salad for two!

It was wheel thrown from light stoneware clay. While still on the wheel, the sides were gently altered with my thumb, from the inside.
It was glazed in a very dark brown glaze, with a reddish glaze painted at each thumb mark, which gives an "oil-spot" effect.

The glazes are both food safe; the piece can be used in the oven, if started in a cold oven and heated gently, and it can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
**The red seen in the 4th photo is a reflection, and not part of the piece.**

This mug was wheel thrown using a light stoneware clay then while it was leather hard, a handle was added and it was painted with layers of green and black colored slip and leaves were carved on the sides.
After the first firing, it was coated in a clear glaze and refired. The inside shows the cream color of the clay.
The glazes are food safe and it can be cleaned in the dishwasher. It is not recommended for microwave use.

The outside is a very dark brown, called temmoku, and the inside is robin's egg blue. There is a nice speckle effect where the two glazes overlapped.

High fired for durability, the tumbler can be cleaned in the dishwasher. It is oven and microwave safe, with care. Use hand protection when removing from the MW and if using in the oven, start in a cold oven and heat slowly, never above 350°F.
