this skein is about my gand daughter lucy. she is 4. she is fragile and gentle. she is strong and ferocious. she is innocent and knowing. this is a skein with complexity. it is handspun with shetland, merino and mohair wool as well as bamboo, soysilk, ramie, snippets of commercial novelty yarn and a sprinkle of firestar glitter. this is enough to knit up into a scarflette or some fingerless gloves or a child's hat (with some left over...)

when i make a skein of yarn, i usually have a "theme" in mind - an inspiration from something i have seen. but sometimes it's the colour itself that dictates the direction the skein will take. yesterday it was these colours that i had dyed the day before. and they reminded me, when i finished the skein, of the enchanted forests of fairy tales.
this skein is handspun with hand dyed shetland and merino wool, a few clumps of newfoundland heritage wool, some snippets of commercial novelty yarn and a generous amount of sparkly green angelina fibre.
this is enough yarn to knit up into a scarflette or a pair of fingerless gloves.

today is the first day of winter. to celebrate the season i spun up this skein of yarn - a light sprinkling of snow with green grass and moss still peaking through. it is handspun with organic merino, soft natural alpaca with a little angelina sparkle from loop.etsy, soysilk, some hand dyed mohair clumps and snippets of commercial novelty yarn. this skein could be knit up into a scarflette or some fingerless gloves.
