The wooden egg was lathe turned out of a piece of maple wood in Austin, TX, then sent to raisinlike (residing in Israel), who hand painted it, and sent it back to the Lone Star State, where it was made into a mini kaleidoscope. This egg has logged about 14,000 miles of travel so far.

The Hebrew lettering "מים רבים לא יכבו את האהבה" is from the Song of Songs chapter 8 verse 7: "Deep waters cannot quench love".

It is the size of a large egg, about 2 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. The kaleidoscope is totally functional, containing gold plated brass and front surface 60 degree equilateral mirrors with glass and acrylic pieces inside.

This one is made of Dymondwood, which is made from 1/16 hardwood veneers that are vacuum impregnated with dye and resin. The veneers are layered and compressed under high pressure and heated to slightly over half the original thickness.

It is 8 and 1/2 inches long, with 4 1/2 inches of usable sloped shaft for winding, between top and bottom grooves, and is 1 and 1/4 of an inch in diameter at the widest point. Comes with directions for use, in case you have not used one yet. Great gift for knitters.
