Sarah Palin T Shirt Community Organizers Suck HER OPINION NOT MINE

$25.00
This 100% soft cotton tee shirt was inspired by the Republican National Convention, and by the new Vice-Presidential Candidate's "expose" of Barack Obama's past as a "Community Organizer."

The cat is out of the bag.

What does Sarah Palin know, anyway? Some of my best friends are community organizers.

The shirt is an XL, fitted, pale peachy pink shirt with large contrasting stitches on the cute and sexy sleeves as well as on the bottom band of the shirt.

The shirt has been hand drawn with fabric markers in a rainbow of colors. The shirt says:

Sarah Palin Speaks Truth to Power And Says "Community Organizers Suck."

It is 100% ringspun cotton women's size XL but please check the measurements because it is snug fit. Shoulders are 17 inches across the front of shirt, 19 inches across the bust, and it tapers in at the waist. It is 23 inches long. Is between an American Apparel size large and XL (in the women's more fitted shirts).

This t-shirt is from a new line I found that is soft, girly, and well-made, and has big contrasting stitches both at the bottom hem and around the short sleeves in a rich burgundy color. This shirt is impossible not to touch as I sit here and write up my description. It has a nice, creamy feel. It is perfect for layering: not too thin, not too beefy.

Main Street Debt Challenge T-Shirt Union Organizers in History

$28.00
This t-shirt was made for the Craftivism Team's Main Street Debt Challenge. I found this historical photograph of women (and some men) who are carrying pro-union placards in what appears to be turn of the century America. I think of my great grandparents and grandparents and aunts who came to the U.S. around 1910, and lived on New York's famous Lower East Side, where many, many immigrants have started off their lives in America. One family story goes like this: Nine people lived in a small one bedroom apartment and everyone except one great aunt (Aunt Esther) was out of work because their factories were all on strike. All of these family members, who were cramped into one small apartment were striking for the rights of garment workers to take a day off on the "weekend," to work 8 or 9 hour days, to make a decent wage, and to work in safe conditions (the Triangle Shirt Waist Factory Fire was sadly known for killing young immigrant women because the exit doors were locked; the bosses didn't want anyone escaping from the factory during the workday). And oh yes: Aunt Esther somehow became a librarian and was therefore NOT employed in a clothing factory, and was therefore NOT on strike. Her role as sole wage earner during this time enabled the family to pay rent and to eat. This was always talked about as an exciting time. In addition to working and sewing in factories and organizing unions, these relatives of mine went to night school to learn to speak English. I miss hearing their accented English, which as kids we enjoyed lovingly making fun of. Soon enough everyone married, had children, sent them off to college, and moved to a variety of places around the U.S. I am proud of my immigrant roots! (Why do so many Americans forget that their families, too, were immigrants, at one point in history).

I never understand why so many Americans seem to not like unions. I am a social worker who along with others tried to start a union in my first job out of graduate school. When the time for us to vote came, the majority of the employees voted "no," so the unionizing effort was defeated. I worked small part time jobs in the evening, as well, to make ends meet, and needed my parents to help out if I needed to purchase something as outrageous as a winter coat.

Thank goodness that my husband, who is a teacher, belongs to a union. Because of him and his job we have a home, health care insurance, two cars, etc.

This shirt has been embellished with a photo transfer that has been colored in with black fabric marker; vintage lace; and scraps of cotton quilting fabrics. The neckline and bottom hem have been sliced off for an updated, hipster look. Vintage lace has been sewn to the neck and very, very gently gathered.

This shirt is an American Apparel unisex size small. The color is an a slightly brown-in-tone olive green.

The quilting fabrics are a combo of a black and white swirly print, and a great polka dot in a variety of shades of green. The vintage lace surrounding the photo is black and white, and the crocheted lace at the neck is off-white.
I love this company. On the hang tag, underneath the washing instructions it says in all caps, "UNITE!"

What could be better: unity while doing the laundry?

Two dollars from the purchase of this tee will be donated to two amazing organizations.
One dollar will go to Vets For Vets, a group that does impressive work with returning veterans, and one dollar will go to the American Friends Service Committee, a group that does great work with war refugees.

This 100% cotton fitted women's XL fashion t shirt has cute cropped short sleeves and a couple of great anti-war & pro-humanity messages. It has also been hand painted and silk screened, and is daintily covered with stenciled white snowflake like shapes.

Silk screened in purple in a funky typewriter style font is:

Ibrahim's 12 year old son is gone. So
is his 6 year old daughter. They died, along
with his wife, in the war. Ibrahim goes on, but his
pain is unimaginable.
This is the cost of war.

Stenciled across the front of the top in chunky outlined red letters is:

PEACE SAVES LIVES

The top has been gently sprayed with white fabric paint and it looks like it is covered with a haze of faint and not-so-faint snowflakes.

It measures 17 inches across the bust, 18 inches across the shoulders, tapers at the waist, and is 23 inches long. Great style and great fit.

All Unionmaide tops are returnable if the size and style doesn't work out for you.

Sarah Palin Eats Mooseburgers Handpainted Field Bag of Many Colors

$55.00
This feisty wine colored canvas field bag has been covered front and back with Sarah Palin thoughts and commentary.

It is 100% heavy duty cotton canvas (yet nicely pliable and soft), enzyme washed, has a long adjustable webbing shoulder strap, has antique brass hardware, an inside hanging zippered pocket, and is 11" wide, 14" tall, and 3 1/2 deep (storage space; the bag actually hangs a bit over 16 inches when the flap is flipped over the front and buckled).

I have decorated with fabric markers and fabric paints, many sparkly and metallic, using about a million different colors (some of them are dimensional, as well). I have also sewn on appliqued fabric shapes that have been covered with doodles, words, and all sorts of squiggly bits and bobs of colors. Here's what this bag of many colors has to say about the world:

On the front is: SARAH PALIN EATS MOOSE BURGERS
She's not a vegetarian?
I heard that she doesn't like pork.
Well, she may not be a vegetarian but she's against government cor-
ruption
On the back of the bag it says:
MOOSE PREFER VEGANS
LICHEN! Try it. You might lichen it.
I hear that she's a strong advocate of women's rights, yes?
As long as the women aren't librarians, community organizers or animal
rights...." (bag commentary was cut off mid-sentence, since 11 inches of canvas only holds so many words).
This bag was a blast to decorate...........help, I can't stop!

Across the front is a powerful, important anti-war message. It reads:

BENNIE IS GONE

HE WAS 25.

THIS IS THE COST OF WAR.

This brown, 100% cotton top is a size 2XL (unisex or mens 2XL) (see measurements below). It is part of my Memorial Tee collection, t-shirts that help keep alive the memories of those who have died in the war in Iraq, both American soldiers and Iraqi civilians. Take a look at my SoapBox Tees, t-shirts that like to speak their minds. These tops allow you to be stylish and hip, while at the same time making important, humanitarian statements, without saying a word! Couture activisim: the activisim of the 21st century.

The top has been embellished with scraps of hand-dyed fabrics (includings some from Lisabeedesigns here on Etsy) and decorative threads. A collage of rust, brown, yellow and green fabrics and threads has been sewn across the neckline. Stitching around the neckline in brown and gold threads makes the neck ruffly, and as does copious stitching around the shoulder seams in rich, contrasting colors.

A two inch square patch of hand dyed cotton in rich shads of reds, rust, and orange (with a touch of green and yellow thrown in for good measure) has been sewn onto the bottom front of the shirt with a couple of rows of decorative machine stitching.

While loose and roomy, the shirt has a polished (in an arty, funky way), stylish look that will take an ordinary pair of jeans or slacks up a notch or two or three. Look at my listing for "T Shirt Fashion 101" to see how these tops look worn with a skirt, and even further spiffed up with an added sweater or jacket.

Measurements:
Shoulders--21 inches across
Bust--27 1/2 inches from armpit to armpit
Length--almost 29 inches from very top of neckline to bottom of hem.

Two dollars from the purchase of this tee will be donated to two amazing organizations.
One dollar will go to Vets For Vets, a group that does impressive work with returning veterans, and one dollar will go to the American Friends Service Committee, a group that does great work with war refugees.

Shabby Look AntiWar T Shirt Ibrahims 12 Year Old Son Is Gone Donation Included

$22.00
This Memorial Tee shirt helps keep alive the memory of those who have died in the Iraq war, be they American GI's or Iraqi civilians.

It says:

Ibrahim's 12 year old son is gone.
So is his 6 year old daughter.
They died, along with his wife, in the war.
Ibrahim goes on, but his pain is unimaginable.
This is the cost of war.

It is silk screened in purply/pink/lavendar water based ink on a black tee. The shirt is a beefy 100% cotton. It is a unisex size medium. This shirt is loose fitting and boxy. See measurements below.

The combination of the font and the way in which the shirt was printed gives the writing a shabby, aged, washed look. (The writing looks washed, but the tee does not. In some pictures, due to the sun, I think, the tee shirt looks faded. It is not. It is a pure, solid, saturated, new black tee). The leaf in the picture is not a part of the t-shirt.

Memorial Tees are part of my Soapbox Tee line. Soapbox Tees are t-shirts that like to speak their minds.

Memorial Tees help keep alive the memories and names of those who have been sacrificed in the name of a very questionable war.

We are supporting our troops by promoting their quick and safe return home.

The names of the dead have been taken from published accounts of the deaths of American service men and women, and those of Iraqi civilians. Only first names are used. In some cases fictitious names are used to protect the privacy of the families.

Memorial Tees will be offered in all sizes, from very, very small, to very, very large.

All people, regardles of size, have the right to protest, and to look cute and at the same time.

Shirt measurements:
18 inches from shoulder to shoulder
18 1/2 inches from armpit to armpit
26 inches long

Two dollars from the purchase of this tee will be donated to two amazing organizations.
One dollar will go to Vets For Vets, a group that does impressive work with returning veterans, and one dollar will go to the American Friends Service Committee, a group that does great work with war refugees.

It says:

BENNIE IS
GONE

HE WAS 25.

THIS IS THE
COST OF WAR.

This shirt is part of my Memorial Tee collection, t-shirts that help us remember those who have perished in the Iraq war. Bennie was an American serviceman who died in the line of duty. I do research to find names of stories of people, both GIs and civilians (Americans and Iraqis) who have died in the war.

Instead of shouting their names from the rooftops, I thought maybe we could wear their names on our chests.

A small price to pay for not being the Bennies of the world and/or their familes.

This shirt is a somewhat boxy, unisex cut. But definitely on the smallish side. Measurements are: 14 1/2 across the shoulders; 17 inches from armpit to armpit; and 23 inches from top of shoulder to bottom of hem.

I also have this shirt in other sizes and colors including rust, blue, and sage. Convo me for more info.

(That's a lot of info for one sentence). It says:

JULIO
WANTED TO
BECOME A
CITIZEN

HE WENT TO IRAQ.
HE DIED.
HE DID.

I have these shirts in other sizes, fabric weights, styles, and colors, as well.
They've also been made in a more unisex boxy shape style tee (in the same lightweight fabric, and also in a heavier weight fabric).
Colors are black, rust, a great steel/military blue, brown, and light sage.

This top is part of my Memorial Tee collection: T-shirts that help us remember those who have lost their lives in the war. Take a look at my SoapBox Tees, t-shirts that like to speak their minds. Feel good about the important message you are sharing when you wear this t-shirt. Oh, yes, and they feel good, too (next to the skin, that is).

Measurements: 17 inches across bust (armpit to armpit), 14 to 15 inches (depending on how much I pull and stretch) across top of shoulders, tapers at waist to 14 1/2 inches, and from top of neckline to bottom hem is 26 1/2 inches (this shirt is long! almost tunic long; if you like a shorter top you can (or I can) slice some inches off the bottom (that is, with a raw edge).

Fitted Girly Memorial Tee Shirt for American Servicewoman

$25.00
This 100% black cotton (a.k.a "ribbed cotton") is a lovely, soft, mid to heavy weight cotton t shirt that has been silk screened on the front with:

Spread Democracy

Speak Up About The War

On the right sleeve is a patch of cotton fabric that has been hand painted and printed with the name of an American servicewoman who lost her life in the Iraq war.
It says:

Lori Ann, 23
Let us never forget

The patch has been sewn on with variagated pinks, greens, blues and purples embroidery thread. The paint on the patch is primarily blue-green. Lettering is a weathered, worn black.

The names on my Memorial Tee shirts have been taken from actual accounts of Americans and Iraqis who have died in the Iraq war. I use first names only, and have changed some details to protect the privacy of the surviving families. These shirts are intended to help preserve the memory of the lost and sacrificed in this questionable war. The toll is terrific, and perhaps some people ought to be reminded of the lives taken and those forever altered and ruined by war.

We can support our troops by bringing them home safely.

Measurements and size:
This top is a women's medium, but it is a small medium.
14 1/2 inches from shoulder to shoulder
21 1/2 inches long from top of neckline to bottom hem
16 3/4 across bustline from armpit to armpit

Feel free to convo me for help with measurements.

Please take a look at my Soapbox Tee collection, t-shirts that like to speak their minds.
