This piece represents Orange County, California, where I spent the majority of my youth. Amidst the sameness of a stuccoed "planned community" runs two rivers of diversity despite the constraints of the perfect world the county tries to create.

This is a fairly large piece that requires a reasonable amount of space and good lighting. Please keep this in consideration before purchasing. I will ship this anywhere in the United States free of charge.

An abstract experimentation that never seems to end.
I finally had to cut myself off for fear of running out of paint. The result is is a robust and colorful piece with a lot of visual depth.

After many layers of paint and a deep, rich texture, this piece developed into a really dynamic painting with lots of movement and energy. Because of that energy, I titled the painting after the large earthquake fault line that runs through the center of California.

This piece started as an experiment with a different type of brush usage. Normally I use large brushes and pallet knives to layer the paint, but I wanted to see if I could use the knives less, smaller brushes and a thinner application of paint. The process was rapid, almost frantic, switching back and forth to different colors and brushes. Flatter in appearance that many of my paintings, and more cool tones, I believe this painting still embodies my style even from a different paint process.

The title on this comes from never being satisfied with the work. I'm my own biggest critic and when I'm not happy, I keep layering the paint. Sometimes though, you just need to stop and accept it for what it is. I am happy with the result. The color and extremely deep texture has grown on me, but I hope you love it from the start.

Johannes Gutenberg was the inventor of movable type, which gave way to printing as we know it. With a strong base of process color (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black), I tap into my graphic design roots. What comes out might make Gutenberg roll in his grave, but I think the piece really comes alive. Must be seen in the light to truly be appreciated.
