Then try one of these Hoser Cosies....It is hand made from recycled (cleaned) vintage plaid textiles and vintage Canadian patches. All are different in patch style and plaid pattern, making yours one of a kind. I will select a surprise one to send to you, but it will be with one of the plaids pictured. The interior has a soft foam insulated space to keep your hot coffee warm, or that cold beer chilly.

This is one of my signature pieces, the OOAK, "Albino Love" brooch, featuring two smitten squirrels, grasping a sterling silver heart balloon string.

Inspired by the elusive Albino Squirrels that live in the local park, Trinity Bellwoods in Toronto...over the years they've attracted a following and some believe that they are little creatures of good fortune. I looove their red eyes...creepy, but delightful!

“Bitter Hearts”

Posters on Lamp Posts, Declarations of love scribbled in bathroom stalls, Text in chalk on dusty sidewalks, Bubble gum comics, Journal entries; in soft leather bound, Valentine cards in second grade, fortune cookies and most of all Sweet Heart candies.

It is the serendipitous nature of the above situations in which text is encountered that inspired the Multiples piece, “Bitter Hearts”. I have no expectations about the text that I encounter in these situations and wanted to create something that manipulated one of the above examples of found text. Working with the naïve nature of the text found on the candies, I manipulated this to create pieces with a “bitter” approach. This piece also makes reference to the fact that jewellery is in many ways like candy; consumable and pleasing to encounter visually, but also with references that must not be overlooked.

My work is playful and is often created in response to challenging traditional concepts of value, love and possession. I attempt to question and challenge the boundaries that have defined the jewellery of the past by presenting works that engage the viewer with a bit of humor.

This OOAK Sugar Spoon was exhibited with the Ontario Metal Arts Guilds Annual Exhibition, entitled "Turn up the Volume" and received an award.

It is fabricated entirely from Sterling Silver, and hand engraved with the text : "A Spoonful of Sugar Helps the Medicine go down." The spoon stem is adorned with a hollow constructed, "sugar cube" which is textured to mimic the sparkle of a sugar cube. Perfect for a special occassion gift, Julie Andrews fan, a coffee lover or Mary Poppins fan ;)

This is my version of a Canadian Lapel pin, an alternative to the little flags that some folks like to wear upon their collars.

The Stubby bottle was used almost exclusively in Canada from 1962 to 1986 in an effort to standardize the bottles in use. Many Canadians are nostalgic about these bottles, and perhaps a tear or two made it into the long necked beer bottles that were sent in to replace them.

Many micro brewers in Canada are using the stubby again, which are valued for keeping the beer cooler due to the shape, and less tippy tippy at parties on the coffee table.

Materials: Sterling Silver, Hand-carved Acrylic. Mounted on cardstock, with a nice clutch and pin stem.

Measurements: 2 cm x .5cm

Colour: Beer bottle brown and Silver, or cherry red and silver

I find myself drawn to the irony and humor in the clichéd images that re-appear within our collective idea of Canada. As I explore and manipulate these symbols I hope to emphasize the importance of identity, the power of nostalgia for places and people forgotten and the layers of meaning that develop when these symbols are distorted, combined or forgotten.

This ring was launched at the Mc Clure and Egan Gallery in the "Object 2007" exhibition....but their most recent incarnation in wood was launched at the "Come up to my Room" exhibition, 2008.

Inspired by the souvenir, and the desire to take a "piece" of a place away with you, this design is inspired by my love of Canadiana....

I find myself drawn to the irony and humor in the clichéd images that re-appear within our collective idea of Canada. As I explore and manipulate these symbols I hope to emphasize the importance of identity, the power of nostalgia for places and people forgotten and the layers of meaning that develop when these symbols are distorted, combined or forgotten.

This ring was launched at the Mc Clure and Egan Gallery in the "Object 2007" exhibition....but their most recent incarnation in wood was launched at the "Come up to my Room" exhibition, 2008.
