I work in a field were just about all of my colleagues are from somewhere else. So I eat the best home cooked international food – all the time! One friend brings me her rice bags when she is done with them, this rice bag one is the largest.

This is my contribution to the repurposed world, it’s made of burlap (from India), leather scraps, thick cotton webbing and lined in denim.

I named this very large tote for Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, or M.I.A. MIA is my son’s favorite hip hop artist. She makes a blend of hip hop and ethnic beats. Our music industry should promote more of this kind of work, as it is the future. Although this rice bag is from India, she is actually from Sri Lanka. She isn’t touring in this country this year, so Mando will have to wait until she tours here again.

Time Magazine placed M.I.A. in the Time 100 list of "World's Most Influential people" for having "global influence across many genres". My favorite song is “come around” which includes a contribution from Timbaland. We all know who Timbaland is!

This hobo messenger is a conglomeration of many pieces of buttery soft medium leather, gold chenille fabric and the lining is blue denim.

Most of the seams are double if not triple stitched so that it will wear well for those of us to carry way too much. The outside pockets are riveted for extra durability.

These hobo messengers are one of a kind and are signed and numbered.

The Details:

The two front pockets are 7 w by 11.
There are also four pockets on the inside one is zippered at 7 x 7 and the other 3 are: approximately 6 X 6

The bottom with is 4 inches in depth and is two layers of leather thick, and crazy stitched together.

The chocolate brown strap is an adjustable 47 inches long so that you can wear it cross body or, simply across your shoulder.

Two nickel magnetic snaps close the top of the bag.

All hardware is nickel.

I remember where I was, the first time I saw Michael Jackson’s Thriller. MTV was all over it….What was a it ? - a 15 minute video of something like that? Anyway there I sat at the bar, drinking my beer, and watching Michael Jackson do his thing.

My gal pal hustles me out of the bar QUICK. Apparently we were gonna get our butts beat for hustling the college guys. That’s how we earned our beer money in college. Playing stupid at the pool table. Worked like a charm!

She went on to be a doctor in LA. She does hearts I think… Anyway, although it was fun, things are much tamer now. I prefer to talk to people, rather than hustle them.

This bag is a great conversation starter. Try it.

Guy Bag, Man Bag, Murse, Portfolio, Satchel, Briefcase, Messenger, European shoulder bag....whatever you want to call it, I designed this for a man, because the minimum drop is 25 inches. Of course you can be a tall female (taller than me anyway!).

The bag itself is hand stitched and the strap is machine stitched. I used it as a prototype for an Obama Makes History Messenger Bag for Chef Garvin out in L.A.

His idea (the chef), sprang from the movie Reign Over Me, with Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler. It's the only movie I can stand to watch with Adam Sandler! ( I have been called humorless)

Good movie.

Designed with a guy in mind and influenced by the movie.

This is the coolest textured leather faux croc.

The inside is lined with thick indigo bleached denim. I left the edges unfinished so that the denim will add a feathered texture to the teardrop.

Amador from Venezuela believed that if you drank the whole bottle of Tequila and then ate the worm, one could have visions. So he went to a party with his dorm roommate and the two proceeded to drink the whole bottle of Tequila.

It is not clear whether Amador ate the worm, but he did leave the party to stumble home. He felt sick and grabbed onto what he thought was a pole. He barfed on that pole. He felt much better, and then looked up to see that the pole was actually a statue of the Virgin Mary.

OMG, he is going to burn in hell, as most Latin Americans would believe. The next morning, he wakes up to go clean off the statue of the Virgin Mary.

Lesson learned, did you really have to drink the whole bottle?
