Evantide Necklace - The main stone is in this necklace is Ametrine with a beautiful large Pink Amethyst Briolette Pendant. Ametrine is a naturally occurring marriage of sister gemstones Amethyst and Citrine. The color gradation is created by differing oxidation states of iron within the crystal. Faceted Smokey Quartz rondelles and sterling silver Balinese beads finished off with a large heavy Vintage Reverse Horse Head Intaglio Box Clasp Set in Sterling Silver. Measures just shy of 8". Will fit 6-1/2 to 7-1/2 inch wrist nicely. Can be resized.

About the Clasp:
The vintage clasp is hand painted from behind. Set in a sterling silver. Essex crystals, sometimes referred to as reverse crystals or Intaglio, came into being in the mid to later 19th century. Rock crystal is cut en cabochon (a back flat, the front rounded and smooth). Skilled artists then carved out the rock crystal from the back in a desired form – often animal motifs. Once carved out, the depressions were then carefully painted in detail. Mother of pearl was often used as a base and backing and once turned to the front, an extraordinary image is evident in-the-round. Horses, dogs, cats, pheasants and sporting scenes were some of the more featured themes. Depending on the size of the crystal, and the skill of the artisans involved, some are rich in detail and can be viewed from the side and appear near life-like in thier three dimensional nature.

I hand formed this hollow lentil shaped pendant and then set a pearl in the middle. It is made of PMC, which is 99.9% pure fine silver. The surface has been oxidized producing a beautiful aged patina to bring out the details of design. It hangs from a 16" sterling silver rolo chain, which has also been oxidized.

Made from recycled wood Scrabble Tiles with graphics sealed in a thick glass-like coating sealed for durability. Although a sealer has been applied making this pendant water resistant, it is not completely water proof and should be removed before swimming or showering.

Scrabble tile measures about .75" X .75".

Labradorite is truely a fascinatingly beautiful mineral. Its a mineral whose charm is not fully noticed and may be overlooked if not viewed from the proper position. Generally a dull, dark looking mineral with no special virtue until the colorful shiller is observed glowing on the surface. Labradorite can produce a colorful play of light across cleavage planes and in sliced sections called labradorescence. The usually intense colors range from the typical blues and violets through greens, yellows and oranges.
