The doves are cut from handmade paper I make out of junk mail, last season's holiday cards and envelopes, used office fliers and every other piece of cool paper I can get my hands on. A very small amount of fine glitter adds a slight sparkle. I add seeds from flowers I grow myself and add their petals to the pulp to create the neat bleeding effects.

The paper will gently decompose in soil as the plants grow.

This is the ring-tailed lemur, a small prosimian "monkey" that lives in Madagascar, an island off the east coast of Africa. Ring-tailed lemurs are well known for their charismatic tails. They are also one of the very few primate species in which females are dominant. Lemur ladies are tough little cookies who engage in "stink fights." They mark their territory with scented glands in their limbs and vigorously defend it during stink fights. When chillin' after a fight, they are known to sit like people and bathe in the sun. Madagascar is the only place in the world where lemurs live in the wild. Most of them are threatened with extinction because of habitat loss.

This handmade paper card is chock full of snapdragon seeds. The seeds are embedded right in the pulp so when the card is finished being enjoyed, it can be planted to grow.

You can see a sprout growing right out of the paper in the photo to the right. Planting instructions are included.

A heart-shaped leaf is embossed on the front of the card.

I make them from tree free pulp that comes from esparto grass. The pink comes from adding Netflix envelopes to the pulp.

These limited edition plantable cards are made one at a time from salvaged esparto grass paper. They have flower seeds embedded right in the paper so you can plant and grow the card.

Each one comes with planting instructions.

You can see the sprouts coming alive through the paper in the picture at the right. They germinate easily using the method I recommend.

**** ABOUT ESPARTO GRASS ****
Esparto grass was used in the late 1800s and early 1900s to make fine papers for drawing and painting. The grass grows naturally in North Africa where it is still harvested by hand. Esparto grass was once the primary source of fine papers for the British empire until tree pulp came into widespread use.

Pressed lunaria flowers decorate the front of this light purple handmade paper card. The card also has lunaria seeds embedded in it — to plant when finished enjoying the card. Of course, you could frame them too! They are just that beautiful.

Lunaria is a fragrant plant that produces big bunches of purple flowers and unique seed pods that look like silver dollars. They are so cool and smell great too. Fully grown, they stand about 4 feet tall and have big, broad leaves - perfect to hide an ugly foundation! Did I mention they smell great? They do!

Each handmade paper bear comes with flower and/or herb seeds embedded inside. I make the paper from 100% recycled, post-consumer paper like used office paper, junk mail, advertising fliers — you name it! I use seeds that I hand gather myself from plants I grow organically.

Instead of throwing them away and creating waste, they can be planted to grow.

Mount them to card stock and create your own plantable cards for a fraction of the cost of buying them already made.

Bears are made out of 100% post-consumer content handmade paper that is made one sheet at a time using traditional papermaking techniques. The teddy bears are then individually cut out of the paper.

PLANTING NOTE: You can grow the bears with herb seeds indoors at any time of year. For best results, the bears should be planted in the spring after the last winter frost.

From the "Scraped From the Barrel" collection, this handmade paper oak leaf card is made with lavender and has lavender seeds embedded in it.

I've been making handmade paper like this for ten years. I always use 100% post-consumer material except the seeds, but they come from lavender I grow myself using organic methods. I collect the seeds in the fall. Each card is hand embossed with an oak leaf. And, because each is actually made using fresh lavender, the cards are fragrant.

Perfect for any gift-giving occasion.

SIZE:
Cards are about 4 x 5 inches rectangular.
They are smooth inside and easy to write on with a pen.
A 100% recycled, brown Kraft paper envelope is included.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Instructions on how to grow the card are included. They germinate well using the recommended technique.

COLOR: The cards I have in stock now are a darker lavender color and the stain from the oak leaves are less pronounced.
