I used acrylics, ink, pages and papers for my background. The image is a copy of a stunning Marie Antoinette, dressed in her finery. I have added some lace and trims from vintage linen, also a gorgeous vintage earring with beautiful stones. This piece should be displayed in an art stand or easel, as shown in my photo. Miniature Tin Type Assemblage Mixed Media by Kathy

This is a limited edition piece, a one of a kind and will not be reproduced. This is a mixed media assemblage called, “dressed up”. This piece is made from ring box, and opens to reveal a little vignette. I added white lace to the side elements of this sweet box, and 1 ribbon flower on the bottom of each. Now inside is a story of a girl who is all “dressed up”. I used an antique tin type of this pretty gal with a striped dress and ribbon in her hair. I added some pretty lace and embroidery from a ladies hanky, a cluster of bone china buttons and two vintage rhinestone jeweled pieces. This is a sweet little box, which also tells a story, so charming.

Mixed Media Assemblage Shadow Box by Kathy Vintage RePurposed

This is a wooden shadow box assemblage. This box measures 5 by 1 ½ inches. This is a one of a kind mixed media assemblage and will not be duplicated. This will come signed and dated.
I painted this box ivory, and then distressed it a bit for added age. This box including the glass and will sit on the bottom to display. Inside there are lots of wonderful collectables. Inside this box are many beautiful old vintage things. I used a piece of wall paper from 1942 for the background of the box. I have a very old postcard, which I have torn to highlight the embossed blue flower, it is very pretty. Also there is some lace from a very old ladies hanky, a bunch of paper roses, golden butterfly and the most exquisite vintage pin. It contains many beautiful stones and clear rhinestones. This will look very pretty sitting along with your shabby or vintage collections.

Here I have a vintage bisque porcelain doll head/bust, which I have altered into a mixed media assemblage. This doll head has no glazing or painting, I did antique her a bitto show age, perfectly I think. I added a piece from an old vintage ladies hanky and some vintage lace. I strung a vintage black and white rhinsetone braclet to adorn her neck and finally added some vintage jewelry earring her. If you decorate in shabby-chic or vintage this sweet piece will look great with your other treasures.

This is a limited edition piece, a one of a kind and will not be reproduced. This is a vintage brass frame from Italy and it has a lovely patina, it measures 8 ½ by 5 inches, and there is a hanger on the back. The oval collage measures 3 ½ by 3 ½ inches. The glass is original and it is convex.
I used a piece of vintage wall paper for the background, and then added images to it. The image is a beautiful vintage woman. I added the words “"would the light of the new day, lessen the saddness”. There are some bits of a paper doily and flowers scattered around her.

CHERISH Altered Book Cover Collage Mixed Media by Kathy

This is a collage piece that I have created on an antique book cover. This piece measures 6 by 10 inches, including chain 15 inches long. I used the inside cover and left the wonderful old patina of the outside cover to show on the back. I used tissue paper, torn pages and stamps for my texture and then used acrylics for the background. I named this “cherish”, and used the definition of that word. The photograph is of a young man and woman, so sweetly posing with their heads together. I added some floral and nostalgic embellishments to finish this piece, including a skeleton key and golden religious medal. To hang this collage, some old chain is attached to the top.

This is one of my altered tin assemblages. This is a mint tin, it measures 2 1/4 by 3 4 by 3/4 an inch. This piece was aged to perfection to give it an old look. This is a limited edition, will not be duplicated and will be signed and dated. I used some vintage wallpaper in this assemblage, on the front and inside. Inside this assemblage is a special treasure box. It is filled with some vintage goodies, some war ration stamps, bone buttons, glass marble, bingo marker, gold butterfly and a fabulous blue miniature porcelain shoe. The inside of the lid is a collage with a beautiful image of a young girl. This is a collage piece that I have created on an antique book cover. This piece measures 7 ½ by 5 inches, the drop of the hanger is 5 inches. I used the inside cover and applied a sheet of old wallpaper as my back ground. The focal point is this wonderful photo of these 5 beautiful angels, so pretty I added some old tatting to the top of the collage and also along the bottom of the image. I made a tag for the words “listen for angel speak”. I think the best part of this collage is the hanger, it is made from a stunning vintage necklace I found in an antique shop. The blue stones are scarab “like” and there are glass beads in between. It is a beautiful old piece of jewelry. I hope this “speaks” to you!

This is a frosted glass candle, a miniature art piece. This candle is approximately 3 inches high, I have included a battery operated flameless-flicker light. Vintage Cup Doll Head Assemblage Mixed Media by Kathy

Here I have a vintage bisque porcelain doll head/bust, which I have altered into a mixed media assemblage. This doll head has been lightly antiqued, it just shows age, perfectly I think. I added a small piece from a piece of black beaded lace trim and a rhinestone finding as an adornment for her hair. She also wears black beaded trim as a cape with lace underneath. Inside this sweet coffee cup, you will find a piece cut from an old quilt, some old elegant lace and a bit of this and that, all vintage findings. Don’t miss the beautiful face of an old watch; these are some of my favorite treasures to use in my artwork. I love this little assemblage and will be making a series of these. If you decorate in shabby-chic or vintage this sweet piece will look great with your other treasures. This piece is glued and can not be taken apart.

Vintage Mixed Media Altered Assemblage Oh Charlotte by Kathy

This is a mixed media assemblage that I call “Oh Charlotte”. This is a true one of a kind original, all pieces that are unique. There is a lot to this one, although it is small. Let’s start with the silver basket, so frilly and lacey. There is a group of silver leaves and flowers attached to the twisted handle. Inside I used a piece from an old quilt with buttons attached, and then some lace here and there, a beautiful vintage hanky is folded and tucked into the back. A large vintage jewelry finding is also in the back and lined with some appliqué lace. A large silver pendant is glued into this piece a small butterfly pin sits on the handle. Now for the best feature, the frozen Charlotte doll. She is genuine and still a bit dirty from being dug up in Germany. Love the history of these dolls. I finished it off with some pearls strung on wire and attached to the basket. This assemblage tells a story of the past… and would lovely on a table side vignette with other shabby chic or Victorian collectables.
This doll is not glued in, so she can be removed and admired.

This book is marked in many places by the owner with notes and is very interesting to look at. The book is able to be opened and looked at. The book is 7 1/2 by 5 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches. I added some vintage wall paper from 1940, and then layered some vintage goodies on top of that. A lace doily, pristine antique postcard with gorgeous detail, and some old jewelry pieces grouped together. Antique Silver Brush Mixed Media Assemblage Little girl lost by Kathy

This is a limited edition piece, a one of a kind and will not be reproduced. This is a mixed media assemblage called, “Little girl lost”. This is an antique silver brush. It is heavy and very ornate. This one tugs at my heart strings… This brush is missing the bristles, so I had to create something out of this beautiful piece. I used old wallpaper and lace and then applied this tin type from the 1800’s. It is of a lovely little girl. I used a strand of old pearls, vintage pieces of old jewelry and bone china buttons. I added some seam binding and lace to the handle, as well as a well worn angel pin. This assemblage tells a story of the past…
This piece is heavy and the shipping (US Priority w/ insurance.) will reflect that weight. As I can not control international shipping, no tracking or delivery confirmation is available, I am not offering this other than US. (Unless buyer wishes to pay for insured shipping.)

Lighted Doll Head Assemblage Mixed Media by Kathy

This is a mixed media assemblage that also is a light. For this piece I have used a vintage silver dish as my base. This piece is for the table top as an art piece. I used a vintage linen as the background. I have a cluster of piece from the same white linen, and on top of that I have a Victorian ladies shoe. Sprinkled around you will find some paper roses, millinery flowers and a string of beads. Finally the vintage doll head, she is 2 ½ by 2 by 1 ½ inches. She is lightly hand painted and I gave her a linen collar made form a piece of and old ladies hanky. She has a necklace and head piece as well. Don’t miss the face from the vintage watch, at her side. Not attached is the flicker light, which can be turned on from the bottom. This assemblage tells a story of the past… and would lovely on a table side vignette with other shabby chic or Victorian collectables.

Altered Journal Mixed Media by Kathy Random thoughts...

This is one of the altered books I create. It is original; hand created not copied and will be signed and dated. I used a blank lined journal that measures 5 ½ by 5 ½ inches. I used some collage paper and old pages as the background for the photograph. The image is a reprint of a sweet little girl covering her ears. There is a bit of gesso to soften the book and a tiny bit of old lace with a silver vintage finding. This journal is for: “random thoughts and daily ponders”. Nice piece for a gift for the holidays.

Vintage Change Purse Assemblage Mixed Media by Kathy

This is a limited edition piece, a one of a kind and will not be reproduced. This is a mixed media assemblage called, “hope”. This is a vintage change purse that has been “well loved”, but I thought it needed some life. I attached a crocheted sachet to the top, and a cameo. Inside there is a vintage ladies hanky, pinned is a beautiful rose pin. I have a photo of a young woman and a vintage earring tucked inside as well. This is a sweet little piece to tuck somewhere, just because. The piece measures 4 by 3 by 3 inches when open. It is meant to be open and will not close.

This is a limited edition piece, a one of a kind and will not be reproduced. This is a mixed media assemblage called, “angel in my house”. This is a wooden house, warmly worn from the natural elements, and wonderful. I altered this into a house to hold this angel made from vintage jewelry pieces. The body is a belt buckle and the head a cameo piece. I added some golden German Scrap wings. I added a bit of old lace to the bottom. The door is another vintage finding with a beautiful stone inside, a glass bead is the door knob. This is made for the wall; it does not stand flat on a shelf but could be used on an easel. The piece measures 4 ¾ by 7 ¼ by 1 inch.

Vintage Cup Doll Head Assemblage Mixed Media by Kathy

Here I have a vintage bisque porcelain doll head/bust, which I have altered into a mixed media assemblage. This doll head has been lightly antiqued, it just shows age, perfectly I think. I added a small piece from an old tatted lace trim and a sculpted flower finding as an adornment for her hair. Inside this sweet coffee cup, you will find 2 vintage hankies, a vintage button card, a torn piece of old quilt a vintage jewelry piece and 2 ribbon flowers. I love this little assemblage and will be making a series of these. If you decorate in shabby-chic or vintage this sweet piece will look great with your other treasures. This piece is glued and can not be taken apart.

This is one of my altered tin assemblages. This is a mint tin, it measures 2 1/4 by 3 4 by 3/4 an inch. This piece was aged to perfection to give it an old look. This is a limited edition, will not be duplicated and will be signed and dated. I used some vintage wallpaper in this assemblage, on the front as my background and inside. Inside this assemblage tells a story “learn the secret of the sea”. My background is vintage wallpaper from the 40’s. One side is a sweet image of a young lady sitting by the sea. The other side holds some treasures from the sea. I gathered these items from the beach of the Outer Banks. I have some dried sea weed, some shells, driftwood and a piece of brown beach glass. This assemblage would look lovely tucked within some vintage treasures, decorating your home; or make a great gift for your loved one.

This is a limited edition piece, a one of a kind and will not be reproduced. This is a mixed media assemblage called, “take time to smell the roses”. This is a lid to a tin which I painted blue and aged it a bit by distressing it. I used old pages and papers for the background. You will find moss and paper roses, bits of lace and trims and pearls. The sweet little fairy is a vintage photo of a baby girl that I cut out. I added German scrap wings and a crown. This is made for the wall as it hangs by the pearls on a wire. The piece measures 5 by 5 by 1/2 inch.

This is a mixed media assemblage called, “Wedding Day”. This is an antique amber colored bottle. It is heavy and beautiful and it even included the glass stopper, although it is glued in place. I did not want to force it. This is another one that tugs at my heart strings… it tells the story of this couple’s wedding day. I added the words “two little words spoken, and two becomes one”. I used a strand of old pearls, vintage pieces of old jewelry and some gorgeous old linen’s. This assemblage would be a one of a kind wedding gift or something to remind you of your own wedding day…

Vintage Sewing Doll Head Assemblage Mixed Media by Kathy

This is a mixed media assemblage called, “Sew Sally”. This is a vintage Avon Cut Crystal dish; it is heavy and very ornate. This is a different piece for me to create. This piece is for the table top as an art piece. I used a vintage linen as the background. I have a cluster of vintage sewing goodies, an old button card, box of buttons, old spools and a piece from a quilt. Sprinkled around you will find some old beads and findings. Finally the vintage doll head, she is 3 by 2 by 1 ½ inches. She is lightly hand painted and I gave her a linen collar made form a piece of and old ladies hanky. This assemblage tells a story of the past… and would lovely on a table side vignette with other shabby chic or Victorian collectables.

Antique Silver Mirror Mixed Media Assemblage Reflections of the past by Kathy

This is a limited edition piece, a one of a kind and will not be reproduced. This is a mixed media assemblage called, “reflections of the past”. This is an antique silver hand mirror. It is very heavy and very ornate. This one tugs at my heart strings… This mirror is missing the glass, so I had to create something out of this beautiful piece. I used an old doily as the base and then applied this tin type from the 1800’s. It is of a lovely lady in her finest dress. I used a strand of old pearls, many vintage pieces of old jewelry including this fabulous old watch case. There is a bit of black beaded trim, that I use sparingly as I only have small pieces left. This assemblage tells a story of the past…
This piece is heavy and the shipping (US Priority w/ insurance.) will reflect that weight. As I can not control international shipping, no tracking or delivery confirmation is available, I am not offering this other than US. (Unless buyer wishes to pay for insured shipping.)

Marie Antoinette altered cigar box, this is original; hand created not copied and will be signed and dated. The inside of the box is as I found it, ready for some of your ephemera or keepsakes, but is not decorated. I used tissue paper, vintage wall paper and acrylics for the background of this piece. There are three images of beautiful Marie, as well as a few images from France. This one has many embellishments, pieces of antique linens, ribbon roses and some fabulous vintage jewelry findings. I added 4 pink, glass stones to the bottom of the box. This will be a nice addition for a collector.
The dimensions are, 8 ¾ by 7 ½ by 2 inches.

This is a heart shaped heavy wire piece, to which I have added many pretty things. I used a piece from vintage linen some pretty paper roses and a vintage brooch as a wonderful accent. The focal point is the ACEO I created using this image of Mother and child, I added some old buttons and a torn page from an old diary. This is made for the wall as it hangs by the section of an old necklace. The piece measures 5 3/4 by 6 by 1 1/2 inches, not including the hanger.

Altered Keepsake Box Memoires of FAMILY Mixed Media by Kathy

This is a keepsake or treasure box I have created from a decorator box. It is original; hand created not copied and will be signed and dated. This box is 6 by 2 inches. I used some old wall paper on top of the box, it is beautiful and from 1942. I added a photo, a reprint of a vintage photograph. It is a sweet trio of little tots, so special. I added some bits of an old postcard, pieces from a vintage linen hanky and a couple vintage jewelry findings. It reads, “Memories of family, Are held within my heart”. The inside is still as I found it, just waiting for your treasures. I have come to adore this box while creating it, so I hope it finds a wonderful home to adorn.

She Wore a New Hat Vintage Inspired Fabric Collaged Zippered Pouch by Kathy

This starts with the zippered pouch that is 4 inches wide by 4 inches high. This was created by Lori of Balasadesigns.
I altered this by adding bits of fabric, lots of lace and vintage buttons, findings, or jewelry. You will find an image as well, printed on muslin. This is a fun and practical piece to carry or just use as an art piece grouped with other things.

This box is painted with a couple different acrylics to get the finish I desire, and left plain on the inside. This one features a sweet little fairy that carries a very special wand. I used some old vintage lace and some pretty vintage jewelry pieces as accents. It is shabby, and pink, and very girly. This is a must have for a special gift, if you want to use this as presentation of the gift, or it is a special little thought all by itself. This box will come signed and dated.

There is a cover and 3 more pages for this booklet. The theme is WISDOM IN SIMPLE WORDS, and features photos of beautiful women. Each page is collaged and embellished with papers, lace, photos, images, and vintage findings and jewelry. I bound this fabulous little treasure with ivory vintage seam binding. This is an art piece and a collectable. One of those treasures that you can look at time and time again, and see a different element each time. I hope you like it!

The book measures 4 ½ by 3 ½ inches. The pages are lined. This is a gratitude journal, I have one right on my bedside table and I add three things daily, things I am grateful for. Challenge yourself to do this daily, to stop and reflect...I love the meaning of this little book I hope you do as well; I will be getting more in my shop soon. I used a vintage image as well as special bits from antique hankies, some adorned with vintage jewels.

ANTIQUE TIN TYPE Book Assemblage Mixed Media by Kathy

This is a limited edition piece, a one of a kind and will not be reproduced. This is a mixed media assemblage created on an antique book, called History and Poems, by Shakespeare. This book is marked in some places by the owner, and is very interesting to look at. The book is able to be opened and looked at. The book is 7 by 4 1/2 by 1 inches. I added some vintage wall paper from 1940, and then layered some vintage goodies on top of that. A lace doily, a grouping of bone china buttons, and some old jewelry pieces grouped together. The focal point is the fantastic tin type photograph from the early 1900’s. It features a lovely woman who wears a rosary around her neck, a very unique piece of history.

This is one of the series of collage journals I create. It is original; hand created not copied and will be signed and dated. I used a blank, lined, spiral bound journal that measures 5 1/2 by 8 inches. This is a good quality blank journal with beautiful pages. I painted this book black, distressed it and added glaze. This one is in the theme of “DAD”. This is a great Father’s day gift. I used old ledger sheets, vintage war stamps and this wonderful photo of these two men with the American flag. Great for the patriotic man also.

This is a collage piece that I have created on an antique book cover. This piece measures 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches. I used some old pages, papers and gesso for this background. I really like this photo of this older woman, she seems so lovely. It is called “these are a few of my favorite things”, and will come signed and dated. I used a cut out from a vintage post card with these embossed flowers, a few bits and pieces of vintage jewelry and lace finishes it.

FREEDOM USA Patriotic Altered Tin Assemblage by Kathy

This is one of my altered tin assemblages. This is an old mint tin, it measures 2 1/4 by 3 4 by 3/4 an inch. This piece was aged to perfection to give it an old look. This is a limited edition, will not be duplicated and will be signed and dated. The outside of this tin is not decorated, has the lovely old patina with just enough rust. Inside this assemblage tells a story of “Freedom in the USA”. One side is simple and just sows some vintage papers and some patriotic embellishments. The other side is the focal point and features a tin type photograph with original frame, the photo is a man dressed in his finest with his bow tie askew. These tin types are a true piece of history, dating back to the late 1800’s. This assemblage would look lovely tucked within some vintage treasures, decorating your home; or make a great gift for your loved one.

ON SALE New Orleans Tin Assemblage by Kathy

Happy Mardi Gras…This assemblage is my tribute to New Orleans. I used an old Altoid tin and painted it copper and distressed it lightly to appear aged. This is a three section assemblage, the back is not worked. The front shows the tribute to New Orleans, a vintage map, and some fun Mardi Gras embellishments. Inside there is a street scene, Bourbon Street! A cut out from an old postcard, a vintage showgirl, and a horse pulling a carriage are on the street. The other side, is for Mardi Gras…This group of men are sitting on the streets edge as a parade passes, a piece of a postcard from 1910, and a small vintage child’s toy, adorn this side. The toy may have been one of the treasures thrown from the floats. There is a lot to see on this fun piece of art.

This is a one of a kind art piece and will not be reproduced. This is a mixed media altered book assemblage called, “family”. These pages are collaged all hand created not copied! This book is altered from a chipboard book, that measures 6 ½ by 1 ½ inches. I painted the base black and created from there. There are 16 collaged pages, completely designed. The inside and back cover are painted black. Now I am only able to showcase 5 pictures with this listing, but I will also post a link for the Flickr Set I have made to show all the pages. You might have to click to enlarge the pages once there.
The theme for this altered book is Family. I have used many photos, all copies of my originals. You will find sayings, ephemera, old bone china buttons, vintage jewelry pieces, old lace, old trims, game pieces German Scrap, and many wonderful surprises. The backgrounds for the pages will be old sheet music, old book pages and vintage wallpaper from a Montgomery Wards wallpaper sample book dating 1926. The wallpaper in itself is beautiful. Vintage Doll Head Shades of White Mixed Media Altered Art by Kathy

Here I have a vintage bisque porcelain doll head/bust, which I have altered into a mixed media assemblage. This doll head has no glazing or painting, it just shows age, perfectly I think. I added a piece from an old vintage linen with some embroidery and a crocheted trim. Then we have some peach colored tatting. I strung some pearls on a rusty wire to adorn her neck and finally added some vintage jewelry to her. I think this is so pretty in shades of white. If you decorate in shabby-chic or vintage this sweet piece will look great with your other treasures.

Welcome BABY Altered Cigar Box Assemblage by Kathy

This is a keepsake or treasure box I have created from a cigar box. It is original; hand created not copied and will be signed and dated. This cigar box is 8 by 8 by 1 3/4 inches, I added some copper wooden feet to the bottom. There are so many beautiful components to this assemblage. I used acrylics and ink as my back ground; the image is from an old photo album, an angelic little baby, who wears a gold necklace, beautiful. I added some pretty old lace in a grouping with some brass vintage findings; a giraffe and elephant. There is some pretty vintage wallpaper from 1940 and lots of old lace to decorate this keepsake. The inside is still as I found it, just waiting for your baby’s mementos. I have come to adore this box while creating it, so I hope it finds a wonderful home to adorn.

Season of the WITCH Cigar Box Assemblage by Kathy

This is a keepsake or treasure box I have created from a cigar box. It is original; hand created not copied and will be signed and dated. This cigar box is 8 by 6 by 2 ¼ inches, I added some antique white glass beads to the bottom. There are so many beautiful components to this assemblage. I used a page from an old magazine from 1942 as my back ground; the images of the withes by Lunagirl. I added some pretty old lace in a grouping with some vintage findings; including a stunning fan pin that can be removed and worn. The focal point is the half tin assemblage that features our witchy pair; I love their black lace gloves. Don’t miss the finding I am using as the “lock”, it is missing some stones but I thought it was beautiful. The inside is still as I found it, just waiting for your own treasures. I have come to adore this box while creating it, so I hope it finds a wonderful home to adorn.
