A pattern by the late great Hawaiian Shirt, clothing and textile designer Alfred Shaheen.

"Alfred Shaheen was the most creative and prolific Hawaiian manufacturer in the heyday of post-WWII fashion. Shaheen pioneered Hawaii's vital garment manufacturing industry by stretching beyond the limits imposed by the isolation of the Hawaiian Islands. During pre-statehood Hawaii, a critical time in Hawaii's economic development, Shaheen built the most comprehensive textile printing, garment manufacturing, and retail company Hawaii would ever see. Shaheen accomplished this feat through his vision, inventiveness, engineering brilliance, and unreserved commitment to authenticity and excellence..."

This pattern is in an oversized envelope and printed on heavy paper, not tissue.
There is a hostess skirt, a side zipped dress and a button shoulder dress. All of them look super simple to make, especially the button shoulder shift. (no zipper always makes me happy!)
The dresses pictured remind me of the Lily Pulitzer shifts from back in the day. From what I gather- takes two 27 inch wide fabric panels to make each item.

The pattern used printed panels from Shaheen's fabric line, one bought the panels of choice to make the dress- but today you can make your own panels before you cut the dress. Paint them or applique, or do some stamping or stenciling or a combo of all the surface design techniques you want to layer on.

I've been holding on to this for quite some time but the time has come to let all things go to make mental and physical space for what I do today.

This pattern is just gorgeous- or rather what you can create with it.
I love Marcy Tilton, her clothing is fabulous and so are her patterns.
This pattern includes pieces and directions for both a jacket length and a full length coat or dress/top plus tutorials in surface design stenciling and beadwork.

This pattern uses various co-ordinated piecing, gorgeous ribbons and trims if wanted.
I think using vintage Sari Silks would make a sensational top- which had been my plan- (those sari pieces will eventually come up for sale too!)
Velvets for the coat (or dress) would be lovely and could be very festive for the holidays.

Gorgeous high end Home Decorating Fabric- though it would be gorgeous for OOAK clothing. I thought it would make a fab evening cocktail coat and/or dress. (or lining a black silk jacket) Lovely evening bag or big funky purse would also rock.
And of course you could use it for drapes, pillows or any other thing you want for the home. would make a very luxurious throw or backing a dramatic quilt.

This fabric would be perfect for faire wear and SCA costume makers to make a luscious period gown

This beautiful fabric is still on a round tube bolt but will be taken off for shipping. It is very good quality and comes from a high-end upholstery shop. I was asking $60.00- which was still much less than I paid and a very good deal!

But Christmas is coming and I'm not using it- so off it goes.

I believe it is silk- I was told it was when I purchased it but to be sure I did a burn test on some threads and they did burn and didn't melt.

This is a such a lovely trim. It would make a wonderful trim around the hem of a skirt, cuffs and placket of a blouse or sweater and a great belt/sash. Would also be a terrific wristlet strap, choker or a cuff, either embellished or as is.
Of course altered books, journal art, art quilts art dolls and altered clothing would look scrumptious with this trim as well as home decor items; pillows, throws, sachets, wall hangings and such-or how about trimming your sheets/bedding- with lace and ribbon- yummy.

I love this fabric but it is just sitting and sitting and sitting and taking up space. How much can one girl have???

This fabric comes from a high end upholsterer/home dec shop.
It measures 1yard 34" x 54" wide.
It would make any number of groovy home dec projects- pillows, covering some dining chairs or footstool.
But it would be fabulous for a small fitted jacket or an interesting hat, use it for fab purses which is what I purchased it for.
Would also be appropriate for a vest for SCA or other costuming needs.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the manufacturer.
I believe it is a heavy silk though I cannot be sure, I just have too much stuff and can't remember. I took a few threads and burnt them, they didn't melt, they burned up so it is definitely a natural fiber.

Unusual Vintage Jacquard trim Motif. 3 yards New Old Stock

This is really an unusual motif. It reminds me of something tribal, perhaps a sun symbol or motif. It is a high quality jacquard/woven with an orangey-red motif and thin border on a white background. Would be great for all kinds of embellishment from home decor to trimming a purse or jeans.

This trim measures 1.5 inches wide.
My pictures aren't doing justice. I think I used the macro (or is it micro?) where you can see the weave up close and personal but not the sheen of the flowers.

This is new old stock that came from a funny shop that closed about 10 years ago. An elderly lady who had once been a designer owned it. How I wish I had acquired more!
I will be listing much more that comes from her store and other resources- trying to trim down my collection to make room so I can purchase more.
(Don't have an inch of space.)

This is such a pretty trim, a lovely, silky floral jacquard/woven trim. Golden Yellow flowers and graceful green leaves travel along a white background with yellow borders. It measures about 7/8" wide.

I was asking $4.50 for 3 yards but have added 2 yards.

This trim is very beautiful and handmade!
I've included a picture of the back so you can see the stitching. Perfect for Christmas embellishment of an outfit or alter a purse, make yourself a cuff bracelet, a choker or even an anklet.

Rich Red silk with gold leaves and flowers vine, metallic thread stitching and tiny gold sequins. There are accent colors of dark green and dark purple throughout the motif and metalic threads along the borders.

My pictures do no justice to it, I think I used a macro or something to show the stitches but it just makes it look garish, it really isn't.

Unusual and being handmade it is limited to what I have- approximately 5 yards.

This nice quality medium upholstery weight jaquard fabric measures 54" wide and 45" long. (1 and 1/4 yards)
I purchased this a couple of years ago at an upholstery shop.
Sorry but I don't know the manufacturer. I believe it isw 100% cotton. The "burn test" burned and didn't melt. ;-)

HOT Red Vintage Embroidered, Sequin Trim, Wide Border. entirely hand stitched. Gorgeous

OOH LA LA RED vintage hand stitched and embroidered sequin trim. This is a vintage border trim from India. You could do so much with this trim, collars, cuffs, trim on a jacket, capelet, skirt hem, belt, the bottom of some funky jeans of retro hippie bell bottoms or an apron top for Faires and Festivals. Would be wonderful for some altered art journals or books, shrines or other mixed media pieces. Also great for decorating projects such as pillows, the hem of a drape, or a border on a throw or the skirt of an ottoman.

This really is fab trim though the pix don't do justice which is entirely my fault!

It is made from a sheer silk covered with gold sequins in a circle and diamond motif and gold thread embroidery embellishments. The entire thing is hand stitched.
The trim measures 4 inches wide. There is a doubled up hem along one edge that has more gold embroidery on it. (picture coming of that) This could be let out easily as it is hand stitched. This would add another 1/2 inch with a hem or another inch without it.

This listing is for one half yard.
I almost always have additional yardage of the trims I have listed.

Gorgeous Vintage Border Trim, BOHO CHIC Woven Silk/Metal thread Rare SALE

I'm reducing this Border as I have a couple of more similar ones and need to make room for more! ;-)Was $8.00 yd.

Oh, this trim knocks me out. In fact I think it is too beautiful to call "trim" The word trim just does not impart the specialness of it. This is good enough to just put in a basket or bowl on a table and call it home decor, or art!
(the bottom picture is for a different trim that is coming up soon and is not included in this listing. But wouldn't they look lovely together?)
I believe this is silk, it is woven with a subtle metal thread. I'm not sure if it was hand woven on a loom or machine woven. I think this may be hand woven but I'm really not sure.
Anyway... I just love this stuff. Of course I say that about most of the stuff I have. I've been collecting trims and fabrics for a long time, selling some, getting more... kind of upgrading. The upward mobility of the crazy textile obsessed.
Clothes? Cars? New Shoes? Hair cut? Only if there is no textiles (or beads or buttons) on the horizon.
I look at it and so many possibilities glimmer in front of me. Too many possibilities. Home Dec projects, Hats, sashes, scarves, purses, embellishments, DIY reconstructions and deconstructions. So many ideas, so little follow through! LOL

This listing is for One Yard of this gorgeous silky trim. It measures 4 inches wide. I have 4 yards total. If you would like another yard Convo me.

Please remember that the majority of my trims are vintage. Most are New Old Stock and have been sitting in warehouses, storage units, and or my closets for years. Some are reclaimed or upcycled. There may be a snag or a spot or dusty and musty, or an imperfection of some kind in any of them whether upcycled, reclaimed, or NOS. I will say so in the descriptions if there is anything glaring. Mostly everything I have is in excellent condition unless it was something I couldn't pass up even though it was either tattered or tender.
(Aren't we all?)

This is so pretty, a lovely, silky floral jacquard/woven and very nice quality trim. Orange flowers and graceful green leaves travel along a white background with orange borders. It measures about 7/8" wide.
I was asking 4.50 for 3 yards but have added 2 yards.
I seriously need to down size.

My pictures aren't doing justice. I think I used the macro (or is it micro?) where you can see the weave up close and personal but not the sheen of the flowers.

This is new old stock that came from a funny shop that closed about 10 years ago. An elderly lady who had once been a designer owned it. How I wish I had acquired more!
I will be listing much more that comes from her store and other resources- trying to trim down my collection to make room so I can purchase more.
(Don't have an inch of space.)
