I like to make hollow forms. The process is tedious, but I find it very calming. I cut the disks, embossed with leaf texture, dome and sand the disks, solder and drill these sweet birthstone pendants. I have the winter months covered! I did November's smoky topaz (pictured), December's blue topaz, January's garnet, February's Amethyst and Rainbow Moonstone as a wildcard, but mostly because I love the blue flash. Rainbow moonstone is very magical for me.

Connect with nature wearing a real leaf preserved in copper. The copper is recycled and textured with a dried leaf rolled through my mill. The leaf is destroyed but the veins and structures of the leaf are preserved in the metal. This pendant is formed using traditional metalsmithing techniques. Over time copper will darken and become more orange in color. Clean with a silver polishing cloth.

Nostalgia Cuff--My Etsy Metal Project Runway Jewelry Challenge

My challenge for this project was to create a piece from these parameters: bracelet, bone, and Byzantine/Victorian. I knew right away that I wanted to do the Victorian style.

I did some research and this hinged style of cuff was quite the rage in the Victorian Era. Most of the pieces found were 2 styles: wide band bracelet with hinges or a wide wire with ornamental balls on the end that overlapped in the front. I used the same square wire reinforcements on the edges to add to the strength. It was fun to use my experience with antiques to help guide my work on this piece. As a young girl I helped my father with his antique business. I love the jewelry part the best!

I had Hans (my stone cutter hubby) http://www.hanswestermark.etsy.com cut a section of fossilized bone for this project. He had to recut a second stone since I broke the original bone. He trimmed down another one to make it work. (Did I say how much I love my digital calipers?)

The clasp is my favorite part. Its a spring pin clasp with a spinel set into to top of the pin. There is a safety chain as well. The side where the pin lives is secured by a wire that is soldered across the tubing and goes through the pin.

When my husband cut this stone, I knew that I had to have it. I fell in love with the shape and the mottled deep reds and blacks. I textured the sterling and pierced the back to reveal the reds of the obsidian. The five barbells that ornament the bezel go through the entire piece.

Obsidian is a very protective stone, and is excellent for removing negativity. It is also excellent protection against psychic attacks. In particular obsidian protects the gentle from abuse. It is a very grounding stone, and very healing. It sharpens and focuses internal and external vision, and helps get in touch with buried issues before they explode. Obsidian is related to the root chakra.

The leaf is destroyed but the veins and structures of the leaf are preserved in the metal. These earrings are formed using traditional metalsmithing techniques. Over time copper will darken and become more orange in color. Clean with a silver polishing cloth.

I like to make hollow forms. The process is tedious, but I find it very calming. I cut the disks, embossed with leaf texture, dome and sand the disks, solder and drill these sweet birthstone pendants. I have the winter months covered! I did December's blue topaz (pictured), November's smoky topaz, January's garnet, February's Amethyst and Rainbow Moonstone as a wildcard, but mostly because I love the blue flash. Rainbow moonstone is very magical for me.

I love the distressed look of older, more ancient relics. This ring symbolizes sweet innocence and romance from a time gone by. When I was a little girl I remember a time when I got very sick. My mother went to the store to get some 7 -p for my sore throat and came back with 7-up and a pomegranate. I had never seen one before and it was so incredibly beautiful. I love the tough leather skin and the seeds inside were incredible to eat. Plucking out the fruit one by one carefully so I didn't rupture the jeweled fruit, kept me free from boredom that day.

This memory is one that is dear to me because it reminds me of my mother's loving care for me. I have also introduced my children to the this gorgeous fruit and they love it as well. These geometric handmade earrings are bold and artistic. They are made from sterling silver that is hammered, tumbled for strength, and have interchangeable dangles. The dangle is a genuine faceted apatite gemstone. The sterling frames are lightweight, so they won't drag your ear down. The dangles can come off and you can buy additional dangles to have a different color gemstone. You will receive this pair of sterling RHYTHM frames with apatite aqua blue gemstone.

The frames measure about 1.5 inches long while a typical dangle adds about a half of an inch to the length.

Once payment has been verified, your earrings will be promptly shipped via first class USPS mail in a gift box secured in a waterproof bubble mailer.
