Power of the Indian Stray Dog - handmade artist book

$15.00
I created both the words and images for this artists' book. The title is a play on the poem The Power of the Dog by Rudyard Kipling. The images were drawn in India ink and watercolor. They were then scanned and printed on bond paper. The book was hand bound in covers made of 100% cotton rag paper from the Handmade Paper Institute in Pune, India. Two blue stone beads accent the tied binding. This is number 8 of 10 copies.

Here is the text of the book:

The Power of the Indian Stray Dog

Look into my weary eyes
Am I not beautiful

Do not be afraid
Let me rest in your clean lap

Look into my heart
Try not to stare

My life
is not what you are
used to

Let us both accept
that which we are given

I too have
The useless power to break
your heart
