sometimes i get the urge to print on things. and then they end up in my shop!

to create the field, i drew the flowers on acetate, and then burned the image using the photo emulsion process onto a silk screen. each dish cloth is hand printed using the screen and burnt-orange ink. the ink is heat-set and will hold up to washing!

the dish cloths are TEKLA from IKEA.

this art history journal is covered with hand block-printed circles (white outlines, random orange and blue/turquoise interiors) on pages from "art in our time", published in 1939. this journal features a sculpture by aristide maillol on the front ("torso"), and charles despiau's "seated youth" on the back.

the journal is coptic bound, by hand, with orange thread, and lies flat for drawing and writing. there are 50 interior pages. the paper used within has a newsprint look.

bigger burst album - steel blue

a bigger photo album version of my burst journal with a burst design punched into the cover! the inside front cover is orange paper, and shows through the holes on the front.

the album is bound with aluminum screw posts, holding 15 off-white pages in the inside. the inside pages are 8x8 inches and there's a tissue paper protector over each page. the pages are from martha stewart crafts line, and can be purchased at michaels craft stores if you'd like to increase the pages. i will include a copy of the packaging with your order for reference.

all materials are acid-free, and meticulously picked out by me.

how do i put my photos into the album? great question! i've used a couple of adhesive options to put my photos in the albums:

1) photo corners
2) adhesive "dots", which are used a lot in the scrap-booking world
3) double-sided tape

all of the above adhesive options are easy to find at art/craft/scrap-booking supply stores. i generally try to find adhesive options that say "acid free". products with acid-like chemicals can slowly ruin your photos over a long period of time.

all materials are acid-free, and meticulously picked out by me. i came up with the design, then carefully selected the papers and book cloth that worked best to bring my vision to life.

jesse journal no. 2

i've created a series of journals using my favorite blockprinted cotton tapes from fabulous jesse breytenbach (jezze.etsy.com).

the journal could be also used as a sketch book, photo album, or scrap book. the page size is 5-1/2 wide by 7-1/2 high.

there are 28 inside pages (unlined), made with arches coldpress watercolor paper. rather than cut the paper, i use a butter knife to gently rip the paper, mimicking the original deckled edges.

the entire book is hand sewn, and bound with a cream and blue book cloth. jesse's "green and orange flowers" cotton tape appear on both the front and the back.

all materials are pH neutral and are of archival quality.
