This one-of-a-kind red-bottomed bowl is knit in lush grey and rich red 100% wool yarn. It's accented with a red stripe and red handles, and finished with four upcycled silver metal buttons (from a sweater I am felting for something else wonderful!)

The pressing area is made from a felted wool sweater over a layer of felted, woven wool. The other side is a layer of cotton muslin, dyed with fiber-reactive dyes - for lasting color and no transfer. Under the dyed muslin is upcycled muslin twill from the leg of a pair of pants that were no longer wearable. Stuffed with all those itty bitty scraps I've been holding on to. Mostly cotton and wool, some silk and polyester.

I've wanted one of these for years but was never happy with anything I saw anywhere. I wanted it to be attractive AND functional. I finally made one for myself and was so happy with it I decided to make one for you.

I've been searching for an attractive dressmakers ham for years, but I've never found anything I liked well enough to buy.

I finally made my own, and loved him so much, I decided to share.

This little piggie is made from an upcycled wool sweater and a beautiful piece of shibori, hand-dyed by me. The sweater is washed in hot water to felt up, then cut and layered with another piece of wool to form the top layer -- or pressing area -- of the ham. The bottom is made from 100% cotton, hand-dyed by me, layered with a sturdy piece of upcycled cotton twill underneath it.

He's stuffed with scraps from my sewing - mostly cotton and wool, and a little bit of silk. That means that this little guy is made almost entirely of materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

After stuffing, he's stuffed again, and again, for a satisfyingly firm ham.

He's a wonderful gift for the sewer in your life, and something that will last for generations.

The center flower is hand-knit from 100% wool yarn and stuffed with leftover wool yarn bits from my knitting. The hand-embroidered leaves are cut from a felted sweater, and the strap is made from fabric scraps sent to me my momomadeit, and lightly padded with a thin layer of cotton batting.

Hidden in the flower is an upcycled plastic support that allows you to jab pins into the flower without ever having to worry about stabbing your wrist. The strap closes with a button and elastic, making it comfortable and secure for wrists from 6" to 8". (If you need a custom size, just let me know! I'm happy to adjust it for you at no extra charge.)
