This focal point of this Carnelian and pearlescent seed bead necklace is an Austrian cherry flame quartz glass pillow measuring just over an inch (2.54 cm) in length. The necklace, including silver-plated S clasp, is just over 17 1/2" (44.45 cm).

The inclusions in the glass make me think of smoke, water and fire in the sky. :)

These are my favorite earrings! Don't be fooled by the closeups; they are very small and dainty, measuring just shy of an inch in length (about 2.2 cm). The eggs are Czech glass teardrops in opaline and the nest is antiqued bronze over base metal jumprings (same metal for the ear wire).

Cherry quartz glass briolettes and dusky rose freshwater pearls are threaded onto oxidized sterling silver and dangled from oxidized sterling silver hand-formed kidney ear-wires. These earrings are both dainty and to die for! They hang just over 3/4" (2 cm).

Splendor in the Glass

Beautiful, vivid glass and sterling silver flowers!

These earrings are quite clever, even if I do say so myself! Czech pressed glass beads are held in place by the tension created from shaping and hammering the sterling silver.

I designed the earrings out of a desire to have a set of flowers that dangled upright as a flower should. Most earrings hang with the flower upside down. Plus, I wanted the earrings to be tightly crafted, without resorting to glue or any additional element to hold he beads in place.

The flowers dangle about 1.5 inches (3.81 cm) and all components are hand-formed from sterling silver by yours truly. :)

Cool Melon

He is a slice of cool melon,
my clandestine palate cleanser,
delicious refreshment from the salt and grease
of Sunday's fried chicken
and cryptic grown-up gossip.

His fingers, long and gentle tapers, part petals,
litter the ground with yellow blossoms torn
from my slipshod daisy chain. White teeth,
luminous in the half-light of the churchyard's
magnolia shadows, gleam within bursts of words
and laughter deep enough to tranquilize,
to pull me under the starched white sheet
of Summer Afternoon, until I find myself staring
mesmerized by his working Adam's apple,
my chin in hand, elbows sunk
and my Sunday finest damply pressed between skin
and the humidity of spongy soil and sparse Bermuda
as my belly spreads flat, a palm to the earth.

My throat convulses,
hot and dry;
I imagine my first bite of cool melon.
