A touch of the outdoors - this set of blocks is covered with real white birch bark that I've painstakingly peeled into layers. This is one of the thin, papery under layers you see here - it has a warmer, amber tone. Birch bark is a bit like an onion in that it's composed of multiple fragile layers. No trees were harmed! I use only downed trees, branches and bark pieces that I come across in my hikes. Edges are inked in a woodsy sepia. Gives a nice rustic feel to the room.

*Note: these block are made to order. Please allow 2 days for completion.

This hinged wooden box is an homage to shorthand. I'm drawn to it not only because it's visually interesting, but because it's a lost skill and art... alas. This was made from an abandoned Gregg Shorthand textbook for the aspiring secretary. Paper has a light turquoise blue wash and edges are sepia-inked. On the top are silver metal stencil letters spelling "SCRIBE". Inside has an illustration of the dutiful secretary and her hovering (WAY too closely) male executive, making the business run happily and smoothly! This box will give a funky, vintage look to the office, den or on the shelf.

Measures approx. 4 1/2" square x 2 1/4" deep

A touch of the outdoors - this set of blocks is covered with real white birch bark that I've painstakingly peeled into layers. This is one of the thin, papery under layers you see here - it has a warmer, amber tone. Birch bark is a bit like an onion in that it's composed of multiple fragile layers. No trees were harmed! I use only downed trees, branches and bark pieces that I come across in my hikes. Edges are inked in a woodsy sepia. Gives a nice rustic feel to the room.
