The batik itself is 16.5"x15". The cotton ticking backing is 21"x20"

This wall hanging is one-of-a-kind batik on cotton fabric. It is ready to hang as is, but can easily be removed from the ticking for custom framing or another presentation. It is attached to cotton ticking, set off with a border of 1930's repro fabric. It has a hanging string is made from cotton string, cotton crochet string and jute twine. All the sewing is done by hand in cotton floss using big stitches for a Primitive Folk Art look.

Batik is a process of fabric dyeing that uses wax to resist the activity of dye. I dye and wax in many steps. The wax is applied when melted, but cools and can crack, allowing dye to seep into the cracks. Because the wax obscures the fabric, the final appearance of the piece after wax removal is often surprising.

Primitive is a style of new things made to look old and antique. This shirt is brand new-never worn, discharge dyed and embellished with a collage of fabric; new, hand dyed, repro and vintage. There is a lot of hand stitching for decoration, but everything is securely attached by machine, so it is there to stay. Fiberfill was used to give the Cess more dimension.

Machine wash/Tumble dry. Oh yeah, machine, that is so NOT prim, but who has time for a washboard when there is stuff to make!

EXACT MEASUREMENTS
When it is laid out flat, it measures 68" sleeve cuff to sleeve cuff, 26" across the chest arm pit to arm pit. From the back of the collar to the bottom is 26".

According to the Ancient Romans, Neptune is the God of the Sea, brother of Pluto and Jupiter. He is also the God of horses, not to mention of insanity. This is the Roman symbol for Neptune that we associate today with the eighth planet from the sun.

Primitive folk art style.

This card is the standard collector size of 3.5x2.5inches. The same as a baseball card.

It is made of fabric, stitched together with big prim stitches in cotton floss. The muslin center is stamped using a stamp I made myself from upcycled packing material. The label is graphite on nice sketchbook paper.

The whole card is plasticised to make is stiff and water resistant. And a little bit shiny.

In Ancient Greece, Uranus was the Father of the Sky and the husband of Gaia, mother of the earth. In Greek mythology, both Gaia and Uranus were decended from all the Gods.

The seventh planet of the sun, Uranus holds ten moons in his orbit.

The butt of a famous SNL joke that I never heard until I was in college. My fellow student who had to EXPLAIN it to me was rather embarrased!

This 30" wide and 17" tall row of Jacks is ready for your Halloween home. It can be used as a floor cloth or table topper. My batiks also make great window decorations because they look so great when they are lit from behind. Very luminous and awesome!

Batik on 10 oz duck, pretty heavy canvas. Treated with polyurethane for long wear and easy clean up a with damp cloth! These are great design accents and work well on the floor inside a door with low floor clearnace. They can also be used for table toppers.

Hand made batik on this heavy of a fabric looks a bit different one each side. You can see that in the pics.

The last picture shows one I have inside the front door of my home. After over a year of being walked on, often with shoes, it still looks great. Optional Latex rubber backing can be added for no extra charge, just 4 days longer.

It ships in a tube, so if it is curly when it arrives, a little while in a warm place will allow it to flattne. I put them on the picnic table outside in the sun in the San Fransisco Bay Area for 30 min or so.

Real batiked cotton broadcloth using wax to resist the procion dye, attached to 40lb watercolor paper and treated with liquid plastic for a credit card stiffness. An accent of metalic gold fabric paint highlights the hearts.

Leaves Wall Quilt, Leaves swirling in the wind on an autum day

This wall quilt is 40x45 inches.
Available on ETSY until sept 20th, it features leaves appliqued on with thread sketching representing machine quilting as an art of it's own.

It is made from high quality cotton fabric in a four patch and one patch design. Machine pieced with cotton thread and machine quilted in rayon thread of many colors. The batting is cotton.

The thread sketching in the quilting represents machine quilting as an art in it;s own right.

This quilt was juried in to Pacific International Quilt Festival and has hung in several exhibits.

This quilt was juried into Pacific International Quilt Festival, as well as Piecemakers Quilt Guild Show and was featured at Ohlone Arts during the Mission San Jose Outdoor Quilt Show that same year. For sale Milpitas artist.

It reminds me of ice cream cones. I saw a picture of a quilt made by Virginia America Stover around the turn of the century. I couldn't find out anything about her except that she had made the quilt. In spite of that, or because of that, I wanted to make a carpenter's wheel quilt. If she knew her quilt would inspire another quilter 100 years later, what would she have thought?

Even though inspired by an old quilt, my quilt was made in 2005 and I felt free to use modern materials and methods. 30s reproduction fabrics give it that "Grandma's Quilt" look, though they are more modern than Virginia's quilt. 'Blendable' cotton thread quilting on the top and back finishes it well. Quilt shop quality cotton fabrics with cotton batting, 94"x87" with a sleeve for hanging if you want to put it on your wall. Machine wash, tumble dry, it comes new pillow case.

All of my textile art comes from a smoke free home. Each item is carefully inspected by The Cat Patrol before shipment.
