Time has transformed the shell of a living creature into a beautiful stone with open chambers containing tiny crystals. This ancient prehistoric fossil is a real treasure. I used several types and sizes of beautiful beads to stitch around the edges of the stone, contrasting opaque and sparkling beads to accent the crystalized sections. I handcrafted this beautiful bead embroidered shell leaf necklace. Bead embroidery is very labor intensive. I take great care in selecting and handstitching each bead in place. The pendant is a natural shell carved into a leaf design, completed by rows and swirls of colorful beads. The necklace includes larger round glass beads and glass leaves using many different colors and sizes to create an organic look to the finished piece. It measures 24" around and has a goldtone security clasp (see photos). The pendant is 2" wide and 4" long. On the back is a soft white fabric.

I handcrafted this beautiful bead embroidered shell feather necklace. Bead embroidery is very labor intensive. I take great care in selecting and handstitching each bead in place. The pendant is a natural dark and light colored shell carved into a feather or leaf design, completed by five rows of seed beads and 22 fringes. The necklace includes a variety of glass beads, ten cultured freshwater pearls (some are color enhanced), using many different colors and sizes of beads to create an organic look to the finished piece. It measures 23" around and has a fingernail friendly silvertone security clasp (see photos if me opening a gold tone clasp on another necklace to learn how to operate this type of clasp). The pendant is 2" wide and 3.5" long and includes multistrands of hand beaded fringe. On the back is a soft white fabric. I used multistrand coated wire and crimp beads to string the necklace.

A Very Beautiful, Unique Necklace

I learned how to bead embroider a few years ago and since then I have worked on creating dramatic one-of-a-kind designs. This necklace began with a large natural chunk of raw amethyst. I used several sizes and shades of purple beads to peyote stitch/wrap around the edges of the stone and several large stone and glass beads to add dramatic effect. The necklace is about 13" long from casp to pendant, 26" around, and the pendant is 2 1/4" long. This is a fairly heavy stone.

The necklace is beaded on coated multistrand wire made by Aculon and the clasp is a silver tone fish style security clasp (see example photos taken of me operating a golden tone clasp). The back is covered by a soft dark purple fabric.
