SALE Vintage Curtain II spinning batts

$15.30
FUZZ!

These beautiful mini batts are handcarded of merino wool top, faux cashmere (nylon,) mohair locks, icicle, angelina fiber, and some bamboo. The gorgeous turquoise and orange mohair locks in these batts were from etsy seller Fiberfancy. The main colors in these batts are a turquoise blue, orange, and two different greens on a base of white. I was desperate for color combos again and sat in the studio until I went OH DUH! I have some fabulous curtains hanging right beside me with some lovely colors already picked out! Combined they weigh 2.95 oz. and would be lovely for a spinning project but would probably not felt well due to the nature of the nylon (faux cashmere) as it makes up approximately 30 percent of this batt set. Needle felting would probably not be out of the question though, and certainly not the many other fiber applications that could be used on these lovely wool babies.

Thanks for looking!

www.myspace.com/bricolagestudios
www.bricolagestudios.blogspot.com

It is mostly a sage green with hints of red, white, and brown.

I will ship anywhere, please convo. me to get accurate shipping for anywhere outside the U.S. before making payment.

Thanks for looking!
The gorgeous yellow mohair locks in these batts are from etsy seller Fiberfancy. The main colors in these batts green, yellow, blue, cinnabar red, and a spicy orange with a base of white. The sugary overtones created from the angelina and icicle really make these batts look like their sour sugar candy namesake. These batts were blended two to three times on my carder (two of them twice, one three times just to shake things up a bit.) If you would like the other two to be blended just ask but I wanted to leave them in their chaotic state, I'm not normally a more than once blender type of girl but these screamed to not be so stripey. Combined they weigh 2.85 oz. and would be lovely for a spinning project, felting, or various other fiber art applications.

Thanks for looking!

www.myspace.com/bricolagestudios
www.bricolagestudios.blogspot.com

I plied the resulting single with some fabulous commercial yarn from a cone my mom found me at an estate sale of a fiber artist. It is a beautiful lustrous white yarn with a shiny gold strand through it. Combined this makes for one magical yarn! It is mostly wool and therefore will felt so wash your finished product in cool water if you don't want that to happen! :)

76 yards here for your stitching/hooking/felting/gift giving pleasure!

Thanks for looking!

www.bricolagestudios.blogspot.com
www.flickr.com/bricolagestudios

While I have made them before, I suddenly couldn't get them out of my head!

The 'cushion' portion was needle felted from a very nice wool in a little dome and then embroidered into it's little pillow home sewn from a fabulous vintage patchwork pattern fabric I scored at an estate sale this past summer. It is stuffed with rice for weight a bit of lavender for a soothing, subtle smell. The felted cushion is secured with an embroidered blanket stitch in a contrasting color to the cushion.

This cushion is about 3"x3" and pins are included just as pictured! :)

Please Note: The jar of buttons is not included with this little cushion.

Thanks for looking!

www.bricolagestudios.blogspot.com
www.flickr.com/bricolagestudios

His head barely makes it an inch high from the ground and he is only about 3.5 inches in length but he's full of spirit. As far as I can tell he is a "painted" turtle because there are all kinds of splotches in that shell of his. He'd love to come home to anyone that needs a good giggle, as his hair is constantly a mess.

All my little felted creatures start as a lump of wool that I poke until a specific creature takes shape in my head (much like cloud watching and figuring out that the one over yonder looks like a dragon.) I then finish off the overall shape with the personality so you can see it too. They are meant purely for silly purposes to keep you company where ever you need a slight chuckle now and again.

I will ship anywhere, please convo. me to get accurate shipping for anywhere outside the U.S. before making payment.

Thanks for looking!

The wool used was a blend of 50/50 wool/alpaca from Defecta Farms in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I have bought their wool a few times at the Chelsea Fiber Festival and have yet to be less than thrilled with their products.

This wool was mostly white with a bit of a lovely pinkish red and a nice darker cornflower blue blended throughout. I spun this as a single and then plied it with a commercial lace weight white merino.

There are 65 yds in this skein and from the photos you can see that this a fairly evenly spun yarn, just little "human" errors and no funny business. I personally am a big fan of funny business but even that gets boring after a while without anything to break it up all that slubby goodness. =)

Thanks for looking!

www.bricolagestudios.blogspot.com
www.myspace.com/bricolagestudios

The angelina is from loop.etsy.com and the mohair from fiberfancy.etsy.com

These batts were inspired by this wonderful dive a restaurant around the corner from me. I remember eating at their other location as a little kid and that they had the absolute best french fries. That location has long since been razed and replaced by a walgreen's BUT, the legacy lives on. Joe and I really wanted some chili dogs the other day so we wandered in and gazed around the decor which has not been updated since the 70's. It is fantastic and I had to make some batts to match the colors. :) These batts are going to be a limited repeatable batts if you need more just convo. me and I'll see what I can do. :)

The main colors in these batts are a dijon yellow green, three different colors of yellow, burnt orange, and a nice nutmeg brown. No white in this one folks, all delightful Combined they weigh 3 oz. and would be lovely for a spinning project, felting, or various other fiber art applications.

PLEASE NOTE
Due to the fact that these batts are made to order the textures will vary slightly despite using the exact same materials. Really I think that's half the fun though. :)

Thanks for looking!

www.myspace.com/bricolagestudios
www.bricolagestudios.blogspot.com

It is created from a coil of hand felted wool that was then woven like the beginnings of a basket done in a coil method using copper wire. It is then securely attached to a hammered copper backing with a nice sterling silver tube rivet. It hangs on a handmade stainless steel chain by a sterling silver bail.

This color way was needle felted into a small coil so the colors are much more blended but still clearly rainbow. It is approx. 18 in. in length with the clasp but links could be added or taken out upon request should it be necessary.

Thanks for looking!

www.bricolagestudios.blogspot.com
www.flickr.com/bricolagestudios

I finally got a few of these guys finished but be on the look out for more soon!

These spinning packs are meant to be a jumping off point for your creativity in making an art yarn. They are filled with various ingredients to make your very own art yarn. This pack contains strips of fabric ripped from a vintage sheet in various lengths and widths, 5 handmade pom poms created from a single of my own handspun that are approximately 1 3/8", some thread remnants from ripping the sheets, and finally two hand pulled roving balls lovingly blended of merino, angelina, and mohair locks (etsyseller fiberfancy) on my hackle. Colors in this set are orange, yellow, green, brown, and white.

This pack is approximately 1.6 oz. of supplies to be added into whatever spinning arsenal you have on hand. This pack also includes a few extra bits of fabric that I tossed in which are not included in the weight or price.

Leave the fabrics strips long and spin them right in, cut em' shorter and use them as bowties, the sky is the limit with these fun little packs.

While the pom poms are a bit larger and could only be spun right in if your wheel is equipped with a larger orifice (mine is not sadly) they could also be sewn in after spinning or used in a finished project. Be on the look out those of you who have a smaller orifice, I just acquired the teeny tiny pom pom makers and will be making lots of them and they do fit through a "standard" orifice, I tried it out already. :)

This and all other packs are a what you see is what you get unless otherwise noted. So whatever is in the picture is exactly what you will receive.

Thanks for looking!

www.bricolagestudios.blogspot.com
www.myspace.com/bricolagestudios
