This brooch has a bold yet elegant sweep, with opposing leaves woven in taupe, silver and iridescent bronze "three-cut" faceted Czech glass seed beads, and a border of jet black charlotte cut microbeads. Once again the structure arises solely from the weaving of needle and thread, and the design evolved organically as I worked. The centerpiece is a cluster of bronze freshwater pearls. It measures approxiamtely 2" wide by 4" long.

Sizzling citrines shine, framed in spirals of sterling silver twisted wire. These spectacular gemstone chunks are untreated, with natural inclusions and refractions, and bits of rainbow flash here and there; next to your skin they're cool as ice. Sleek and ultra-modern, this necklace works equally well at the office or on the town, and with its marriage of gold and silver transcends the seasons to shine year 'round.

One of these days I'll get a fancy scale to measure carats, but in the meantime I can tell you the stones are 1 to 1 1/4" long, 1/2" to 5/8" wide, and 1/4" thick: substantial enough to make a statement without weighing you down.

The centerpiece measures 4" across and 2 1/4" deep, with 7" of glittering sterling silver figure-8 chain on either side, finished with a secure lobster clasp and 3" of golden Swarovski crystal chain links to adjust from 17" to 20" altogether.

I've made matching earrings, which are included with the necklace, since these stones are unique. They are 2" long on sterling leverbacks with golden crystals above the framed citrines. If you only wish to purchase the necklace, I'll be happy to reduce the price accordingly and sell them separately.

Vintage French copper "three-cut" faceted seed beads are what make these woven earrings really glisten. The subtle tones of mauve, bronze and copper come together in the drops of handmade lampwork glass beads lined with silver foil. Tiny 3mm tanzanite Swarovski crystals and copper luster Czech crystal provide the finishing touches.

These are woven in the Native American Comanche, or brick, stitch, like the majority of my woven seed beadwork. They also have a subtle curvature to each "petal", because I used larger seed beads in the center of each petal and smaller ones at the outer edges, pulling the thread snug with each stitch. Even the large glass drops are softly faceted, in a subtle diamond shape. They measure about 3 1/4" including the Niobium earwires.

The Storm Moon is the masculine, active aspect of the Capricorn Moon - the first moon after the Winter Solstice, the darkest day of the year. They say it is darkest before the dawn, and most of us would rather hibernate this time of year. It is a time to seek shelter from the elements, to huddle or cuddle close to loved ones, or for some of us, it is a time to turn inward and listen for that still, small voice.
I love winter, and storms, and for me darkness is exciting, full of mystery, and potential: the unknown is not frightening but full of possibilities. It can also be restful, and I can look forward to emerging from the darkness with renewed energy, awareness, and purpose. It is the dreamtime, and I often arise from sleep with visions of new designs, or ideas about how to construct the designs I've dreamed up: it's as if I've tapped a hidden well, the river of the subconscious flowing deep below the surface, impervious to any disturbance from without.

So use this talisman to draw down the magic of the Storm Moon: dark but not dreary, restful and pregnant with possibilites...
I used a vintage bronze disk with a cloudy patina to embody the Storm Moon, and sterling silver bands of jagged clouds swirling around it, along with hematite chips and beads. Hematite is a powerful grounding stone, to keep your spirit from getting lost in the darkness and enhance optimism, dissolving negativity and facilitating adaptability. The finishing touch is a sterling silver charm for protection!

Hypersthene has this magnetic attraction for me...it forms deep in the earth, in tremendous heat and pressure. It is not quite black, but a dark, dark brown that glistens like mink (I'm into animals, not furs, people). My favorite stones have lots of chatoyancy, reflecting shades of pink champagne and bronze, sometimes in bold stripes, sometimes in patches, sometimes all over like a glowing woodgrain.

I made these to match one of my favorite blouses, a tribal pattern in pale amethyst and dark umber, with bits of fuchsia, pink and bronze threads running through it.

These are 14karat gold-filled hand-twisted wire and beads with Swarovski crystals and french earwires, almost 3" long. I'm working on a series inspired by this fabric, necklaces, bracelets, and more earrings to follow...

Just like Maine blueberries, these pearls are simply glowing, nestled amongst the golden brambles in this stunning bracelet. Wear it all summer, and into fall, especially with this year's luxe golden fabrics and rich jewel tones.

I can reproduce this design with cranberry pearls, traditional white or cream pearls, or a rich coppery bronze, with golden brambles, sterling silver, or patinated silver in dark tones for a dramatic contrast to lighter colored pearls.

Beehive Necklace

These lampwork glass beads are shimmering with copper and silver swirls that remind me of little beehives. I used 18 gauge sterling silver square wire to form the links to beautiful brushed silver disks for an ultra-modern look with a bit of edge. Braided jump rings combined with 3mm sterling beads frame each glass bead, with a sterling figure-8 chain and handmade spiraling sterling silver "S" clasp, easy for right or left handers.

The glass beads are about 1/2" diameter and 1" long, and the brushed silver disks are about 3/4" across. The necklace is 17" all around but I can easily add a bit of chain, adjusting the fit to order.

Luscious blueberry pearls glow against golden brambles - despite the fact that blueberries don't really grow on brambles, but why let a little reality spoil a perfect picture?

Silver Medal Winner for Wirework, Fire Mountain Gems 2008!

A dazzling corona of hand-twisted sterling silver spirals brings out all the colors of the rainbow in these iridescent cultured Biwa pearls. I used a sturdy nickel silver brooch clasp, completely hidden by the silver and pearls. There is no backing or mount - the shape arises organically from the interwoven spirals of silver wire, anchored by the pearls.
The pearls and silver spirals are 3/4" to an inch wide, and the brooch measures about 2 1/2" diameter altogether.

*No two pearls are alike, so each brooch will vary slightly!

I can make these in sterling or gold-filled, for about the same price; or 14karat solid gold at market prices.
I have gorgeous iridescent gold Biwa pearls in the same size as these, as well as smaller red "Chili Pepper" Biwas, and petite white Biwa pearls. I also have some in a stunning, softly iridescent dove grey, which are 20% larger, making the brooch about 3" in diameter overall.

These sparkling, woven earrings are made with Czech "three-cut" seed beads in shades of bronze and cobalt blue iris with a subtle translucent blue-green shadowing the inside edges of each leaf. They are woven with needle and thread in my favorite brick stitch technique, and each leaf is slightly curved as if they just unfurled. They're suspended on curving tendrils dotted with teeny tiny peacock, seafoam and capri blue iridescent Swarovski crystals.

Like dancing figures, this necklace is very graceful. Beautiful iridescent Biwa pearls, framed by faceted amethyst and gold rondelles, join hands with swirls of 14karat gold-filled wire sandwiched by glowing blueberry pearls. The colors are rich and vibrant, with iridescent shades of violet, blue, green and gold, a perfect segue from summer into fall.

It began as something purely abstract, but as the pattern emerged in the circle I couldn't shake the image of dancing figures. Imagine my surprise, after posting this series of photos on Flickr, when I got an email from Kodak with a picture echoing my necklace, of dancers at the North Pole, taken by world-renowned photo journalist Peter Guttman! Lightning Sprite Necklace

Dichroic glass beauties inspired this necklace. Fiery strands of gold are shaded with orange and luminescent green, like witch fire, against streaks of iridescent blue on black. They conjure visions of the night sky, lit above the clouds by ethereal strands of colored lightning reaching toward the stars - what scientists now call lightning sprites.
Airline pilots have known about them for years, but rarely reported sightings for fear of being labeled. Now they are a little known but accepted phenomenon that few of us will ever get to see, first documented in 1989. For me it is yet another example of the wondrous and magical powers of Nature, and the potential for discovery and revelation that still exists for us in the here and now... not just across the universe, far, far away, but right here, close to home!

I used Japanese hex twist beads and czech glass three-cuts to weave the centerpiece in my favorite brick stitch, with rainbow and pale green crystals at the very tip. The spiralings strands of glass beads are dotted with sparkling Swarovski crystals, gathered just above the dichroic glass using 14karat goldfilled corrugated rounds to create the three dimensional effect of colored streams of light, spiraling towards the stars...

The centerpiece is 4 1/2" wide and 4" deep, including the dichroic glass beads, which are 3/4" in diameter and 1/2" throught the axis, and the necklace measures 16" all around, including the vintage brass cones gathering the bead strands into a handmade 14karat goldfilled fancy hammered spiral clasp. I can easily adjust the length, or clasp, to adjust the fit for any woman.

Pearl Bramble Bracelet

Perfect pearls to take you into fall, iridescent violet with splashes of dark olive green and a hint of russet! I love these so much I don't want to use them up, even though I've made several pairs of earrings that match, each a little different.

Luscious iridescent violet coin pearls gleam against spiraling hand-twisted 14 karat gold-filled wire, accented with beautiful, juicy 8mm amethyst gemstone beads. Natural, faceted "hex" cut amethyst gemstones really glow in contrast with twisted sterling silver wire finished with a rich dark patina.
These amethysts have not been dyed or heat-treated, simply beautifully cut to enhance the natural light within the stone. They are a full 1/2" in diameter and 3/8" thick. Tiny amethyst rondelles accent the chain just below french earwires, for a total length of 2 1/2 inches.

Scorpio - Mourning Moon Magical Talisman

The Mourning Moon and the Snow Moon are the two complementary aspects of the Scorpio Moon, according to ancient Celtic lore. The Mourning Moon is the feminine aspect, as the days grow shorter and the sun's life-giving fires are banked. Sometimes it seems so dark we feel the light will never return, but this moon is a reminder that death is just a part of the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth.
At the center is a smooth disk of shimmering hypersthene, a gemstone formed deep within the earth, under intense pressure and unimaginable heat. This stone is often found around volcanoes, and in meteorites from the depths of outer space. Its surface has a subtle pattern like woodgrain, with a gleaming violet iridescence called chatoyancy. It is said to put people at ease, and help us connect on spiritual and astral planes.
A soft patina colors the sterling silver corona around the Moon, with shimmering Heliotrope Swarovski crystals reflecting the smoky violet tones of the gemstone. A diamond-cut pewter owl keeps a watchful eye below.

This necklace is a showstopper...and a bit of a private (hic!) joke.
It all started when I saw a poster at Coffee by Design, a call for erotic art, the edgier the better. For some reason I have a very hard time taking most erotic "art" seriously, it seems pretentious or pained, or both. At the time I was making Christmas tree ornaments, and I suddenly had a vision, and a thought: the vision was my Golden Christmas Tree, upended, and the thought was, "Fire Down Below", which got me giggling. So here's the first! Beautiful white Biwa pearls in a tapering band of golden spirals framing a stunning cultured pearl drop. The centerpiece is 5" long from tip to tip, about 3" across, and 1" wide along the widest part. A pair of creamy white pearls accents 14karat gold-filled figure-8 chain, leading to an easy "S" clasp, about 17" long altogether. I can easily add a length of chain to make it adjustable if you like. This necklace looks especially stunning on a woman of color; my friend Mia said she'll model it for me one day soon. Sparkling chardonnay quartz briolettes are surrounded by ruby red marquis-cut Kashmir garnets, petite bronze rice pearls, hessonite garnet rondelles and teeny tiny tiger eye and garnet beads, all the colors of autumn leaves.

They glisten as though the sun just broke free after a shower, amid golden boughs. The centerpiece is 3" deep and 3" across, joined to a glittering 14karat gold-filled figure-8 chain with dark red and deep orange hessonite garnet links, with two petite clusters of pearl and garnet on each side.
The necklace measures 16" all around including my handmade spiral "S" clasp, easy for right- or left-handers, with 4" of garnet and gold links to adjust up to 20".

Another Fire Mountain Gems Finalist!

Here's the original, my pearl bracelet with a twist (or several, actually!). These are cultured freshwater pearls, including the diamond shaped pearls, offset by luxurious swirls of hand-twisted gold-filled wire. This bracelet measures about 7 1/2" long with a small lobster clasp, but I can make them ay length. This magnificent Celtic Moon talisman is the perfect symbol to draw down the power of the Virgo harvest moon. With its feminine companion, the sparkling Wine Moon, they embody the riches of the harvest as summer draws to a close at the September Equinox.

Gleaming arcs of 14karat gold-filled wire are gathered above and below the golden sickle moon at the center, a lampwork glass bead speckled with colored dust, like the autumn sky. The moon appears larger this time of the year, and seems to be on fire, because we see it through the haze of dust in the earth's lower atmosphere.

I used vintage golden glass beads to tip the twelve sheaves of grain, with bronze crystal teardrops and natural Mother-of-Pearl above and below, sacred to the Goddess. The solid brass diamond charm at the bottom has nine diamonds symbolizing the nine fertile months of the year.

My Barley Moon Talisman is a little over 4" across and 5 1/2" long. I plan to do a silver incarnation, with white Mother-of-Pearl; and look for the Virgo Wine Moon in the next few days. This ring features the stunning blue-green aurora borealis Swarovski crystals, known as "Peacock" to some, but they are really a jet crystal with a double aurora borealis coating. They are an electric contrast to the silky strands of liquid silver beads, gathered together in a diamond shaped medallion set with marcasite. This is a size 7 or 7 1/2.

I can reproduce this ring in any size, any color, with Swarovski crystals or even tiny pearls, and I can match it to any of the other items in my Stardust series: necklaces, earrings, or bracelets.

These are one of the few designs I've repeated: but these are the original. Shades of blue and green glass seed beads in different sizes are framed by faceted bronze "threecut" seed beads; each segment has a slight curvature created by using larger beads in the center of each petal. I used vintage Bermuda Blue Aurora Borealis Swarovski crystals for the drops, and a mix of crystals above and below, with 14karat gold-filled beads and french earwires; about 2 1/2" long altogether.
I did a few smaller pairs of earring leading up to these, and I'm finishing up the series with a matching brooch...haven't decided which beads to use for accents: crystals, briolettes, a mix? Hmmm...

Another tongue-in-cheek design, the second in a new series. This gracefully curvy necklace features red hot (dyed) Biwa pearls, 14karat rose gold-filled wire, and ruby red Swarovski crystals sprinkled along the chain to an easy "S" clasp.
The name is a little joke, since the design was inspired in part by a call for erotic art, which I have a hard time taking seriously. Several other bits of wordplay sprang to mind, so I think there's a few more variations still to come...:)

These are made with the most amazing russet/rose luster beads: faceted "hex cut" Japanese Delica glass seed beads, with diagonal bands of pure green, blue and violet iris three-cut seed beads. Tiny iridescent peacock Swarovski crystals shine above smooth, translucent little garnet ovals on the sharp, trim fringe. These are fantastic colors to go with this fall's jewel-toned fashions.

They're woven in the Native American Comanche, or brick, stitch, and they are sleek and smooth rather than curved like much of my work. The fringe is cropped so it doesn't swing about, but stays in place. They're about 2 1/2" long, on Niobium earwires.

These magical talismans can be used to draw down the power of the Moon, and strengthen the energy you seek as it passes through each sign roughly twice every month. Each one is rich in symbolism, including mystical gemstones, genuine pearls, and special charms.

Snowflake Holiday Heirloom Brooch

A holiday treasure: creamy perfection, edged in brilliant blue like the sky after a snowstorm, and brown bark glittering with frost...or brown bricks, like so much of downtown Portland! I took these pictures last winter, and included a few other pieces in these colors: my Stardust ring, and my Christmas Tree Ornament, on sale at my sister site, ChristmasOrnaments.Etsy.com...just a few of my favorite things.

This snowflake brooch starts with a single creamy cultured pearl, ringed with glass seed beads: a band of tiny charlottes, vintage faceted "three-cuts" in a cream luster and pure French copper glaze, as well as bright turquoise and dark blue iris. I've always loved blue and brown, and this is one my favorites. The points are tipped with tiny bronze pearls and 3mm Swarovski crystals.

This necklace is a variation I created to go with my Blueberry Bramble bracelet and earrings, a really elegant combination that makes a perfect segue from summer into fall, with the rich golden spirals and jewel tones to accent fall fashions.

Each segment of golden spirals is about an inch wide, and the Biwa "stick" pearls are 1/4" wide and 3/4" long. The necklace includes about three inches of chain with tiny amethysts to extend from 16" to 19" altogether, finished with a lobster clasp. I've also made a necklace with Blueberry pearls in place of the amethysts, for a bolder, darker look.

Spiral-cut amethyst briolettes and ruby red marquis-cut garnet briolettes are dripping from hand-twisted spirals of sterling silver wire, accented with petite garnets and heliotrope crystals. Heliotrope and garnet crystals nestle in sterling silver florets atop amazingly lustrous grey pearls measuring about 1/2" across and 3/8" deep.
Swarovski crystals and smooth garnet gemstone beads accent the sterling silver figure 8 chain, measuring 16" at the sterling lobster clasp and up to 19" with the garnet and silver extension.

Vintage copper and bronze three-cut Czech glass seed beads are woven in flaring curves, edged with matte black contemporary glass. Dark bronze faceted Czech fire-polished crystals sparkle in the strands gathered on either side, with a solid copper hook and eye clasp.

Art Deco Chalcedony Column Earrings

Creamy green chalcedony gemstone briolettes are framed by woven glass seed beads, using just needle and thread. I designed this Art Deco column motif when I was first learning beadweaving, using the peyote stitch. They didn't make briolettes back then, and I've been thinking about adapting it to use with my briolettes for a while. I used brick stitch in the diamond sections to anchor the fluid peyote, so it tapers gracefully toward the stones.

The August Etsy Beadweavers Team Challenge was Art Deco, so it was time to give it a try. I made the adjacent necklace first, and then these earrings, using silver lined dark bronze Japanese Delica seed beads with opaque matte seafoam glass Delicas and creamy, translucent green chalcedony.

The columns are 7/8" wide at the bottom, the stones are 5/8" long and almost 1/2" wide; with the anodized bronze Niobium earwires they are 3" long altogether.

*** Niobium is super hypoallergenic, like Titanium, but I can easily substitute sterling silver or 14karat gold-filled earwires at no charge if you like!***

Art Deco Smoky Quartz Necklace

I dream of Egypt in the moonlight...
Vintage Art Deco motifs woven with Japanese glass Delica seed beads form the perfect setting for these stunning, uniquely faceted smoky quartz gemstones. They were just waiting for the perfect design to enter my mind, and at the end of July I found my inspiration:

I created this design expressly for the Etsy Beadweavers August Team Challenge, "Art Deco". But for quite a while I've been wanting to use this motif with my gemstone briolettes. I created the columnar pattern over 20 years ago, when I was first taught peyote stitch. Briolettes were unheard of back then, and I soon discovered that brick stitch allowed me to create more complex designs that held their shape; peyote stitch is very fluid. The diamond motifs anchoring the columns are a combination of peyote in line with the column and brick stitch at the edges, so the necklace drapes beautifully from the band of diamonds.

The largest stone is almost an inch long and 3/4" wide, the columns are 7/8" wide at the bottom and 3 to 4 inches long at the center. I used galvanized silver faceted hex beads with galvanized bronze, gold luster amethyst, and silver lined bronze seed beads to create some depth and bring out the dark and light tones in the smoky quartz gemstones. Dark bronze Czech crystals are combined with "Tabac" Swarovski crystals, sterling silver beads, and little cushion cut smoky quartz beads around the neck, reaching 17 1/2" to the sterling lobster clasp, with another 3 1/2" adjustable chain on the end.

I'll be making a pair of earrings to match, identical in design to the green and bronze pair with chalcedony in the adjacent listing. I can duplicate the woven design in many colors with all sorts of gemstone briolettes but we'll never see these gorgeous smoky quartz stones again, and I only had 2 matches pairs on the strand. I'll use the others on pendants sometime soon.

Prairie Pearl Necklace

This ultra modern necklace is reminiscent of Praire style architecture, austere but beautifully constructed. I was having one of my Van Gogh days, feeling stupid and useless (thankfully it always passes), when I suddenly saw how to build it: it's been on my mind for some time.

I used bright white cultured Biwa pearls, framed by hand twisted spirals of sterling silver wire, and suspended smooth pearls drops from each frame. They descend like steps, each segment suspended from the last, from the hammered bar chain.
In a straight line, those seven segments measure 5" across, which is really a third of the overall length if you measure the arc.
I used a sterling lobster clasp, with little over 3" of adjustable chain links alternating with small round pearls, so it goes from 16 1/2" up to 20".

I've made matching earrings, sold separately, and a stunning bracelet in which the Biwa pearl segments lie in a dramatic diagonal pattern around the wrist; it lies flat in the photo, which doesn't do it justice!

Eleven curving arches are woven with lustrous cream-colored vintage Czech glass three-cut beads, with bands of dark, dark bronze and translucent blood red three-cuts, and tiny jet black frosted glass beads, in the Native American off-loom brick stitch technique.

The center beads were a flea market find, scavenged from a necklace. Both are about 3/4" in diameter, with a variety of smaller Swarovski crystals along the axis of my "moon". She is framed by a halo of hand-twisted sterling silver wire, like wisps of cloud blowing in the North Wind.

Midnight magic!

Cobalt blue iridescent seed beads are framed by glossy black charlottes, highlighted by 24 karat gold electroplated charlottes and shadowed by antique gold faceted seed beads. Woven in brick stitch using just needle and thread, this elegant and dramatic design was inspired by the Art Nouveau brooch/hairpiece I designed for my friend Kelly's wedding.

Vintage blue iridescent Czech crystals accent the points, with 24 karat gold accented Swarovski crystals at the center, with jet black crystals.

Garnets and russet muscovite gemstones accent the rich fall colors of my vintage glass beads, woven in a fleur-de-lis. The faceted oval cushion-cut gemstone bead at the bottom is a beautiful rusty rose color, about 1/2" wide and 3/4" long, semi-sheer with veins of darker red and sparkling inclusions, like the copper flecks found in aventurine and many feldspars.

I used vintage three-cut beads lined with salmon pink at the heart of my fleur-de-lis petals, with bronze three-cut seed beads and smooth, sheer rust colored ceylon seed beads for the border. Woven in brick stitch using just needle and thread, each petal has a slight curvature arising organically from the structure of the pattern I've created.

The fleur-de-lis has been one of my favorite motifs for many years, in many variations. These earrings are 3" long on 14 karat gold-filled french earwires, and 1 3/4" wide. One of my favorite things about woven earrings is that you can make a statement with bold designs without dragging your earlobes to the ground - these are very lightweight!

Pretty Pearl Spiral Necklace

Art Deco Fan Brooch

I adapted the subtle pattern woven in this brooch from an Art Deco textile design. This piece is composed almost entirely of Japanese glass Delica and microbeads with a matte glass finish; only the darker beige is a glossy finish in contrast.
You may not notice at first, but each segment of this brooch has a slightly different pattern sculpted at the edge. The entire piece has a subtle curvature as well. Again, the structure arises solely from the weaving of needle and thread using the off-loom Native American Comanche, or "brick" stitch. It measures about 3 1/2" tall by 4" wide.

I also made a long "rope" necklace you can wear this on, flapper-style, using the matte black Delica seed beads accented with natural beige howlite, taupe and jet black faceted Czech crystal, and sterling silver with a smoky quartz cabochon box clasp. It is approximately 38" long, sold separately.

These chandelier earrings are woven in the off-loom Native American Comanche, or brick, stitch. I used "three-cut" faceted Czech glass seed beads surrounded by tiny champagne rocailles and purple luster beads. Vintage amethyst Swarovski crystals, Czech crystals and speckled mauve glass drops lined with silver foil provide the finishing touches.

The body of these earrings have a soft curvature, imparted by the use of larger beads in the center and small beads around them, pulled snug while I'm weaving. I always use a doubled Nymo (synthetic) thread for strength. The earwiresa are the super-hypoallergenic Niobium in a soft purple finish, with my trademark 2mm sterling bead accents. They are almost 2 1/2 inches long.

Silky bands of luminescent color illuminate these dark, dark gemstones. Hypersthene is a variation of enstatite horneblende, in the same family as bronzite, a very dense mineral often found in volcanic flows and in meteorites, formed under intense pressures, in the depths of the earth. It's only fitting that hypersthene is a powerful grounding stone associated with the Root Chakra, and is ruled by Aries, the sign of beginnings. You can overcome shyness in emotional expression and create harmony in social situations, and give your self-esteem a lift too!

These shimmering gemstones have a subtle, pearly luster in dark violet tones, called pleiochroism. And I've paired them with my favorite Swarovski crystals, smoky silver with a violet flash called Heliotrope, inside sterling silver spirals about 5/8" across. With the stones, about 3/4" long, the center strand is 4" long. The necklace will fill a deep decollete, suspended from bands of sterling bound in a simple V, with little crystals along the sterling rollo chain and extra links of crystal to adjust up to 22", so it can be worn over a bateau neck or sweater dress.

Dark Star and Vintage Silver Swarovski Moon Earrings

This is one of my favorite motifs, with some of my favorite colors. Inspired by a sequined couture dress in subtle shades of violet and brown, with flashes of turquoise, the centerpiece of my dark star is a vintage tanzanite Swarovski hex crystal with an aurora borealis finish, woven with cornflower blue and taupe lined three-cut seed beads, as well as dark bronze iridescent microbeads. Woven with nymo thread in my favorite Native American brick stitch technique, it is difficult to capture in a photo the three dimensional curve of each ray of the star, but that dimensional quality is a hallmark of my woven work.

The giant silver vintage Swarovski Moon is unique - it was ridiculously expensive, or I would've bought the few others the dealer had. I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but somehow it is the perfect accompaniment to my dark star. I have other crystal moons the same size, but they are clear crystal with aurora borealis, and the color slides toward a tropical mix of sunset colors that look better with a lighter, brighter mix. I can reproduce this motif in a tropical color combination with ease.

So this Dark Star earring set is completely unique. I tried silver earwires with it, but for some reason it looked better with the anodized Niobium accented with 14karat goldfilled beads, and I used small tanzanite Swarovski crystals in a little link above the Star and Moon. The Star is about 1 1/2" in diameter and 1 3/4" long altogether, and the Moon is 3/4" across and 1 1/4" long plus 1" for the little crystal and earwire.

Reminiscent of turn-of-the-century splendor, this necklace is fit for a princess, with a splash of vibrant color in contrast to the old-fashioned sterling silver and marcasite medallions.
Gossamer strands of liquid silver sparkle with rose luster and fuchsia Swarovski crystals, gathering in graceful curves through the sterling silver Maltese medallion in the center. Below, layers of silver foil inside a stunning vintage Czech glass drop create a magical, shimmering effect in shades of deep rose. Delicate, glittering figure-8 chain flows from the diamond shaped medallions at the sides. The chain is punctuated by more crystals, extending to 16 1/2" with an extra 3 1/2" to comfortably fit any woman.

I've made a bracelet, earrings and ring to match, sold separately; but the vintage rose drop is one of a kind, although I can reproduce this design using gemstones or pearls, vintage or American art glass in different colors.

The earrings, rings and bracelet can be reproduced in crystals in every color of the rainbow, or in white, pink, or iridescent grey pearls, and I have enough on hand to festoon a passel of bridesmaids. Don't hesitate to contact me for custom orders!

This piece is made primarily with Czech glass three-cut faceted seeds beads, along with Japanese glass seed beads woven in the Native American Comanche, or "brick" stitch. Its structure arises solely from the weaving of needle and thread, without the use of backing, mounts or glue.

As with many of my woven pieces, this one grew and evolved organically as I worked, without premeditation. I also see echoes of the ancient Egyptian lotus, althought the leaves are different. Perhaps I'll try a lotus variation...

Amethyst Double Spiral Earrings

These amethyst rondelles really shine, an intense shade of purple offset by cool spirals of hand twisted sterling silver wire, and sterling silver beadcaps set with marcasite. I used the new Argentium sterling silver wire, which is virtually tarnish free. It also seems to have a softer shine than standard sterling silver, for a more vintage look.

These are about 2 1/2" long on french earwires. The matching necklace is a finalist in this year's Fire Mountain Gems contest - take a look on my last page, it was the first item I put on Etsy!

Luminescent Venetian glass is hand-blown in the centuries old tradition, in shades of grape with splashes of gold. These gorgeous Italian beads inspired earrings, necklaces and this bracelet; I have enough to make one more necklace, then they're all gone!

Cool, marbled cushion-cut 15mm apatite gemstones in deep blue-green complement deep purple 8mm faceted African amethyst rondelles, separated by smooth little 14karat goldfilled rondelles and delicate fluted bead caps. It measures 7 1/2" all around, with a solid 14karat gold stardust security clasp, with sparkling scallops of figure-8 goldfilled chain that drape gracefully from your wrist.

This gorgeous bracelet is a timeless beauty. I used the solid gold clasp because it was just perfect visually, but I can easily substitute a secure lobster clasp if you'd prefer. The lobsters are easier to do by yourself, altho the security clasp can be mastered solo with a little practice. Solid gold will last forever, but frankly gold-filled beads and findings will outlast our lifetimes as well. I have bracelet I've been wearing for 15 years that are still like new, and I am hard on my jewelry!

Kashmir Garnet Brooch

Shades of pomegranate, splashes of ruby red against glittering golden sands edged in bronze, capture the vibrant sensuality of Far Eastern delights. Woven with vintage and contemporary Czech glass seed beads in the Native American brick stitch, each segment of this Art Nouveau fan is subtly curved, the hallmark of my woven work.

Below, sprays of rich red Kashmir garnets mingle with warm, fawn-colored freshwater pearls and dark garnet Swarovski crystals, accented with 14karat goldfilled beads and fluted caps, with sparkling Swarovski crystal rondelles and tiny bronze fire-polished Czech crystals.

Perfect for a fall wedding, this brooch is 3" across and 1 3/4" tall, plus another 1 3/4" for the spray of gemstones below. It can be worn by itself, or mounted on a comb I adapted with simple, invisible heavy gold wire loops; or mounted as a pendant on a matching necklace, sold separately.

This is a design I have recreated, with slight variations, twice. The original was antique silver, white and lilac, for my friend Kelly's bridal headpiece, shown in the center photograph. The first recreation is a match for my Midnight Nouveau earrings; and this is the second recreation. These bold earrings feature marbled blue-green apatite cushion-cut gemstones, nestled in 24karat vermeil beadcaps suspended by 14karat gold-filled chain with Czech and 22karat amethyst Swarovski crystals. They are a perfect match for my Venetian Splendor bracelet, with hand-blown Italian glass beads and deep purple African amethysts to bring out all the colors in the blown glass, splashed with gold.

Evergreen Apatite Petites

Simple yet oh so elegant...

Gorgeous apatite gemstone pillows are wrapped in spiraling goldfilled wire, with glittering indicolite Swarovski crystals and a bit of wire bramble above.

The pillow-cut squares are about 3/4" across, and the earrings measure just about 2" long with french earwires. A perfect match for my Evergreen necklace or bracelet, shown in the other photos here. I also made a bigger, bolder pair of earrings with these stones, if that's more your cup of tea!

Libra - Hunter's Moon Magical Talisman

The Hunter's Moon and the Blood Moon are the male and female aspects of the Libra Moon, according to ancient Celtic Lore. Draw down the power of the Libra Moon to build your strength, as we approach the harsh winter months when game is scarce, the weather is fierce, and the Goddess sleeps where fires still burn deep beneath the earth.
The centerpiece is carved and dyed horn from Indonesia, crowned with golden spiraling horns dripping with gorgeous garnet briolettes, symbolizing the ancient flesh and blood sacrifice to the horned God of the hunt. The living animal wears his crown upright, but the sacrifice is upended, like the Hanged Man in the Tarot's Twelfth Arcana.
