Motley Crow Lampwork Glass Bird Focal Bead by Crowbirdie beads

$15.00
Let's hear it for the corvidae, the crows, the birds some people love and some people hate. I suppose you can figure out which one I am! The smart birds, crafty birds, with the outfit that matches ANYthing (black) - they really do deserve a special place in any bird-lover's heart. THIS one, however, is a motley crow. He's a patchwork of shades from gray to khaki to ochre and gold. Not all crows are black, after all. He was made on a 3/32" mandrel and is about 1 1/2" long from tailtip to beak. He stands proudly on his own so he could be a great addition to the collection, or you could make an excellent pendant out of him and always have a bit of craftiness with you...just for luck.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. Since they are made from glass they can be broken or chipped if mishandled, so please treat them kindly. Each one is unique, since I make them each by hand. That last photo shows me at the torch, creating a bead.

Yummy! Look at that big goofy smile...don't you just want to take him home? He measures about 1 3/4" long and was made on a 3/32" mandrel. He doesn't have any side fins sticking out so he'll make an excellent pendant.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. Don't ask me why, but he is surely an Edgar. He was made with basic black, dotted with white, covered with clear turquoise and light green, dotted with more clear, and then fancied up with transparent turquoise fins and big googly eyeballs. He measures about 1 3/4" long and was made on a 3/32" mandrel.
Sparkly wren lampwork glass bird bead by Crowbirdie Beads

$18.00
Birds are a favorite subject of mine, which I guess you can tell by the name Crowbirdie Beads. I love the wild birds that visit my bird feeders and I like to make glass birds loosely based on reality. One of my favorite birds is the wren because they are the absolute perfect stereotyped fat little bird with a pointy beak. Ok, so most wrens are brown speckles instead of sparkling dichroic glass, and I'm pretty sure that none of them have blue feet. But hey - the colors sure are pretty! I used transparent purple for the body, wrapped with a color that shifts from copper to gold to green, then added clear teals and greens for details. This bead is very detailed and beautiful in person.

This focal bead was made on a 3/32" mandrel and measures about 1 3/8" long. She's ready to be made into a pendant, or he can be a great little collectible for the bird collection.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. Since they are made from glass they can be broken or chipped if mishandled, so please treat them kindly. Each one is unique, since I make them each by hand. Here's Socks, a very friendly kitty made from gray glass with antiqued white tail, ear and paw tips and a white ruff at his chest. He stands very solidly on his four big cat feet. He's about an inch tall and was made on a 3/32" mandrel. He'd make a great pendant or gift for the kitty collector, and he'll come with a gift box ready to give away for the holidays.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. Chickens are also excellent inspiration for glass beads.

This guy is flaunting striped tailfeathers and a beautiful shade of transparent aqua on the rest of his body. He stands on his own and would make either a very unique piece of jewelry or a great little item for the chicken or bird collector.

I made him from Effetre glass in my studio in Manchester, Maryland using no molds. He's a one of a kind item because I can't reproduce the exact same thing if I try! He stands 3/4" tall and has a 2mm hole so there's plenty of room for stringing.

Please contact me if you have any questions or anything. He'll be shipped First Class Mail in a gift box in a bubble mailer so that he'll arrive safely.

Thanks for stopping by!

I used Effetre ivory glass, CIM celadon which turned out to be a great color, and intense black for the spots and such. He's been outfitted as a pendant, with Swarovski crystal beads and sterling silver findings so he's ready to wear or just to hang around!

This particular little fishy measures 34mm from nose to tailfin, and about 24mm tall.

He'll be shipped First Class Mail in a giftbox, so if you're looking for a quick present for a crafty friend who just happens to like fish, well, here ya go.

I make the beads by hand, one at a time, in my studio on a farm in Westminster, Maryland. They are all properly kiln-annealed for durability and will come in a gift box. Please contact me if you have any questions!

This tiny little pink and purple WONK is too small to steal candy

Well, it's one of these. They flutter around chasing mosquitos and gnats and they make tangles in your hair when they hitch a ride. They normally steal candy, especially blue and yellow M&Ms and Pez, but this little one is just a tad bit too small. If they close their eyes and retract their wings they can hide in your bead stash.

They make quiet beeping sounds when they talk to each other, and a group of them is a Winkle. A baby Wonk is a Wink.

This Wonk, who's almost still a Wink she's so little, is a pale pink with clear purple wings. She's about 1/2" tall and was made on a 1/16" mandrel.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. So...here he is. He's a smallish gray parrot with a white belly and a speckled breast. His feet have purplish toes that are big enough to let him stand up nicely. He has black button eyes that are looking at you no matter where you are in the room. Parrots do that, ya know. They like to keep an eye on you. In case you do something amusing or have good snacks on you.

Jack's about 7/8" tall, which isn't very big. About the size of a grape, I'd say. He was made on a 3/32" mandrel using Italian soda lime glass.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. Since they are made from glass they can be broken or chipped if mishandled, so please treat them kindly. Each one is unique, since I make them each by hand in my renovated summer kitchen studio.

Well, it's one of these. They flutter around chasing mosquitos and gnats and they make tangles in your hair when they hitch a ride. They steal candy, especially blue and yellow M&Ms and Pez. If they close their eyes and retract their wings they can hide in your bead stash.

They make quiet beeping sounds when they talk to each other, and a group of them is a Winkle. A baby Wonk is a Wink.

This Wonk is clear turquoise with pinkish wings. She's about 3/4" tall and was made on a 1/16" mandrel.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. I love CHICKENS! And I miss my little flock of hens, so until the spring when I'm raising my own flock of REAL hens I have to make due with glass chickens. Here's a cheery little hen with a swirly gray feather pattern. She was made on a 3/32" mandrel and measures about 1" tall. She's ready to be made into a pendant, or she can be a great little collectible for the bird collection, since she sits on her own two feet.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. The bead is a flattened teardrop shape that makes a fantastic pendant and is very comfortable to wear. There are Swarovski crystal accents and sterling silver findings. The whole pendant measures about 1 1/2" long. I'll include a cord and a gift box so it will be ready to give away (or to keep for yourself!)

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. I gave him a bright red body and added flame-colored spots all over it with fins that look like flattened flames. He doesn't have any side fins so that he can be worn as a necklace without fear of catching them on something. He has a very sweet smile. I just love rainbows ;) Here's a very lovely striped fish with windows in each fin made with clear glass. The "windows" make any color behind the fish show up, so my theory is that this way he'll match anything. Hey - for the fashion-challenged, like me, that's a major bonus! You can see it in the photo with the split white paper and wood background. He measures about 1 5/8" long and was made on a 3/32" mandrel. He doesn't have any side fins sticking out so he'll make an excellent pendant.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. I mean, just look at him. Look at those EYES! He can see around corners with them. He might look more red on your monitor but it's actually a bright reddish-orange, with bright white and black spots. I had so much fun making this fish! He stands well on his two front fins and tailfin and makes a great collectible. The orange becomes translucent in the fins and tail so he looks great in front of a light source. I gave him a friendly smile with big googly eyeballs. Ever meet an orange cat? They are mischief personified! Not sure what it is, but since I'm a redhead I can say that it has NOTHING (ok, everything) to do with fur color. This is Mischief. She stands about 1 1/8" tall and was made on a 3/32" mandrel. The hole goes up through her paws and out her back so she'd make a great pendant. She also stands on her own. She's solid orange, though the photos show a lot of reflections from things around her. She has yellow eyes and a waving tail.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. Alright, it's green. I don't know why, but I picked up the green glass...I made this little horse using a mottled green glass that shows stripes and spots like marbling. He was made on a 3/32" mandrel and the hole goes up through his hooves so he hangs upright. He can stand on his own feet so he'd be a good collectible for the horse person. Especially if they're into the Wizard of Oz - remember the horses in the Emerald City? They were green! (and a bunch of other colors!)

There are two palm trees made with striped leaves on a sandy beach with darn ocean blue waves in the background and a pale lavender sky. The back has a wave showing on it, and it's a very nice shaped bead to handle. It tapers slightly from the wider top to the base. The bead is about 3/4" tall, 11mm thick and was made on a 3/32" mandrel.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. He's very smooth and a delight to handle. He measures about 1 3/4" from tailtip to beak tip and I made him on a 3/32" mandrel. He would make a beautiful pendant but also stands on his own two feet very nicely. The swirls inside are subtle and sparkly but they are very hard to get across in a photograph!

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. There are flashes of old gold, ivory, pale pink and white throughout the fish's flowing fins and tail. And look at that expression! So cheery! This fishy has side fins that flare out farther from her body, so she would be better probably as a collectible or a hanging bit of art than a pendant, unless you were careful with her. She was made on a 3/32" mandrel. She measures about 1 5/8" long from lips to tailfins.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. I love the hummingbirds that visit the feeder, even though at my new place they are still few and far between. We have one pair visiting and they are just spectacular to see when the sun hits those emerald green feathers! I made one out of glass - he's perched, waiting expectantly for something. He is 1 3/4" long and was made on a 3/32" mandrel so he could either be a pendant or just a cute little collectible to sit next to you as you work at the computer.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. I've been working with dichroic glass lately and because I love birds and I've been reading a lot of fairy tales, this fairyland bird came out of the torch. She's made using a clear turquoise blue with brilliant aqua sparkling dichroic glass encased within her body and tailfeathers. It catches the light in shifting shades that are near impossible to photograph! I tried though. She was made on a 3/32" mandrel and measures about 2" from beak to tailtip. She's ready to be made into a pendant, or she can be a great little collectible for the bird collection, since she sits up on her own two birdie feet.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. The base is made of a flattened glass drop and the point is hand-pulled from a rod of pyrex glass so that it is strong and sturdy enough to hold your bead. the stand will measure between 1 1/2" to 2" tall, about 1 1/4" across the base, and the point graduates in width from 4mm to 1mm. The bead on display does not come with the base - it's just to show you how I use them with my beads :)

These stands are made of glass and the thin point can be fragile, but treat them like the glass that they are and they will make excellent display stands for years.

Rainbow Feather over Teal lampwork glass pendant by CrowbirdieBeads

I made this pendant using one of my handmade lampwork beads, Swarovski crystals and sterling silver. The bead was made from a base of transparent teal glass, then I striped rainbow colors over it, raked them into a feather pattern, popped it in the kiln straight from the flame and cleaned it thoroughly after it was annealed for durability.

The jump ring will fit over all sorts of different cords and chains so it is ready to wear. If you'd like it to be a gift for someone special, convo me and I can gift wrap it for you!

All CrowbirdieBeads come in a gift box, because if they aren't a gift for someone else, then they are a gift for you.

I made this focal bead using a rainbow of glass colors pulled into a ribbon, then applied onto the light blue background. The storm clouds were a gray/white twisty daubed onto the surface and there had to be a bright yellow sun somewhere. Then I smooshed it into a round tab shape, because they're so much fun to handle!

The bead is about 3/4" tall and the hole is about 2mm. I love birds and have bird feeders outside my studio so I can watch them while I torch. I haven't seen any that look like this one, but OH if I HAD! He's made from Moretti green mosaic, which is this wild color that makes striations in the glass depending on how you work it, so even though there are feathers and patterns, he is all one color and sculpted from one rod of glass. The only colors I added were his beak, feet and eyes. He was made on a 3/32" mandrel and measures about 1 5/8" long from tail to beak. He stands on his own or would make a beautiful pendant.

CrowbirdieBeads are made by me, by hand, in my old summer kitchen studio on a farm in Westminster, Maryland. I don't use molds and the colors are the colors of the glass. Please convo me if you have any question and thanks for checking out my shop :)

Okay, maybe they don't come in bright blue, but they should. This plump little hen came out of the torch just as blue as could be, but that doesn't mean she's unhappy. Honestly, she looks pretty darn optimistic! She's made from this great French Blue CiM glass color, with yellow feet and beak and of course a red comb. She measures about an inch from beak to tail. I added two little blue Swarovski crystals and sterling silver to make her ready to wear as a pendant.

CrowbirdieBeads are made by me in my studio in Maryland.
Summer Skies Little Turquoise Spotted Hen Bead

$18.00
Birds are a favorite subject of mine, which I guess you can tell by the name CrowbirdieBeads. I love CHICKENS! And I miss my little flock of hens, so until the spring when I'm raising my own flock of REAL hens I have to make due with glass chickens. Here's a cheery little girl with feathers the color of a summer sky, with ivory and black speckles.

This focal bead was made on a 3/32" mandrel and measures about an inch long. She's ready to be made into a pendant, or she can be a great little collectible for the bird collection, since she sits on her own two feet.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. Since they are made from glass they can be broken or chipped if mishandled, so please treat them kindly. Each one is unique, since I make them each by hand. That last photo shows me at the torch, creating a bead. I'm very happy that you've taken the time to check out my Etsy shop. Please enlarge the photo so you can see the bead better and thanks very much for stopping by!

I've been having fun using all sorts of colors and techniques with my birds and I really like the way this one turned out. He's red, yellow, and orange encased like a paperweight in clear glass, to give him depth, two little black eyes and adorable orange toes!

This focal bead was made on a 3/32" mandrel and measures about 1 1/2" from beak to tailtip. He's ready to be made into a pendant, or he can be a great little collectible for the bird collection, since he sits nicely on his own two little birdie feet.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. They are endlessly entertaining! This one was made from opaque purple glass, reduced on the tailfeathers to a metallic shine, with white spots and little yellow feet. He has a white spot around one eye for a bit of added character - gives him a jaunty look. He has a 3/32" mandrel hole going down through his back so he's ready to be made into a pendant. He doesn't stand up on his feet, just rocks back and sits on his tailfeathers.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. They are still made from glass and can be broken or chipped if mishandled, so please treat them kindly. Each one is unique, since I make them each by hand in my Manchester, Maryland studio.

I really enjoy making them from glass because chickens inspire me to try to get across some of that humor and variety in my beads. This rooster is about 1 1/2" long from tail tip to the end of his beak and he's made from periwinkle blue glass striped with clear emerald green stringers, yellow dots of flowers, and then his body is encased in clear to add depth. He has a 3/32" mandrel hole going down through his back so he's ready to hang as a pendant or he can stand on his own.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. They are still made from glass and can be broken or chipped if mishandled, so please treat them kindly. Each one is unique, since I make them each by hand myself in a little studio in Manchester, Maryland.

I do!

He's red - bright shiny transparent red with fancy tailfeathers and he stands on his own two feet. Or, he can be worn as a pendant since there's a 2mm hole going from his back to his belly. I made him from Moretti glass in my studio in Manchester, Maryland and he's been properly kiln-annealed and cleaned of the bead release. He'll come in a proper gift box, too, ready for that chicken collector on your list! He's about 1 1/8" tall and was made on a 3/32" mandrel, and you can see the way the hole runs in the photo - he's strung on an orange pipe cleaner. It's woven using a variation of an old webbing stitch and it makes a fantastic trap for sunshine in your car or hanging in the window. It even looks great on a Christmas tree or decorating year round. It measures about 3" across and has a built-in hanger. It will come with a clear suction cup hanger so you can attach it directly to a window if you like.

I make these when I can't be out in the studio at the torch working with hot glass. I used all different colors, red and orange, green and blue, a frosted crystal that really breaks up the light, and a deep cobalt blue to frame everything.
Lemon Drop Fish Pendant by CrowbirdieBeads

$18.00
Lemon-lime guppy, anyone? I was playing with some of my unidentified glass rods and found this really juicy yellow, had to make a fish out of it. He reminds me of a lemon-drop candy...yum. He's smiling, but it's one of those subtle ones where you just can't quite figure out what they're thinking about but you know it has to be something good. This little fishy has been made into a pendant using another matching lampwork bead in that same juicy lemon colored glass. I also added a little bit of sterling silver and crystal to accent it. The fish is 1 3/8" from tailfin to lips.

Crowbirdie Beads are carefully kiln-annealed and made from effetre, moretti, lauscha and vetrofond glass. Each one is unique, since I make them each by hand in my studio. These beads are glass so they can be fragile if mishandled or dropped - please be careful with them. I'm very happy that you've taken the time to check out my auction. Please enlarge the photo so you can see the bead better and thanks very much for stopping by!
