One of my 1st Shot Glasses!

I've been Learning how to do some off-hand glassblowing. Which involves creating a vessel from a gather of molten glass , that you gather out of a furnace of molten glass onto the end of a steel blowpipe.
It is completely different from Lampwork, and a lot more intense considering the glass in the furnace is about 2000 degrees.

These glasses are very durable, the only thing off limits is Hot Hot liquids, It may thermal shock the glass into breaking.

This piece is made from dark transparent Cobalt Blue with a wavy strips of yellow, and a hint of a metalic finish that you cant see in the photos.

The metallic finish is created by putting the hot glass in a reducing atmosphere, which means we choke off the propane to the oxygen/propane mix.

This reduced level of oxygen causes incomplete combustion of the fuel and raises the level of carbon inside the glory hole. This causes the metals in the glass recipe to rise to the surface, and create the shiny surface.

I've been hoarding most of the things I have made, but Maybe its time to offer some of them to you.

The cord is a waxed linen that I have only found in Costa Rica and Panama. It is more comfortable than hemp twine, and stays nice if you get it wet a lot.

These Beautiful Antique Metal Seed beads were were popular in France in the early 1900's.

These Vintage beads are getting increasingly harder to find.

These Beads are a mix of Metallic Pink, Blue, Silver and Copper in Color.

Some of the beads are hex cut beads giving them extra sparkle.

I've been told that these are the old #15 seed bead.

The holes are similar in size to the holes in Miyuki Delica beads.

Unlike glass beads, they also 'give' a little bit, if you go thru them many times. They are more likely to stretch a bit, as opposed to breaking.

Your sure to fall in love with these beads as much as I have!

Right now, I dont have a way to weigh them, so I am measuring them, by a cap full. You get all the beads in the picture.

I Love this one! The loop on the back is nice and thick, so my buttons are super durable. The glass I use is Pryex Borosilicate which is way more durable than 'soft glass' Pyrex is what your Corning ware is made out of. All my glass has been properly annealed in a kiln for maximum durability.

This button would be perfect on a purse, shirt, pants, jacket, sweater, or used as a clasp on beadwork, or even as a focal bead as an eye catching centerpiece on a work of art you are creating.

they are very durable, and fine in the washing machine. THey are OK in the dryer as well, but to avoid getting scratched up, its better to let the clothing air dry.

There was Magic in the air when this one came into existence.

Sparking with rainbow dichroic...this lovely mermaid with flowing white hair is swimming around sea grass and tubular coral. A fish blows bubbles as he swims above. At the bottom on the sea floor is a brilliant opal, shining bright. (not in pic)

People ask me how I do this and I tell them, its like painting, but you have to heat up your paintbrush and melt it as you go.

I'm not sure the kind of metal this bottle is made of , but the patterns are beautiful! Who knows, it may be silver. It looks like tarnish in the grooves, but I don't know. It definitely looks handmade.

I should have taken a photo of the bottom of the bottle as well,but you can see it a little bit in on of the photos.

The top screws on tightly, and has a metal dabber to help you apply your perfume.

Since I was a kid I was interested in Magic Talismans, Lucky and intentional art, filled with Loving Vibrations. This Piece of art falls into that category!

I found the holey stone in on the beach in Costa Rica.

It is said that some people can see through to other dimensions/the fairy realm through a holey stone. I would think you'd see mermaids through this one.

I found this funky rock on the beach in Costa Rica, the herkimer diamond is from a friends claim in Herkimer NY.

I wove a little net to attach the diamond. Its very nautical, and would be a great gift for any water lover.

Herkimer Diamonds

Zodiac Affinity
Herkimer Diamonds have a special affinity with the sign of Sagittarius. They have a Projective Energy, thier Planet is the Sun and their Element is Fire.

Folklore
It is told that if two people wish to attune themselves to each other, two of these lovely gems should be held simultaneously. After, each can carry one and be attuned to the other person even though the gems are separated. This can also work to attune groups together as well.

Crystal System
Herkimer Diamonds have a trigonal crystal system and are in the mineral class of oxides in the Quartz group. They are a unique form of Quartz that generally crystallize as double-terminated, very clear crystals. Their compact formation makes them slightly harder than regular quartz, but not as hard as diamonds.

This pseudo diamond received its name from its place of discovery, Herkimer, New York. They are also found in some areas of Spain and in Oaxacca, Mexico. The ones I carry have come from Mexico. I prefer them since they usually contain rutile strands (the black streaks-generally a form of Tourmaline) which seems to provide an extra zip to their energy.

Herkimer Diamonds can provide the ability to recognize the essential being within you, allowing it to "be." In this aspect, they provide the appreciation of the essential being (not of the self) that resides in us all.
