Before she even set foot on French soil, a 15 year old Marie Antoinette earned the name, l'Autrichienne, "The Austrian Woman."

Inspired by Antoinette's Austrian roots, this lovely 18th century style neck ruff is constructed using a traditional ribbon trim technique found between Austria and Bavaria.
The sheer and satin stripe aqua blue ribbon is ruched onto a solid ribbon base, and set off with a silver metallic braid down the center.
A bow of the same ribbon decorates the front, and a square shaped rhinestone finding is sewn to the center for added sparkle. Ties in back.

Named after the renowned beauty herself, this lovely chapeau will surely turn heads. It's a mix of the 1890s "Belle Époque" and 1940s glamour.
Mounted on a sturdy buckram and taffeta base, this fabulous little hat is embellished with a wide ruffle of steel grey shot taffeta, pale rose German moiré taffeta ribbon, another woven taffeta ribbon in shades of black white and grey, and a lovely Victorian reproduction filigree. A narrow ribbon in light grey and taupe circles the base of the crown.
The ribbons loop upward in flirty bows, while the wide pleated ruffle brim shades your eyes from the unforgiving sun.
Just the thing for a day walking along the promenade, or perfect for a picnic in the park.

While I recommend using bobby pins to secure it, the small comb also attached to the underside of the signature Vienna La Rouge-red lining, allows you to place it however you wish!
9" wide and about 3.5" to 4" tall, depending on how you fluff the ribbons ;-)

The Madame Du Barry Neck Ruff

Marie-Jeanne Bécu, Comtesse du Barry was the last "maîtresse en titre" (Mistress) of Louis XV of France. She also fell victim to the Guillotine's blade during the Reign of Terror amidst the French Revolution.

This lovely pleated choker/ruff, named after the lovely mistress herself, is comprised of a wonderfully crisp vintage taffeta ribbon in a pale peach/almost nude shade.
In the center of the pleats runs a narrow length of french ruching in colors of ivory black and sparkling gold.
At each end of the choker are two flirty bows of the same nude taffeta, and can be worn to the back, side, or center front. Any way looks fabulous!
The ribbon ends are cut (or 'pinked') in scallops just as it was popular to do during the 18th century.
In the center of each bow there are faux mother-of-pearl buttons.
An elastic, in a nude color matching the taffeta, secures the choker around the wearer's neck by looping around the opposite button.
This is not only a pretty way to secure it, but the elastic allows for a little bit of room for various neck sizes.
Completely handmade and one-of-a-kind.

The Antoinette Neck Ruff

Marie Antoinette, one of history's most fascinating and misunderstood women, inspired me to create this glittering accessory.
A ruched length of deep green vintage picot-edged taffeta ribbon is set off by a multi-looped bow.
In it's center, a vintage jewelry finding of black glass and marcasite is topped by a Swarovski crystal in the shade called 'Black Diamond'. Shimmering rococo style silver braid runs the length of the neck ruff. It is also decorated with more Swarovski crystals, including the base of the ribbon ties, and shimmer with an intense fire.
The rich black velvet ribbon ties the neck ruff around the wearer's neck, and allows for adjustment in size.
All rhinestones are secured using a specialty rhinestone glue known as Aleen's Jewel-it.
I use this glue on my own burlesque costumes, and through all the abuse I put them through, I've rarely lost a rhinestone.
It is waterproof and washable, should you ever need to hand wash your item after a wild evening of revelry involving red wine or cake.

Ruff 13 inches long,
