I made this stocking from an old patchwork quilt that had seen better days. The quilter used great shirting prints and small geometrics. I can imagine that this was once a really warm and comfy quilt and was well-loved.

Features a pretty old doily cuff.

I decorated this red dotted stocking with two pretty vintage quilt squares and machine quilted it "in the ditch." The result is bright and cheery.

Pictures show a bit yellow -- this is a true Christmas red, not orange-y.

This stocking was made from a lovely old tablecloth from the 40s or 50s. The nubby white background is strewn with slightly faded roses. I cut the best parts for this pretty stocking and trimmed it in matching pink rickrack.

This series of stockings are works of love.

A young woman pieced these sections together for a garden quilt, but never finished it. I love her sense of color. I appliqued the "flowers" onto a pale pink polka dot background and added new yoyos to the center. The toe is linen.

The full picture of the stocking has a lot of yellow in it -- the other photos show the true color.

This series of stockings are works of love.

A young woman in the 30s or 40s pieced together sections for a quilt top. Her stitching was primitive, but her sense of color was wonderful. No longer hidden away in a sewing basket, these pretty "flowers" were appliqued onto pretty polka dot backgrounds* and fashioned into Christmas stockings.

Some are finished with vintage buttons, yoyos or embroidered flowers. Each one is a show off in its own right. All are fully lined in cotton.

This one features yoyos, peachy pinks and greens. It is backed in new diamond quilted cotton.
