Our first two sheep were Blink & Wink - two North Country Cheviot wethers. Rams that have been turned into pets or fibers animals only are called wethers as their you-know-whats are gone. They are very friendly guys who have come a long way because when we first met them they would run away from us & now they run up to us!

Since these rams are not using their energy to breed they grow incredibly dense, thick & long fleeces. Not as long as the Icelandics! never! But up to 5 inches or so in staple length. Their fleece is bright white and has a nice kink to the curl. (Sometimes I want to cut out special chunks off of the sheep for doll hair - but I haven't done this.. yet).

CHEVIOT WOOL!!

Excellent for spinning! These fellas' genetics hail from Scotland where Cheviot wool was traditionally used to weave the fabric for kilts! Cheviot wool will spin into bright white thin thread which can then be dyed if you like. If a thin thread is not what you are after this wool can be spun into any thickness depending on your skill level.

Wet Felters! This wool is very very soft & I suggest blending it when you card the wool with a different (more course) wool.
Needle felters - this stuff is great & the base white color offers a lot to work with if you like dying small quantities for needle felting projects.

Remember this wool has been washed but not carded.

Gretchen & Caroline, two of my creamy white Icelandic Ewes, offered up some wool for me to spin this luscious 2-ply yarn on my Louet spinning wheel.

3 ounce skein, 2 ply

Let me know if you want me to ball it up so it is ready for your knitting or crochet project. (A skein will ship better and you will be able to see what every bit of yarn looks like.)

Icelandic wool has a dual fleece, tog & thel, one is soft & downy the other is longer. When spun together this particular skein is rather soft & it is sturdy. I spun one bobbin a bit thinner so when I plyed them together it has more texture!

Want to understand what goes into a skein like this?
I love and tend to my sheep year-round, I shear them in November and March, I skirt the fleece (clean of edges that may be dirty), I pick out any pieces of vegetable matter, then I wash it a few times, I dry it. Once it is dry I card it and get it ready to spin.. THEN! I spin it. Once it is spun I wind it onto a skein winder, wash it a few times, dry it & it is ready to go!

Icelandic wool has a dual fleece, tog & thel, one is soft & downy the other is longer and courser. When spun together this particular skein is in between course and soft, when comparing other Icelandic yarns. It is a very sturdy yarn. It has nice texture to it, I spun 2 bobbins on the thin side but fairly even and plyed them together in this 4.5 ounce skein.

These sheep are all my personal buddies and live with us at Lillian's Farm. I always wanted to live among sheep since I was about 3 years old so I am living a big dream and it's so real! Please help support this calling of mine by purchasing my wool for your own projects or my crafts & works of art that I produce on the farm with my own materials as well as collected, bought & traded ones.

The wool is from Icelandic adult females (ewes).
Colors: white, black, black/grey, morit brown.
Typically I sell this for $2-2.50 per ounce, depending on how much you buy.
These colors are unique and each of my gals has several spotted colors on them. They need not be dyed but buy the white wool if you do want to dye.
You will order by Sheep name & I always include a full spectrum of colors that come off of each animal (several of the gals are spotted-I can email pics).

Their wool is unique and I encourage all to look up pics and info about their fleece online. Icelandic Wool is ideal for felting and handspinning. They have a dual coat which can be separated leaving a ten inch courser fiber and a 4 inch fluffy soft fiber. Blended together as yarn you will get a strong, useful, sturdy and soft product.. convo for more!

Felt and beaded necklace

This 19 inch necklace began with the large black felted ball that I made from one of my sheep, Minikin's wool. I was inspired to use it as a pendant.

This dress is a wonderful bright green, has a huge ruffled color & falls almost to the floor. It certainly complements the taller person and it could easily be hemmed. The bust is darted and pleated a little, giving a nice hug to your body.

This vintage button down needed a little adjustment. I snipped off the sleeves & added in some sweet black lacey pockets. The sparkly buttons are original as well as the cheetah collar.

Size is medium, although if your top is busty I would not recommend this for you, unless you wanted to wear a camisol underneath - the buttons stay put just fine on the less busty folk.

I felted beads of pink and black, then paired them with a wooden ring. They have a natural look because of the materials & shapes but the fucsia wool brings us up to speed with the times. They sort of resemble two acorns smooshed together! Come on people, pink & black are fab together!

Felted Hat with fold-able brim

The wool used to wet felt this hat is from one of our Icelandic ewes, Elsa. Please note that I did not use any dyes to create this hat of many many natural shades. (there is one small spot where I painted on some green dye). Elsa is a brown morit ewe whose wool has bright white, reddish brown, brown & blondes. She has a large white stripe over her nose and I think her fleece is in our top two!

This hat is a standard fit, measuring roughly 22 inches around the ear level of your head. It has a big floppy brim that can be folded back giving a contrary look of beach hat made of wool! Or let the brim fly.
There is a bit of green for flare and a splattering of wool left in its natural locks and curls draping down the front of the hat.

This hat can be reversible and certainly does not have a front or back (even though I see it that way).

The model is a five year old. Use your imagination - it will fit most adults! I would imagine a short hair cut would look really great with this too!

This lovely little number is looking for just the right person, with just the right amount of sass to take her home!

I crafted this hat out of a recycled wool sweater, stitched it up, added in some ribbon with ice cream cones on it and santa claus fluffy white edging. The shape of the hat is a cone, with an open air top. When you pull this stretchy little hat down upon your head it hugs you and does not appear conehead-like at all!

The wool is a creamy off-white color, some magenta rickrack, white faux-fur edging and the ice cream cones... there is simply nothing like it. Plus, I bet that your friends will take a glance and immediately suggest that they take you out for ice cream, even though it is 30 degress outside!

There is no fooling with this tam. You have got to have dreadlocks to pile up in this baby... like the kind of locks that flow down your back. Please measure your head - this tam is made for a larger sized head as well as to fit a whole lot of hair.

Although my inspiration to crochet these babies does not always match the interest - they seem to fly off the shelf faster than other styles. Look around and maybe you will find a unique crocheted hat that matches your personality!

Ingredients: rayon, silk, cotton, wool, acrylic.
Measurement around ear-to-ear: 24/25"
This hat is one of my larger sizes - be sure to measure your head.

This hat is on the thicker side - it will keep you warm outdoors but would be too warm indoors unless you have one of those freezing homes or your job is chilly!
