Dead Guy Trays

$123.45
This is a set of Dead Guy trays. As with all my trivets and trays, they are hand painted tiles on hand crafted wooden trays. The wood is a honey pine finish with a light coat of Varathane. The tiles are 4" porcelain field tiles on which I have painted the designs. The paints used are fine china paints, applied by hand to the tiles, the tiles are fired in a kiln to temperatures approximating 1400 degrees F. This firing fuses the china paint to the glaze on the porcelain tile. The paint is applied in layers and fired after each layer. These particular designs required four firings.

The serving area of each tray is a bit larger than 21" x 13".

I need your help here - I am accumulating way too large an inventory day of the dead inspired stuff and I need to get some of it out so that I can make things inspired by more recent creative juices. For this reason I will consider splitting up the set as long as both trays are going to good homes.

Domestic shipping costs will be about $30.00 for the set - about $25.00 for a single. Contact me for international shipping costs.

Treasure Box

$17.23
This is a box that is an exercise in opposites. The tile is of the Talavera persuasion and this one is almost exactly 4 inches square (just over 10cm). The entire box is about 14cm square (about 5.5 inches). Those of you who may be familiar with my work will know that Talavera Tiles are 100% handcrafted and handpainted terra cotta tiles from Mexico. Because of this, no two are exactly the same in size, shape, color or appearance (very unrefined). On this OOAK tile i have painted a delicate design of poppys (very sophisticated or at least as sophisticated as i am capable of achieving)and fired it multiple times so it will not wash off or wear off. The box is handcrafted of high quality KD redwood with somewhat crude brass hinges (not seen in the photo). Inside the bottom is lined with a soft and elegant blue velvet material - that is loose and somewhat wrinkly like the skin of an elephant. The result is a treasure box that is elegant yet down to earth. I kind of like it and I hope you will too. Convo me if you want to see more!

Freesia Tile Trivet

$25.00
This is what I think a Freesia looks like. I have painted this design on a six inch porcelain tile (~15cm) and put it into a hardwood frame. The result is what you see in the photo.

The china painting process is permanent and the design is fired onto the tile. It will not wash off. The process is that the paint is applied in layers and each layer is fired to about 1400 degrees. The more layers and firings the more vibrant the color. This tile was fired four times.

We use these trivets in my home and put hot things on them. When not in use we hang them on the kitchen wall or display them on the countertop or the stovetop.

I will ship this lovely trivet anywhere in the world. Contact me for international shipping charges because shipping charges are higher if you live further from Arizona.

Star of David Shaped Ornament - Just in Time for The Holidays

This is a small Star of David made from hard cut nails. The joints on these pieces are soldered, not welded. I used a lead-free solder so there is no need to worry about that. They are finished with just a puff of paint and a clear coat gloss acrylic to inhibit rust. I have a piece of ribbon tied on to facilitate hanging but it is easily removed if not required.

The piece is about 7.5cm x 8.25cm (3" x 3 1/4").

A solder joint is softer than a welded joint so I would not throw one of these across the room too many times - it will probably break!

Keep an eye on this shop - there will be other ornaments coming soon. Happy Holidays. I can make more than one if you need more, it only takes a little time to do so.

Contact me for international shipping costs.

I purchased the spear-points new because I do not have a source for these used. The pieces were cut, shaped and assembled by me.

The piece (by virtue of the materials used) has been designed to look rough, so, if you are looking for a finely finished piece you should probably keep looking. This time I took a grinder to the rebar and, for the most part and the texture is smoothed. There is a bit of rusting but I have sprayed the piece with an acrylic overcoat that should arrest further rusting unless it is exposed to the elements for a long period of time. If additional rusting is desired just hang it outside – eventually it will rust some more.

The cross is about 32” high by 31” across (81cm x 79cm) from finial tip to finial tip, and weighs about 6 lbs (2.7kg). The rosette in the center is about 5 1/4” across (13.5cm). Note that these dimensions are approximate – if more precise measurements are required please contact me.

I can ship this piece anywhere – Continental US shipping costs via USPS are $25.00. Contact me for international rates.

Braze Welded Trivet

The outer frame is mild steel square rod, the inner design, the square pegs, if you will, are pieces of steel tube, and the feet are cut nails that are cleverly curled. These parts were braze welded together and the results are what they are, I like it. Not everyone is familiar with the brazing process so you can read more about it in my other steel trivet listing. Please note that this is a metal joinery process not a cooking process - if this were cooking it would be braising.

Use this trivet to protect your counter tops and table tops from hot dishes, pans, or kettles.

If you want to have some fun and you are easily amused click back and forth between photos 1 and 3 a few times. Makes me laugh!

Electric Heavy Metal Collaboration

My good friends at LEDlightingandart.etsy.com, Meaghan and Anthony added the lighting, I made the steel flower, and the result has got to be the first of it's kind. Original. Never seen before. A collaboration unequaled in modern times and destined to take the place of the mudshark in our mythology (thanks for the quote Frank).

The steel flower was painstakingly plasma cut and welded by me, and the electronic accents are the perfect balance of orange and red LED's which make this steel poppy a conversation piece during the day or at night, when the lights are low.

This listing includes the flower, the LED's and the power supply to operate it all. The power is supplied through a simple transformer that plugs into your wall (US socket only). The output is 9V and a very low wattage, so this flower is not only decorative and ornamental but economical to display as well. We hope you like it as much as we do.

Set of Handpainted Porcelain Bowls

$31.00
For your dancing and listening pleasure I have listed this set of 4 cereal bowls with a blue band at the top. Inside, at the bottom there is a surprise to be found when you finish your cereal. I am, of course, assuming that you will not notice the surprise when you are pouring the cereal into your bowl??

The porcelain bowl is purchased from an outside shop and is probably mass produced by hands that I cannot name. However, after I purchased them (transaction was completed through a very nice cashier named Vanessa, whom I can name, here in Southern Arizona) I brought them home and applied the design on the inside and the blue band on the outside myself.

These bowls have been hand painted, by me, and fired three times in my kiln, by me, there are no tits, nips, cracks or genitalia depicted herein. Only BONEHEADS. I will ship them anywhere. Please convo me for international shipping charges, questions, or comments.

Eating from these bowls is encouraged. Side effects will NOT include headaches, nausea, bleeding from the gums or oily discharge. Enjoy these they are made to last, they are made to be used, and they are made to have fun with. Share them with your family and loved ones. The listed price is for the set of 4!

Cross Shaped Ornament - Just in Time for The Holidays

$7.50
I have created some small ornaments - this will be the first in the series. This is a small cross made from hard cut nails. The joints on these pieces are soldered, not welded. I used a lead-free solder so there is no need to worry about that. They are finished with just a puff of paint and a clear coat gloss acrylic to inhibit rust.

The piece is about 14cm x 9cm (5 1/2" x 3 1/2"). The flowers are cut from soda cans and glued to the cross itself. They are about 1 1/2cm in diameter (1/2"). REUSE,RECYCLE
