These delicate batts are inspired by Sarah's (Jennifer Connelly) gown at the masquerade ball in the movie "Labyrinth". I started with soft white wool and added in hand-dyed bamboo, silk and soy silk fibers dyed in many different pastels - blue, green, peach, pink, yellow and purple. Her dress shimmered and she was draped with gold and silver jewelry, so I also added five different colors of angelina. If you like sparkle, these batts are for you!

These soft and sparkling batts were inspired by the November Phat Fiber theme, "Home for the Holidays".

The blue star (or service) flag is a white rectangle with a red border and a central blue star. The star symbolizes an immediate family member serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during a time of war. For the past six years, I’ve displayed this flag. My sister was often unable to be “home for the holidays” because she was in Iraq. These batts are dedicated to all of the soldiers who can’t come home to their families this year.

Batts are made from soft white wool, red Corriedale wool and three colors of angelina. They have a lot of glitz because my sister loves things that sparkle.

This lovely 64s/21.5 micron merino wool is incredibly soft and lofty. It was kettle dyed with Greener Shades dyes. It was inspired by my favorite book, "My Family and Other Animals" by Gerald Durrell. The book was set on the island of Corfu and this yarn is how I imagine the colors of sea around the island. It's a pale but vibrant combination of blue, teal, pink and purple with a bit of white still showing through. It should spin into a cushy yarn for next-to-skin wear or it may be felted.

This is another set of batts inspired by the movie Labyrinth. Hoggle has his cowardly moments when he faces Jareth, but in the end, he turns out to be a total softie and a true friend to Sarah. In honor of his soft heart, these batts are made with fawn and rose grey cria alpaca from local fleeces I processed myself. I blended in some hand-dyed corriedale and silk and two colors of firestar. Since he loves jewelry so much, I had to add some sparkle.

This jumbo skein of two-ply yarn was spun on my wheel from custom-dyed roving from NaturalObsessions here on Etsy. I saw this colorway on another fiber and had to have it in Wensleydale. The blue and orange are very rich and saturated with hints of olive green.

Wensleydale is a long wool breed. Their wool forms loose curly ringlets up to 12 inches long. It has a natural sheen that almost looks like silk has been blended with the wool. It's not next-to-skin soft like merino, but this is a dense, drapey, lustrous yarn that would work well for a shawl, outwear or accessory knitting. It's more resistant to felting than many other wools.

Yardage: 220 yards
WPI: 10 (worsted)

Although this wool is less likely to felt, I recommend hand-washing for best results. This yarn has been washed, but the dye may bleed a little during the first wash.
