This is one of a series of images from material gathered from a photo shoot in China.

Each image in the series is a composite or photomontage, which means several (and in some cases many) images have been combined to create the final print. However, all the material is from China. As a departure from my other imagery, I am not using Polaroid transfers in this series.

Each is printed on the finest archival paper (either Somerset Velvet or Hahnemuhle Fine Art) with HP Vivera pigment ink (my new printer!!)

I can make a special size for you and offer matting and framing if you like. This size can be matted to 8x10 for an additional $10 or to 11x13 for an additional $18. If you are interested in larger sizes, just convo me and I will give you a price.

Description:

The Dingle Peninsula is in western Ireland. This Polaroid transfer composite is printed on Somerset Velvet Fine Art Paper with Epson K3 Inks (100 year rating), signed and matted with white acid-free cotton rag mat.

Process:
After I captured the elements of this composition on film, I made a Polaroid image transfer, by re-exposing the image onto Polaroid peel-apart film, then pressing the negative side onto wet watercolor paper. Creekside is a composite of 2 images captured north of Santa Fe on the road to Taos. After the initial composite I made a Polaroid transfer and then recombined it with the original image, reworking it to further develop the mood of the composition. (See my profile for more details)

After initial capture, this image began as a Polaroid image transfer, created by re-exposing it onto Polaroid peel-apart film, then pressing the negative side onto wet watercolor paper. Thus the print dyes of the negative were “transferred” onto the surface of the paper. The Polaroid transfer process imparts a unique texture and a dreamy, old-world feeling. This transfer has then been recomposited, recombined with the original image and the mood and evocative nature of the image have been further developed through the artful application of digital processes. The house is a traditional northern New Mexico style with corrugated metal roof, adobe walls, and wood windows. The cottonwood trees are so beautiful in the fall. The cat was not there at the time, but added afterwards to complete the quiet feeling of the image.

Process:
After initial capture, this image began as a Polaroid image transfer, created by re-exposing it onto Polaroid peel-apart film, then pressing the negative side onto wet watercolor paper. Thus the print dyes of the negative were “transferred” onto the surface of the paper. The Polaroid transfer process imparts a unique texture and a dreamy, old-world feeling. This transfer has then been recomposited, recombined with the original image and the mood and evocative nature of the image have been further developed through the artful application of digital processes. ACEO (Art Cards Editions and Originals ) or ATC (Artist Trading Card). The artwork on these cards measures 2-1/2" X 3-1/2", the standard size of a playing card or a baseball trade card. All of my ACEOs are limited edition of 50.

Pienza is a Polaroid transfer composite of imagery captured in Italy. To find out more about my artistic process, see my PROFILE.

These very affordable and collectible pieces are printed on 5”x7” fine art paper so you can frame them or trim them down to the standard ACEO size. If you would like me to cut them to ACEO size, just say “Please Trim” in the MESSAGES TO SELLER when you check out.

ACEOs are also an excellent way to sample the quality of my work, as each is printed on the same high quality, acid-free archival fine art paper with Vivera archival pigment ink. Images offered as ACEOs are also available in larger sizes. (see SIZES AND FRAMING)

Each is individually titled, dated and signed on the back, and then carefully wrapped and packaged between layers of cardboard to arrive safely at your door.

Process:

This photomontage is made from many captured images. I visited Huangshan in November of 2007. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in part due to its inspiration for classical chinese brush painting. It is a magical place and I was blessed with several hours of gorgeous mist-shrouded weather during a three day trek.
